The environment at Meadow View is beautiful, with spacious bedrooms with walk-in wet rooms, a sun terrace, welcoming lounges, a salon and cinema room.

But it’s the team, who were proud to receive a Good rating in every area in the latest CQC report (August 2023), that make it feel like home. Providing residential and dementia care, they also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance.

Staff are passionate about enriching their residents’ lives, and every single day, come rain or shine, every member of the team stops what they are doing to spend time doing impromptu activities with the residents.

Meadow View is a thriving, vibrant home, where residents enjoy everything from baking, painting, gardening and reminiscence sessions, to pampering, live music and regular visits from their favourite therapy dog.

This summer (July 2023) the staff organised a ‘Virtual Cruise Week’, where they transported residents to countries across the globe. The chef recreated authentic cuisine from Ghana, Portugal and Italy to name but a few, staff dressed to the nines and the residents took part in themed activities.

And talking of food, the home’s chef, who won Best Chef in the South East Region at this year’s Sanctuary Care Chefs’ Conference (2023), makes delicious home-made meals every day, as well as home-baked treats for afternoon tea. She knows her residents’ nutritional needs and what they love to eat, spending time getting their feedback, which shapes her menus. And every day, she creates ‘show plates’ so her residents, particularly those living with dementia who may struggle to choose, can see and smell the food, stimulating their appetite.

The gardens are magnificent, with a summer house, wheelchair-friendly pathways and a water feature. This summer the residents enjoyed growing their own vegetables, harvesting them to use in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of achievement.

My mother has dementia and required respite care on two recent occasions and Meadow View was the right choice after viewing several care homes in the area.
The staff at Meadow View were exceptional in assisting with the care and respite required for my mother, particularly as she is also blind. I viewed
the care home, including the garden, TV lounge (with two budgies), restaurant and the available bedroom on the ground floor and discussed the care plan my mother would require. The meal menus are great and my mother commented on how good they were and how much she enjoyed them, she even had her nails painted whilst in respite. The Care Home was safe and secure for my mother, especially having everything she required on the ground floor with key coded entrance/exit doors.
All of the staff are very caring and I would certainly recommend this home as a safe, caring environment for those we love.

My husband, suffering from advancing dementia, became very difficult and obstinate especially about the people trying to care for him. The staff at Meadow View dealt with this admirably and were always helpful and supportive towards me as well.

My father was a resident of Meadow View from September 2016 until May 2019. He initially went there because of his physical deterioration but he subsequently suffered from extreme dementia due to his Parkinson's.
It is always easy to pick fault with places and, yes, I had niggles over some aspects
of his stay there. However, overall I cannot fault the level of care he received from the staff at all levels and roles. Even when he was living in a little world of his own, when members of staff came to his room, it was clear from the lighting up of his eyes that he was happy with them looking after him.
When he passed away, I was very touched that a couple of carers took the time, their own free time, to come to his funeral. When we went to clear his room, we were very touched at the number of people who came to give their condolences.
If you want a care home that is caring, this is the one.

My friend was a resident at Meadow View since February 2016. She entered the Home following a fall at home and suffered from very bad leg ulcers and was at the beginning of Dementia. Unfortunately during the time she was a resident, her Dementia worsened and subsequently, she deteriorated. During
all the time of her stay, she was cared for with compassion and dignity.


All the staff, from the receptionist to the care staff were very professional in their attention of my friend and was very impressed with her care. The visiting supporting Staff who came to engage in activities with the residents were also professional in the dealings with them. Playing cards, playing music to suit their age group. The home even had a 24hr cyclethon (of which I took part) to raise money to add to and improve facilities within the home.


I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this home to prospective residents.

The care given to my husband during his 2 and a half year stay at Meadow view are beyond words. There was care and unconditional love. This was also offered to myself as his wife.
I shall never forget the staff, we were so lucky to find Meadow View.

My experience with Meadow View was good. The staff were excellent, always eager to help and treated me with great respect. They also looked after my dying wife with great dignity. The only downside to Meadow View was the cleanliness. It could have been so much better. Plus there seemed to be a shortage
of cleaning staff. Plenty of caring staff.

Staff are changed to different departments most days so no continuity of care, i.e. staff don't know or not been there and no follow up phone calls to relatives when they were promised.
General cleaning poor, dirty and stained carpets, sticky tables and chairs throughout, rooms and toilet dirty, carpets
stained, lack of hygiene.
Laundry service poor, clothes going missing when clearly name marked, cloths returned to wrong rooms, clients dressed in other persons clothes.
The staff all work hard at what they do but change department (floors) frequently so no continuity of care as every day are dealing with different clients.
Because of this, clients find it hard adjusting to the different staff on a daily basis. Also, the staff are unaware of how the client was the day before, also not able to report any changes to relatives.

Mum has been a resident for nearly 3 years and in all that time care and respect has been shown at all times. A new Manager has recently been in post and is arranging relatives meetings every month. Last month was his first meeting and he has done everything asked. Family members that can only visit
weekends do not appreciate the activities that take place during the week, but having a photo album for us to look through has made a difference. Newsletters have been produced which again has enabled the family to have a bit of an insight into the daily lives of the residents. It was good that mum is "travelling around the world" through food and not just her imagination. Well done to the Manager and all staff, I can't praise the care staff enough. They do care!

