Kimberly West took care of my Mother in the last 21 months of her life and she died peacefully at 99 years. My Mother had Parkinsons Disease and was Registered Blind and needed full care and assistance. Wessex Care and all their staff provided wonderful care and support at a continual and consistently
high standard. Without this support, our Mother would not have lived to such a ripe old age. We know from our visits my Mother was happy and comfortable and this gave our family great peace of mind, we never had any concerns about her care. During Covid we were able to set up regular Zoom Calls. The home is modern and purpose-built and is very clean and welcoming. There are hoists in all the bedrooms and public areas which makes it easy to support residents of limited mobility. The gardens and flowers are very well tended in the spacious outside areas. The Nursing and Care Staff are committed, experienced, and very dedicated and our family 100% recommend this Care Home. Thank you.
Reply from Jodie Scott, Operations Director at Kimberly West Care CentreThank you so very much for your feedback. The team work so hard to maintain the high standards that we have and will be overjoyed to hear of your positive comments especially during the past 18 months that have been difficult for all involved. It is our privilege to care for the amazing people we do. Thank you again.

Kimberly West is a care home that is staffed well and very, very clean! It runs a tight ship which I like and any problems are soon sorted out. Treatments and medication are kept in check and if any problems I am always notified by telephone. Clothes and healthcare are excellent and clean every time
I visit. All the staff are polite and very friendly and are available if I need to seek advice on care.
Reply from Jodie Scott, Operations Director at Kimberly West Care CentreThank you so much for leaving us such a lovely response. Kimberly West have a wonderful staff team who work very hard to maintain such high standards. We really do appreciate your feedback.

In general, care is good and a few small things if addressed could make this an outstanding home. The smell of urine needs addressing - very strong in some bedrooms. Cleanliness was good but has become poor over the last few months. Floor dirty, cups for residents very dirty. The staff do not speak
much to relatives.
Reply from Matthew Airey, Managing Director at Kimberly West Care CentreThank you for your feedback and I do mean this. We do not always get things right and so value when matters are raised with us so that we can correct them quickly. However, I am also aware that you had raised these issues previously and the manager tried to phone and then forgot to follow up due to the COVID-19 preparations.
A key area of our work is to support and enable independence and this can have unintended consequences however remains vital to that individual’s self-worth and esteem.
I am sorry that we have not been able to ensure the bedroom was of appropriate standard all of the time but am pleased the team managed to maintain independence for as long as possible.
Thank you for your kind comments about the good care and I am sorry you think there was some decline in cleanliness which is regularly checked and reviewed. I hope the recent phone call from the owner and the letter of apology has put your mind at rest. I add my sincere apologies. Matthew

My husband appears happy, content and well looked after. However, he never asks for anything and therefore relies on the empathy of the staff e.g. extra drinks, having fruit between meals, changing the CD in his machine and being changed if he wets himself. Understandingly all the staff cannot have
the same level of empathy with all the patients but they are lovely and hard-working, caring staff.
Reply from Matthew Airey, Managing Director at Kimberly West Care CentreI will ensure all the staff get to see your kind comments. As you know it has been a difficult few weeks with all the changes that were required to meet the challenge of the COVID-19 virus. The team are holding up well, some having moved into local staff accommodation away from their loved ones to ensure all our residents get the care and support they need. Thank you again for these lovely words.
Regards
Matthew

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.874)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.874) out of 10 for Kimberly West Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.924 for Kimberly West Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (197 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 211 Ratings = 4.924
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kimberly West Care Centre is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
