Kitwood House is an excellent care home where all of the staff really care for their residents, taking time to comfort and support them when needed or simply sit and chat to them. The entertainment team always have things going on and really engage the residents in music, art and all manner of activities. The home, its common areas and bedrooms are always immaculately clean. It's a lovely home for my wife where she is well cared for.

From the first week my mum arrived at Kitwood my expereince has been positive. For the first time in a long time I was able to relax knowing she was being looked after by a kind, empathetic and caring team with lots of activities, lots of company and the special care she needed. I can't thank you all enough for your kindness and support throughout her stay. Nothing has been too much trouble and the support I received as a daughter of a resident has been amazing. Thank you.

Nicola, the nurse on Queen Elizabeth, Sunday 31st May rang me to let me know that my Mum had a bit of a cough on Friday so she had administered her inhaler which relieved the situation but Mum was complaining of chest pain on Sunday morning, she called for medical help and within less than a couple of hours my Mum had been issued with antibiotics. Nicola's quick observation and action enabled my Mum's recovery quickly which without this speedy intervention would have resulted in Mum having a chest infection and going into hospital which has happened several times within the last 12 months. Nicola is absolutely brilliant at her job and very observant of all the residents, Kitwood is very lucky to have her as are we as families with loved ones in their care. I'm very happy with care given to my Mum at Kitwood and the activities team are amazing and provide an array of different things which give the residents great quality of life.

As a family we were delighted with the service provided by Kitwood, filling us all with the confidence and assurance that our loved one was being well cared for. Staff were warm, friendly and willing to help with everything we needed. The food was outstanding. Kitwood was always a happy environment with lots of creative activities and social events taking place, it was most encouraging to see how invested the staff were when engaging with residents. Towards the end of life care, each and every member of staff showed kindness, sensitivity and respectfullness to our family. The care home did a sterling job with every single aspect of the care journey. Thank you Kitwood.

After eight years of caring for my mom, I reached a point where I could no longer give her the level of support she truly deserved. The thought of placing her in someone else's care was overwhelming at first, but I knew she needed professional help. Now, after five weeks at Kitwood, I am deeply grateful for everything the staff has done. They are not only wonderful at their jobs, but they also bring genuine warmth and kindness to every interaction. The activities and meals are excellent, and every resident is treated with such respect and compassion.

What surprised me most was how quickly mom felt like home, right from her very first day. That sense of comfort and safety is entirely thanks to the amazing team at Kitwood. I can honestly say that seeing my mom so happy and settled means the world to me. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for making this transition so much easier for both of us.

Highly recommended.
There is always a friendly and welcoming greeting as soon as you walk into reception.
The carers are excellent, provide any updates requested and even offer a drink.
The entertainment and activities are clearly enjoyed by everyone, vary according to residents needs and something is available every day.
There is a weekly food menu and is very appetizing.
I can honestly say that every member of the team knows my husband and always speak to him on every unit.

The management always engage with him and I feel that he is absolutely cared for and kept safe in Kitwood.

My dear friend has been a resident for some time now, and I try to visit each week. Whenever I turn up, no matter what day or time, I am so reassured by the level of care that my friend receives. This friendliness and commitment from all the staff show no limits. I know my friend is living the best life with the horrible disease she has. She loves to partake in the many activities and always looks happy.

After three years of caring for my dad with dementia, decisions had to be made, not just for Dad but for ourselves too, care and nursing homes are a conversation none of us ever wish to have. After visiting many homes, all were only too happy to except Dad, they still didn't seem right, some seemed too loud, the view was not good, some were overwhelmingly busy with staff seemingly confused, and the decor was of a military presence. Until we had the privilege of an invitation to Kitwood House, this place was another level of care, walking through the door and talking to staff that has a passion for care, a passion for cleanliness, and most of all they instantly gained a passion for my dad. Now a resident here since May 2024 and he loves it, nothing is any tougher than leaving a loved one in a care home but "seriously I could not be happier." Food and drink, personal hygiene, medication, and activities are all carried out professionally on a regular schedule, and the staff are simply the best.

Another fun and fabulous afternoon spent with my father-in-law at Kitwood. The power of music! It’s such a delight to see the happiness on all their faces. It's days like this which are made so much more special and create precious memories which we will always treasure.

The Pink Ladies should be renamed the “Pink Angels”. They are so creative, their attention to detail shines through in all they do. They are thoughtful, kind, and caring. They make such a difference to all the residents. They truly are incredible. Not taking anything away from the rest of the team. Kitwood House certainly have a dedicated, loyal and hardworking team which makes Kitwood truly stand out from any other care home. We feel very fortunate we have found our father-in-law a special home where he is cared for so well, where it feels like he's with “real family “ rather than staff doing a job. Each and every one of the team always goes that extra mile to make a difference, nothing is ever too much trouble.

An established organisation's only as good as it's staff. The staff are only as good as the organisation's training. This can only be achieved if it is organised by good management, who not only support, but reward staff in many different ways. My opinion as the relative of a resident who has resided at Kitwood House for 18 months is that the above process is in place at Kitwood House. Relatives only see and know a small portion of the work carried out and are very grateful to nurses, carers, activity staff, housekeeping, administrators, maintenance, manager and others associated with the help, support and care provided to residents at Kitwood House. I conclude by saying from the time you walk into Kitwood House, spend time with your family resident to the time you leave, everyone has a welcome, a smile and a professional approach to work which gives a comfort to both residents and relatives.

Leaving loved ones in a dementia home is an appalling decision to have to make as you entrust them to, however well-recommended, a stranger’s care. I was recommended to Kitwood House by a work colleague. It was the best decision I made. The kindness, care and love my mum and I were shown, all the way through to her death was exceptional. All the staff from the new management team, reception, carers, nurses, entertainment team, cleaners, cooks, laundry and maintenance are extraordinary people.

In the time that my wife has been at Kitwood House, I have never had doubts or concerns about the care that she is receiving. All of the staff are friendly and welcoming. The facilities and decor at the home make it pleasant and comfortable with a modern look. The atmosphere is relaxed which allows residents to get involved in activities if they wish or to occupy themselves with their own interests.

Unfortunately, I have found there to be no stimulation or interaction between the carers and the residents. They do cover their basic needs eg personal care and food and drink but every day the residents just sit there asleep or staring or wandering around. The unit is very quiet and no activities, no interactions or communications. I have also found the food is very poor quality and is usually cold and very small portions and some carers put the cake on the same plate as the main meal. My Dad's room is not cleaned every day and for 3 days running the same sticky spot was still on the floor near his chair and bits were left behind on his chair.

I have worked in Health and Social Care for the last 19 years. My Social Care journey started as a Support Worker specifically working with dementia. I did this for 5 years before deciding to go to university to become a Nurse. I completed my nurse training while having a very young family and once qualified I worked as a Surgical Nurse which I really enjoyed. After 4 years I decided I wanted to go back to the kind of nursing that I loved, working and supporting people living with dementia.

I started working as a nurse in a nursing home found my passion again and progressed to a Deputy position in a small Nursing Home. I moved on once I heard about Kitwood House, and I started there when the home first opened as a Clinical Lead, progressing to Deputy Manager and now Home Manager.

I thoroughly enjoy working at Kitwood House and am eager to continue to contribute to its ongoing success and feel that I have built strong working relationships with residents, relatives and staff.

On a more personal level, I am a mum to 3 boys and will be getting married in January 2025. I don’t have too much time for hobbies, as I also have 2 dogs which keep me very busy. I am so lucky to have a lot of support from my family and parents who have always pushed me to achieve what I want to, and they are always behind me encouraging me.