My mother was taken into care in October 2017 suffering from dementia. She was well looked after by the staff. She fell ill in July and was taken to hospital in an ambulance. What I find hard to believe is that no one from the home went in the ambulance with her. I arrived at the hospital two hours
later to find my mother in A&E all alone and wondering where she was.

Staff and manager are excellent. The design is fairly good, being a new build and all and has a nice, though spartan garden. Clothes go missing a lot, however.
Because of the way it's built though it does feel like an institution. If you're going to send your loved ones there though make sure they're
not sent upstairs unless they are completely gone because its impossible for residents to go downstairs and into the garden without relatives help. The balcony upstairs remains locked and out of bounds virtually all the time so residents upstairs can't go out so in nice weather it is perhaps just an attractive design feature next to the heavily used main road that can be quite noisy and disturbing for the residents (not good if you got dementia as well as the pollution and sirens) should have been built behind their commercial houses. After two years, there still isn't a minibus to take the residents out and give them and the staff some relief from the place which is a pity for such a rich company.

The Home Manager said: Thank you for your review and lovely comment about our team, who try to make Meadow View as warm and welcoming as possible. We do ask for clothes to be labelled but I appreciate sometimes these may come off or wear off. Our gardener has been working hard to keep the garden looking as lovely as possible in the hot weather and we’re hopeful now it’s cooled down a bit this will give the plants the chance to re-establish themselves. We lock the balcony for safety reasons as it is on the first floor, but will always open it when asked which is something we explain to our residents and their loved ones. Some of our residents love to spend time in the garden and we are more than happy to accompany them outside – irrespective of what floor they are on. In terms of trips out, we are able to hire a community minibus. If you would ever like to discuss anything please do feel free to come and see me, my door is always open.

The care my father received over two years he spent at Meadow View enabled him to enjoy a quality of life that would not have been possible had he remained under care arrangements at home. The standard of the rooms is excellent, as you would expect from a purpose built modern care home. I would have
no hesitation in recommending the Meadow View Care Home at Hersden near Canterbury.

My father has been with Meadow View for the last two years. During his stay, the care he has received has been first class and the staff have been friendly and attentive. The room was excellent with superb en-suite facilities and a lovely view over the gardens. I could not have wished for a better

The care that Mum received at Meadow View was second to none! She presented with some extremely challenging behaviours due to frontal temporal dementia and was physically very active; wanting to go out for walks all the time. Staff managed this with great care, love, enthusiasm and an amazing sense
of humour. They went out of their way to allow Mum as much independence as was possible and treated her with dignity and respect.
During the year that Mum lived there, it was not only her home but somewhere that we could all visit and be made to feel welcome 'part of a happy family'. We never doubted that she was safe and well looked after and when she became suddenly quite poorly, staff responded professionally and efficiently; good communication with each other, GP and with family was maintained at all times.
I can never thank them enough for the peace of mind and for the quality of care throughout the time she lived there.

My previous place - 'Hades'. This place - 'Heaven'. The place is exceptional along with the staff. I have never experienced, anywhere, a more caring staff. In my case, in 'Hades', I was dying. Here, I have made a full recovery. I will always be very grateful for this place for giving me a future.

As a family, we were distressed and heartbroken when our father could no longer be cared for at home. Due to Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia, he was in need of 24-hour care which, as a family, were unable to provide safely. Our mother, who bore the brunt of the care, was suffering from carer
burden. While our father was in emergency respite care, we began the upsetting task of viewing care homes. As a family, we found most homes lacking and could not agree. Some homes seemed caring but were old and dingy. Others were modern but lacked character. However, we were delighted to find "Meadow View". We can't thank you enough.

Thank you for the care, patience, concern and support offered to my mother during her time with you.
Each and every one of you has made mum’s time with you special. Your support and tenderness to her has been outstanding and can be recognised by the many statements of love she made to each of you.
We
know that Mum’s passing will leave a space in your hearts as it does ours. But we believe that thanks to each of you, mum was able to enjoy her last years in a way that we could never have provided for and her final months in the presence of a wonderful team of caring and compassionate individuals whose only ambition was that her distress and discomfort were minimised.

We have been caring for our aunt for 7 years now, she suddenly deteriorated needing 24/7 care. We visited a few care homes and they didn't provide what we wanted for our aunt, safety, companionship, activities, care and lovely clean comfortable room and ensuite until we were recommended Meadow View.
From our 1st telephone call it was sold to us. The staff have been so supportive of auntie and us, auntie is safe, has a wonderful room, lots of activities etc, she looks better than she has for months (so do we). All in all, we can't recommend Meadow View enough especially certain staff. Thank you all so much.

Meadow View is a wonderful Care Home and is the finest example of how a Care Home should be run.
The Home keeps you informed of your relatives welfare and condition and nothing is too much trouble. The staff are very caring and go that extra mile to make the residents feel cared for and comfortable.
You
can visit at any time and are always made welcome with a cup of tea, so what you see is what is happening all the time, so no set visiting times. During the last days of my step-father's life, he was made very comfortable, staff were sitting reading to him during his last hours and the family feels assured that his passing was very peaceful.
Thanks a million to the staff, you deserve medals.

  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
