Review from E R (Daughter of Resident) published on 13 January 2020 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Signature Wimbledon is a care home in the true sense of those words. The residents are encouraged to view it as their home and every effort is made to assist families to make their relatives room as comfortable and familiar as possible. The initial consultation with the senior care team was impressive and reassuring and they continue to be open and receptive to ongoing care dialogues. The local GP surgery is two minutes down the road and there is a reassuring relationship with Signature with weekly GP visits. The Signature staff are all polite and respectful and go out of their way to get to know the residents. Nothing is too much trouble and every effort is made to celebrate life in as many diverse ways as possible throughout the course of each year. The atmosphere in the dining room is relaxed and friendly and the food is excellent, with carefully chosen ingredients to ensure a good balance of nutrients and manageable portion sizes. The activities team work hard to offer an impressive and varied daily visit ranging from big-screen crosswords in the cinema to shopping trips to local centres

Signature in Wimbledon is an outstanding facility. The care team is excellent and the whole facility is five-star from the nursing to the food, entertainment and general feel and ambience. The team greet you with a smile and everyone goes beyond to make sure my mother is well, both physically and emotionally. I highly recommend Signature Wimbledon. We feel like family.

Review from Douglas S (Respite Resident) published on 27 August 2019 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
As indicated in the tick boxes below, I have been completely satisfied with everything connected with my short (4 weeks respite care) stay at Signature. The building, it's design and facilities is of the standard of a 1st class hotel. The staff are welcoming, helpful and efficient. I was particularly impressed with the patience and kindness they showed with some residents who were stressed or with medical problems. I enjoyed many of the activities, although some were not of any particular interest, which is only to be expected with a diverse audience. The food in the dining room was good and the service quick and efficient. The tables, crockery and cutlery are spotless.

If necessary, I will return next year.

I feel well cared for and looked after here. If you have to be in a care home, I think this is a good one. You are asked what activities you would like to happen. You are listened to and the staff act upon this. I understand that it is expensive but I do not know how much it costs.

This is a caring place. The staff are genuinely fond of the residents. The food is wonderful and the activities team do a brilliant job. My dad did so many different activities in his last days. The home is extremely clean and well decorated. Respect is the order of the day here.

I am a regular visitor to my friend and can honestly say that I couldn't wish for my own parents a better place to live. The staff are so friendly, competent and caring and make the facility more like a welcoming 4* hotel instead of a care home. Well done to all concerned in making Signature a home from home.

My mother spent 3 weeks respite care at Wimbledon during a break from carers and the wonderful staff at Kingsmere helped her to settle in very quickly. The management, nursing staff, carers and kitchen staff are all so kind, patient and caring, creating a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The facilities are of the highest standard and every effort is made to make the residents feel welcome and part of the home. I would definitely recommend Kingsmere highly.

On entering the foyer of Kingsmere and being welcomed by friendly, charming folk I immediately felt at home and knew that I would be well cared for in a two-week stay. The various activities were all well documented in a bright colourful magazine, and I took part in everything offered. The meals were delicious with well-trained waiters who encouraged me to taste a variety of foods. All members of the large staff are charming and were always on hand to offer advice and encouragement. I will return.

My friend has been at Kingsmere for many months and is happy here. I think the staff are wonderful, always smiling, nothing is too much trouble for them if a resident needs help. The building is run like a five-star hotel. The food is excellent with great choices. There is lots going on, if residents wish to join in. There is also a beautiful private room if people wish to use it for celebrations, as my friend did to celebrate her 101st birthday with family.

Kingsmere Care Home is probably much better than other care homes but unfortunately more expensive.

Nevertheless, Kingsmere Care Home is almost certainly the top of the tree and I would tell anyone who cares to listen.

It is charming in every way - a home from home but 100% nicer!

From the receptionist onwards, everyone was wonderful - food was delicious, an utterly brilliant chef. They manage to create a wonderful atmosphere of a first class hotel with a lot of personal attention and warmth.

I have seen Kingsmere from 'both sides' I visit my mother who is a resident, several times a week and in addition I have stayed at Kingsmere for one week, to recover from an operation. I cannot endorse my views below more strongly. Not only is the personal care 100% but the backup staff e.g. catering, laundry, cleaners etc all help to provide a wonderful, caring and cheerful atmosphere. Residents are treated with respect. Kingsmere Retirement Home gets it right.
