My father-in-law has been here for three months now. I can say the staff are great and very caring, and the home is very clean and welcoming. A big thanks to everyone for the great work they do. If you're looking for your loved one for a care home, give this a look.

From the very first time I stepped through the doors of Overstone House, I felt trust in the staff and in the environment - that they would provide what my father needed. The fact that it is a new home and pristine in every way added to my confidence. My father came to the home, not knowing it was his
forever home, but from his last day and night was "at home", enjoying the attention and interaction with carers. Your policy of allowing visitors at any time is a tremendous asset. My father's visitors have also commented on how well my father is and how lovely they have found both home, staff and environment. Thank you all.
Reply from Emma Hopper, Home Manager at Overstone HouseThank you for taking the time to review our home. We are so glad you trust us and feel your father is getting the best care possible.

My mum came to Overstone House after being in respite and then being admitted to the hospital. The assessments carried out by Overstone were done thoroughly and quickly due to my mum being discharged from the hospital, and we (the family) were able to get Mum's room looking homely with her ornaments
and clothes etc. The staff welcomed my mum with open arms and have been very patient, respectful and supportive of Mum since she moved in. They are all so friendly and approachable with both Mum and all our family. I feel so reassured Mum is being looked after so well.
Reply from Emma Hopper, Home Manager at Overstone HouseThank you so much for sharing your experience of Overstone House with us. I am delighted to hear that you are reassured and that you are happy with the care provided for Mum.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.734)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.734) out of 10 for Overstone House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.809 for Overstone House is calculated as follows: ( (169 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 204 Ratings = 4.809
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Overstone House is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

I started my career in sales and customer service positions in various settings. I gained a lot of experience in customer relations which led me to train in floristry and start my own business in Greece.
15 years ago, I changed career completely, working as a community home carer in Norfolk. Following this I moved to Northampton and became a rehab support worker in acquired brain injury, at this point I knew that I’d found my passion in care and determined to progress my career in this area. I went back to university and trained as a nurse, I returned to practice and gained knowledge and experience, progressing from junior to senior management, and finally taking up the role of registered home manager.
If I’m honest, I started working in care purely for the convenience of childcare and working hours; I am a naturally caring person and with family commitments to consider, this seemed like the perfect job for me. It didn’t take long to realise that this was where I wanted to be, working in care gave me the opportunity to make a difference, which gave me great satisfaction. My role has changed significantly over the years, but I still get that same satisfaction everyday making a difference to the lives of my residents and their families. I love getting to know my residents and what they need to ensure this happens.
I have very high standards and expect the same from my team. I plan to make Overstone House the best residential care home in the area. I strongly believe everyone is different and unique and should be treated accordingly by offering the best standards of person-centred care.
When I'm not working, I like to unwind by spending time outdoors exploring new places, especially if there are mountain views and waterfalls. My passion for hiking, cycling, climbing, and kayaking has led me to discover new places and new adventures.

I have experience within healthcare for over 20 years and have enjoyed most roles including registered manager. I have a good understanding of good care principles and the ability to show empathy and warmth.

I enjoy knitting in my own time and have featured in local papers due to this hobby. I also enjoy spending time with my grandchildren.

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2022

Alexandra has been working in the care industry for over 8 years when she began her career in housekeeping, quickly moving across into care when she secured a job as a care assistant. Alexandra began her career with Anchor at our sister home, Glenvale Park where she worked her way up to deputy, eventually transferring across to us here at Overstone, where she took on the role of deputy manager.

Alexandra always wanted to work in the caring industry, initially, she wanted to be a nurse or a paramedic, however as Alex worked her way up through the ranks she very quickly realised that she had found her vocation in care.

When Alex is not here at Overstone House, caring for our residents and supporting our team, she loves to spend time cooking and baking, and spending time with her family. Alex has a husband and one son, and enjoying quality time with them is extremely important to her.
