Overall Experience
We have recently moved our mum here from a previous care home. The difference in Orchard Manor is, as they say, like night and day.
Whilst mum's dementia is deteriorating, and I know she can be a little 'difficult, ' the staff are amazing and so caring.
The home itself is very modern, bright and breezy, and her room is lovely, leading out onto a garden and patio area. It feels more like a hotel than a care home.
What we like is that the residents are mixed and she is not restricted to a 'dementia' floor. The fees are very reasonable compared to where she was, and includes a weekly hairdressing appointment and any Chiropody she needs.
Everyday they have a full programme of activities, and many weekly outings.
My mum was hardly eating before, but as the food on offer is so good, she has found her appetite again. She especially likes the chocolate trolley, and the afternoon tea and cake!

All in all we are very happy she is here and wish we had found Orchard Manor sooner.

Orchard Manor is I believe one of the best care homes I have visited . All the staff generally care about the residents staying there. Their commitment and dedication to making OM a 'home away from home ' is outstanding . Their daily activities keep the residents happy and occupied . Visits from outside providers/entertainers is clearly thought about and caters for everyone's taste. Residents are well looked after and there is a genuine happy atmosphere in the care home. Staff are led by an excellent Manager which makes for a very happy , professional team working there . You feel a general warmth and welcoming atmosphere arriving at OM, from the lady at reception through to the housekeeping team . Their daily activities staff are incredible , well done to you all. I could not wish for a better place for my father to be residing at. I am also always made to feel very welcome to have lunch with my father at any visit . A pleasure to visit when I can .

Orchard Manor made moving my lovely mother-in-law closer to us such a seamless process, they were all set and ready to attend to her needs and make her feel right at home. And that was the thing, it felt like a home from the moment we set foot inside, and we have seen a few. There is kindness and care to make every resident feel valued and cared for, unique and understood with swift action when needed. I have heard the manager say that the staff work in what is their home (the residents), and it feels like that, like one family, living in beautiful spacious surroundings in a quiet natural rural setting with trees and birds outside the window, as well as activities. As ever, it all comes down to individual staff members who really go the extra mile, whether that's care, getting the right bed set up, cleaning, laundry, meals, or going into the garden together. They take the time to get to know her and her sense of humour, and that means a lot. Thank you all.

Dad has been at Orchard Manor since the beginning of May 2025. Everyone who visits say it's like a 5 star hotel not just in the lovely surroundings but the level of care. So in dad's words when I asked if he was happy "they are fantastic here, they can't do enough for me" then I said how are you, his reply "I'm pretty great!" Dad has Alzheimer's and is happy, well cared for and feels safe. He joins in with the excellent timetable of events too.

Would highly recommend!

Both my parents are at Orchard Manor and have been for nine months now. I've been very pleased with the care they both receive. They have different needs and are treated as individuals, but also as a a couple. They have rooms next to each other and generally have their meals together. The staff have gotten to know my parents individual ways and have always been friendly and supportive.

I chose to place my mother in Orchard Manor in April 2025 having visited several other care homes in my local area. After my first visit to the home I came away feeling that there was something different about the home. There is a genuine feeling of care, that it is the residents home and the staff fully respect this. This leads to a culture where the residents have a voice, and their voice is heard. There is a very strong sense of family, where everyone is equal and are all cared for equally. I too really like the fact that there is no 'dementia unit' or 'dementia floor' and that those with dementia are cared for 'alongside everybody else'. My experience of this is that there is no feeling of division or 'us and them' in the home. This has a very positive effect. I have never felt this is any other care home ~ and I have been to quite a few. There is a lot more I could say, but just to add, the staff are outstanding and to me, Orchard Manor is exceptional.

Mum went in for 2 weeks respite and thoroughly enjoyed her stay. She has severe mobility issues but apparently she gained confidence and was able to walk a few steps using the zimmer frame. She loved the entertainment and was looked after very well by the very caring team, she can't wait to go back for a second visit!

After an initial period of respite care last year, my Dad moved to Orchard Manor as a permanent resident earlier this year. It's a huge adjustment for everyone, but I am so pleased to have found Orchard Manor. The rooms are lovely, the communal areas are spacious and comfortable, there is a beautiful garden and an amazing range of activities laid on for the residents every day. I also like the fact that people with dementia are cared for alongside everybody else, and have the same access to the building and activities. But by far the most important thing is the carers and staff. The management team were so supportive and helpful during the transition out of hospital, they go to incredible efforts to put on the activities and wonderful special events (like performances, bake sales and themed BBQs), and the day-to-day level of care is wonderful. I have witnessed some beautiful examples of caring, that have been very touching - I feel very lucky and confident my Dad is in good hands.

My mum has advanced dementia and went into respite for the first time. My mum enjoyed it, she was well taken care of, the environment allowed her to wander safely and there was gardening and a lot of activities available.
Staff were kind and helpful and her room was really clean and well designed.l was worried about her going into respite but it went well and we are really thankful to all the staff.

I would definitely recommend this home.

In the four months that my mother has lived at Orchard Manor she has become far more sociable. Physically she has improved greatly with daily chair yoga and walking. There is plenty to keep her occupied. She engages well with staff and fellow residents.

She enjoyed a lovely Christmas and has a new found confidence in many aspects.

I am always delighted to visit Orchard Manor Care Home as I am immediately made to feel welcome. I know that the care that is offered to my mother is of a high quality and I see the lovely relationships that have developed with the many staff there. My husband came into the care home with dementia in 8 months ago. He and I have both been treated with the upmost respect and the staff are amazing. They all understand the quirks of my husband and encourage him to join in the numerous activities but leave him in peace if that what he wants that day. The food is amazing as I have sampled many a time, including Christmas and New Years Eve dinner. As a partner, I am allowed to come and go as much as I like, which makes me feel special. The staff helped me get through the difficult time of putting my husband in care in the first place, phoning me every day when I was an emotional wreck. I can not thank them enough!

My mother joined the Orchard Manor family last March. She has and continues to be beautifully cared for. The delightful staff are aware of individual needs and likes. Each member of staff whether from the care, housekeeping, catering team etc constantly maintain an extremely high standard.
Family and friends are included in all celebrations. All the Christmas events were amazing.

My mother continually tells me she could not be in a better place and I totally agree.

My father has been at Orchard Manor for 11 months, he is very happy there. The facilities in the rooms are excellent and the rooms are nice and airy. The bathroom is fully ensuite with a walk in shower. The lounges are warm and inviting and the staff arrange a number of different activities each day, everything from balloon tennis to cookie making to a harpist coming in. They have a very wide range of activities arranged by the dedicated activities team and if I happen to be there when an activity is on I am welcome to join in.

My husband has been a 'guest' at Orchard Manor for three months now. He considers it to be a hotel - a five-star one at that! From the start of his stay we have been made to feel very welcome and at 'home'. All the staff from management to carers are caring and helpful. The house is beautifully designed, modern and clean. It is surrounded by lovely gardens. Daily activities are varied, fun and led by enthusiastic staff. I am very grateful that I am also 'cared' for by the staff and look forward to spending time at Orchard Manor.
