Very caring- we couldn't wish for another place for our mum to be cared for!

I started my career in sales and customer service positions in various settings. I gained a lot of experience in customer relations which led me to train in floristry and start my own business in Greece.
15 years ago, I changed career completely, working as a community home carer in Norfolk. Following this I moved to Northampton and became a rehab support worker in acquired brain injury, at this point I knew that I’d found my passion in care and determined to progress my career in this area. I went back to university and trained as a nurse, I returned to practice and gained knowledge and experience, progressing from junior to senior management, and finally taking up the role of registered home manager.
If I’m honest, I started working in care purely for the convenience of childcare and working hours; I am a naturally caring person and with family commitments to consider, this seemed like the perfect job for me. It didn’t take long to realise that this was where I wanted to be, working in care gave me the opportunity to make a difference, which gave me great satisfaction. My role has changed significantly over the years, but I still get that same satisfaction everyday making a difference to the lives of my residents and their families. I love getting to know my residents and what they need to ensure this happens.
I have very high standards and expect the same from my team. I plan to make Overstone House the best residential care home in the area. I strongly believe everyone is different and unique and should be treated accordingly by offering the best standards of person-centred care.
When I'm not working, I like to unwind by spending time outdoors exploring new places, especially if there are mountain views and waterfalls. My passion for hiking, cycling, climbing, and kayaking has led me to discover new places and new adventures.
I have experience within healthcare for over 20 years and have enjoyed most roles including registered manager. I have a good understanding of good care principles and the ability to show empathy and warmth.
I enjoy knitting in my own time and have featured in local papers due to this hobby. I also enjoy spending time with my grandchildren.
Alexandra has been working in the care industry for over 8 years when she began her career in housekeeping, quickly moving across into care when she secured a job as a care assistant. Alexandra began her career with Anchor at our sister home, Glenvale Park where she worked her way up to deputy, eventually transferring across to us here at Overstone, where she took on the role of deputy manager.
Alexandra always wanted to work in the caring industry, initially, she wanted to be a nurse or a paramedic, however as Alex worked her way up through the ranks she very quickly realised that she had found her vocation in care.
When Alex is not here at Overstone House, caring for our residents and supporting our team, she loves to spend time cooking and baking, and spending time with her family. Alex has a husband and one son, and enjoying quality time with them is extremely important to her.
