I could write much more about how happy we are with this home.
My Mum has been here for nearly a year. It was a very difficult time, having to turn the daily care over of someone so deeply loved. Mum was having frequent anger issues, was struggling with eating and refused most attempts to help with
personal care. The staff here have been consistently excellent in all aspects. They all know my name and they all say hello - all of them. It has a very family feel to it. It is sometimes hard leaving at the end of a visit but we leave knowing that my Mum is loved and cared for, but most importantly that she is happy.

My husband was transferred from the hospital to Meadowbrook Care Home on the 19th of December 2022. At first, I wasn't happy for him, concerns regarding his welfare but the past four months - care, room and food are very, very good. I can't praise them enough for the care and attention given to him.

The staff are brilliant, the food is home-cooked! The rooms are spotless, there is no smell in the home. The staff are caring, compassionate and make you feel welcome and dementia is not easy to handle. I can't thank them enough for the love and care they give my husband. Thank you all.

I have never had a worry about having my dad live at Meadowbrook. Even from the first day, I remember leaving him in the capable hands of the staff. They have looked after him exceptionally well ever since. Dad has been a challenge sometimes but always cared for in a way to help him feel less anxious
and frustrated.

On arrival, the reception staff are very helpful and alert. The caring staff are extremely helpful and attend to my wife on a one-to-one basis. I am a very frequent visitor and they recognise and greet me affably. They also keep me informed of any needs my wife may have in order that I supply them quickly.

My cousin appears to have settled in well here. The staff have always been exceptionally pleasant and my cousin appears in good spirits and I have seen an improvement, particularly in his speech. He seems comfortable and well cared for.

My husband has been a resident at Meadowbrook Care Home since May 2022. He was unsettled for a time, but all the staff did all they could to help him settle in. Every member of staff within Meadowbrook, I have found to be very friendly and helpful and do the most they can for the residents. The home
is clean, the food is good and the residents are encouraged to join in the social activities that are put on for them. It was our wedding anniversary this week and they laid on a finger buffet for us. I would certainly recommend Meadowbrook Care Home.

My mother was admitted for an initial 2 weeks as part of assessment/re-enablement. She had a fall, was left with a fractured hip several days before anything was done. Despite my concerns over my mother's deterioration the team said she was choosing to stay in bed. Poor communication, poor organisation
when myself and ambulance arrived. Family not kept updated or informed. Family not spoken to re care planning, personal information, etc. My mother was in absolute agony when being moved and she was sitting on a mattress of cold urine on my arrival. She died at hospital the following day.

My husband went into the home for 2 weeks of respite care. He had Parkinson's and dementia. Sadly, after four days, he was admitted to hospital for treatment and then palliative care. The care home agreed for him to go back to the home for this, where he later (3 days) passed away. The manager and nursing
staff have been wonderful and given me support.

Night staff not assessing resident's care needs and when day staff took over the doctor was rung immediately. Bearing in mind the resident had only been discharged from the hospital two days earlier and was vulnerable.

The care staff are very good with the residents, they are like family.
Problem: Staff are not permanent, continuity I feel is very important, and there is at times a problem with food - bad selection - badly cooked - very often not enough to go round for everyone.

My review only covers the Garrett Unit. Very happy with the care given. The lack of staff on a very dependable unit, at times, is quite dangerous. When only 2 staff, this leaves the unit unattended at times.
Food needs better preparation.

Whilst in Garrett Ward we found that the ward was not suitable for my husband's needs, therefore he was transferred to a lovely room on Mary Powell Unit where he now is.
Staff are helpful but still wonder whether this is the right place, anyway, we shall see what the medical team think.

Staff are very hard working and caring but they are continually under pressure because of understaffing. I know there are guidelines and laws to ensure a certain number of carers to match numbers of residents on unit and the level of care needed however these are minimum staffing levels, to run this
business properly and decently you need to have more staff on at any one time. Meals need to be better cooked with better ingredients.
