My mother was a resident here for just over two months. From day one, all of the staff went out of their way to help her feel comfortable as she settled in, and she was encouraged to join in with the many activities whenever she felt well enough to do so.
As visitors, we were always greeted warmly
and offered compassion and refreshments. Every member of the care team showed great empathy and kindness to all of us.
The end-of-life care that was offered to my mother was exceptional in every aspect, and we are very pleased that we chose Overstone House.

Mum has been a resident at Overstone House for over six months, and I am delighted at the level of care, support and dignity she is continually shown. She has really come out of her shell and joins in with many of the varied and interesting activities on offer. It is wonderful to see Mum smiling and
enjoying herself, and when the family visit, we are made to feel extremely welcome by all the staff. I am so pleased that we chose Overstone House - Mum is incredibly well looked after and is thriving in the wonderful surroundings. I cannot thank all the staff enough for the ongoing care, attention and kindness they show her.

My stepdad went into respite here in August 2023 to give my mum a rest. I took her away to the seaside and she loved the break. At Overstone House the were wonderful. Special mention to two members of staff who were wonderful with him, they are very caring and friendly people.
Would love to have the
opportunity of him being here permanently when the time is right.

I cannot praise Overstone House enough. The level of care and attention the staff provide to the residents is above and beyond. The staff are friendly, patient and always attentive as well as welcoming to visitors. They have a range of activities for the residents to do and always encourage the residents
to take part. My gran loves the regular haircuts and having her nails painted.
The care home itself is well maintained with a lovely outside space and gardens. When I leave, I feel content knowing how well my Gran is looked after and that’s all you could ask for.

Having made several visits to see a friend, the home seems to be very efficient and well-staffed for the residents. Being a new build, all facilities seem first-class. My experience on the first visit was of very helpful staff to see my friend who had only been in the home seven days.
First impressions
of the home and staff were extremely good.

My mum, who has dementia, stayed at Overstone House for some respite care. What a fabulous place! They looked after her so well and I know she really enjoyed herself. It was her birthday while she was there and she was thoroughly spoiled - the chef baked her a special cake and she was treated like a
queen!

Mum even joined in some of the activities while she was there, which was wonderful to see, as she’s usually quite shy. When it came time to bring her home, she was sad to leave.

The staff are simply fantastic - nothing was ever too much trouble and Mum was treated with so much care and compassion. We were a bit nervous about Mum going into respite care for the first time, but we needn’t have worried - and we wouldn’t hesitate to call on Overstone House again if we needed them.

Wow, what a fantastic place and people! From the minute you walk in, to going to see my uncle and leaving I received such a warm welcome. The residents are treated with such care, as if they are their own family. Also just blown away with all the smiles, help, friendly chat which allowed me to enjoy
my visit to see my uncle. I was very impressed with the building, furnishing and car park. Highly recommended. Well done.

After a shaky start, with her falling over on numerous occasions and a price hike after only a couple of months, which was not, in our opinion, the correct thing to do. We should have been informed of this from the start. Nothing things seem to have settled down, and she seems happy, which is the most
important factor.

I can’t fault the care they provide. The carers are kind and thoughtful and have respect for the residents.
The staff are always happy, and nothing is too much trouble.
I would say the only thing is that my dad wears a sheath, and a lot of the staff don’t have any experience dealing with them, so
in-house training with these would be beneficial to residents and carers.
I am disappointed that the fees are going up as we were not expecting an increase until Dad had been a resident for a year.
Thank you all for making Dad and my family welcome - keep up the good work.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.837)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.837) out of 10 for Overstone House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.837 for Overstone House is calculated as follows: ( (204 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 239 Ratings = 4.837
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Overstone House is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

I started my career in sales and customer service positions in various settings. I gained a lot of experience in customer relations which led me to train in floristry and start my own business in Greece.
15 years ago, I changed career completely, working as a community home carer in Norfolk. Following this I moved to Northampton and became a rehab support worker in acquired brain injury, at this point I knew that I’d found my passion in care and determined to progress my career in this area. I went back to university and trained as a nurse, I returned to practice and gained knowledge and experience, progressing from junior to senior management, and finally taking up the role of registered home manager.
If I’m honest, I started working in care purely for the convenience of childcare and working hours; I am a naturally caring person and with family commitments to consider, this seemed like the perfect job for me. It didn’t take long to realise that this was where I wanted to be, working in care gave me the opportunity to make a difference, which gave me great satisfaction. My role has changed significantly over the years, but I still get that same satisfaction everyday making a difference to the lives of my residents and their families. I love getting to know my residents and what they need to ensure this happens.
I have very high standards and expect the same from my team. I plan to make Overstone House the best residential care home in the area. I strongly believe everyone is different and unique and should be treated accordingly by offering the best standards of person-centred care.
When I'm not working, I like to unwind by spending time outdoors exploring new places, especially if there are mountain views and waterfalls. My passion for hiking, cycling, climbing, and kayaking has led me to discover new places and new adventures.

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2022

Alexandra has been working in the care industry for over 8 years when she began her career in housekeeping, quickly moving across into care when she secured a job as a care assistant. Alexandra began her career with Anchor at our sister home, Glenvale Park where she worked her way up to deputy, eventually transferring across to us here at Overstone, where she took on the role of deputy manager.

Alexandra always wanted to work in the caring industry, initially, she wanted to be a nurse or a paramedic, however as Alex worked her way up through the ranks she very quickly realised that she had found her vocation in care.

When Alex is not here at Overstone House, caring for our residents and supporting our team, she loves to spend time cooking and baking, and spending time with her family. Alex has a husband and one son, and enjoying quality time with them is extremely important to her.
