My 97 year old mother's admission to Mearns House was the result of an illness at home culminating in emergency hospital admission.
Recovering in hospital she asked, despite not being enthusiastic for care homes, that I find her somewhere for her remaining years.
I live in England, 350 miles away and we have a few members of family in Glasgow so the care home had to be in the Glasgow area.
Mearns House had only recently opened so there was no track record to review. However the location is ideal, Mearns House property, rooms and facilities are attractive. First impressions were important and other homes we visited did not impress when visually compared to Mearns House. We understood that as a new start there could be teething problems and staffing numbers had to grow in line with new residents intake - however, I was prepared to live with this.

We are in our infancy with Mearns House and so far, so good. I like the openness and access to staff at all levels. It is friendly and facilities are very attractive. My mother seems to have settled in well and appears to like the staff and the fact they take time for a friendly chat as they go about their duties.

Hi David,

Thank you for your input and support.
It is certainly true that all new homes have "teething problems", luckily ours have been very few.

We are continuing to build our staff team to accommodate all the new residents that are choosing to stay at Mearns House and we are doing this with...
