  • Pingley Court Care Home, Sheffield
Located in the heart of the popular Woodseats area of Sheffield, Pingley Court is easily accessible from the major motorway networks and is just a 10-minute drive from Sheffield train station.

The home provides full time and short term residential and dementia care (including early onset dementia for people over 50), daycare and has a community room for community events.

Pingley Court is a purpose-built care home that has been newly renovated in early 2019 to a very high standard by its new management team.

Accommodation is spread across two floors with 27 rooms on each, which helps to maintain the home's cosy feel. One floor is dedicated to dementia care while the other is for general residential care. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and include en-suite facilities.

Each floor has it's own seating area and dining area which provide picturesque views of the adjoining woods and stream. Access to the upper floor is made easy by the passenger lift and the corridors are wide and have conveniently located handrails to make moving around comfortable and secure.

The home also has a large community and activities room on the lower ground floor where residents and staff enjoy the various activities, events and entertainment that the home provides. It also has it's own hair and beauty salon.

It was a difficult time for all of us accepting mum could no longer manage on her own in her home, following another hospital admission we decided to look for some care for her on discharge. From my first contact with the manager at Pingley Court, I could not be happier with the efficiency and care
of this wonderful team. My lovely mum is incredibly independent but slowly she has settled in and made lovely relationships with all the team and the other residents.

When possible mum gets to go out to a local garden centre or coffee shop and she loves to sit out on the patio. There are lots of activities and a little salon for hair and nails, she loves her Friday blow dry. Visiting is easy to arrange, the safety of the residents is paramount, and testing and PPE are all in place. My brother and I take mum out and we can visit her either in the room or in the pod. Pingley is clearly a well-run ship and the care staff are second to none. Thank you for looking after our precious mum.

My brother went into care on the 21st December 2020. Since then, I have only been to his room once. When I visit, it is to a pod. What I have seen at the home is good. The staff are friendly, and I am hoping he will be taken out on trips to stimulate him. Some ratings I could not give an answer to.
My brother is self-funding and does not know if it is value for money or not.

My dear mum has been a resident at Pingley Court Care Home for some time. She is quite a formidable character and isn't always happy to be helped and receive care. The staff there have created a wonderful relationship with her, using their warmth and good humour to get around most of the difficulties
she presents. Undoubtedly the pandemic has presented its challenges as well and again the commitment to good care of the residents has remained unwaning.

Everything that could be done to keep everyone safe has been done to the highest
degree. There are always lots of fun activities to participate in and this is encouraged where appropriate. My sister and I travel some miles to visit our mum and this is always taken into consideration by the staff when we are able to visit. We are always warmly welcomed and we are also very well looked after. Visits can be emotional and very difficult and the staff recognise this and are always very kind and amenable.

A huge thank you to you all.

Mum went into Pingley Court mid-November for respite and is now a resident. Mum has flourished under the excellent care and kindness of the staff. She has gained weight, which was needed and no doubt this is down to good food. During these difficult times when we have been unable to visit, staff have
kept us connected with video calls and social media. It has been lovely seeing photos of mum get involved in some of the activities on offer, especially the baking. A big thank you to all the staff at Pingley. So glad we found you.

Mum has settled in really well, all the staff are very caring and go out of their way to keep in contact with the family during this pandemic. Every aspect of mum's care has been well managed, and her overall health has greatly improved. She has also been able to take part in lots of activities which
she did not have access to in her own home. We are so thankful that mum is safe, warm and content in a home which creates a family atmosphere.
Reply from Sam Marjara, Director at Pingley Court Care HomeThank you, Jenny, for such a lovely review. Such a wonderful, caring home for my mum. All the staff treat the residents as their own family and love and care for them accordingly. The manager is very proactive, enabling the residents to take part in a variety of events like craft making, singing, walks, baking, spa days and the list goes on.
They follow strictly the government guidelines on COVID. Lastly, I know my mum is safe and well and would like to thank all the staff for taking care of her.
Reply from Sam Marjara, Director at Pingley Court Care HomeThank you, Maria, for your heartfelt review. My sister has been in the care of Pingley Court Care Home for a long time know, I have cancer and can't see her. For Christmas I sent her a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates, I was told both the flowers and chocolates had been delivered as the order was from one shop. After speaking to my sister
she told me nothing had been sent to her, the shop say otherwise and have proof of delivery. My sister complained, the box of flowers were found but after four days they were dead, the box of chocolates were never to be seen again. If I am still living and my sister is still in Pingley Court Care Home next year I shall give the £50 to a charity of my sister's choice.

My mum was, the first resident in Pingley court over 16 months ago, the care she was given was out of this world, the girls at Pingley Court treat my mum as if she was their own. As a family we knew mum was safe & well cared for, especially when Covid-19 hit us all, she was kept safe and well.
Sadly
mum passed away on the 25th July still being cared for with the love of a great group of girls, it was a sad time for us all as we never got to visit in over 18 weeks.
We planned the funeral so we could drive past the home and what a welcome she received, the girls lined the street with balloons it was really appreciated by the family. Thank you, girls, for the great care our mum received and especially the greatest send-off you could have given her.

I honestly can’t thank the staff at Pingley Court enough for the excellent care they are providing to my mother who unfortunately has Alzheimer’s. The home has managed the Covid-19 pandemic in a caring professional manner keeping me updated and allowing me to visit mum safely. I think the manager and
carers deserve a special mention they really do go above and beyond to make my mum as happy and settled as possible. I love the Facebook posts and all the effort all the staff go to entertain the residents at this very difficult time. From the bottom of my heart thank you to you all you really are hero’s xxx

The staff have been amazing over the last 16 months, that mum has been in there especially this last few weeks when she suddenly took a turn for the worse and sadly passed away. We knew that under these current circumstances she was in the best hands with people who cared greatly for her, this was shown
by the way all the staff turned out and released balloons as we drove past on her final journey yesterday.

My beautiful mum went into Pingley Court last June, but unfortunately passed away yesterday. I cannot praise the staff enough, the care received was second to none and because she was end of life, I was allowed (with full PPE) to be with her at the end.
The staff are absolutely amazing (all grades)
and made the 11 months Mum was there some of the happiest times of her life. Mum laughed, joked and sang with the staff and nothing was too much trouble, person-centred doesn’t come close, they went above and beyond at all times.
When Mum passed, the staff supported me throughout to make sure I wasn’t alone. Thank you.
If you need a care home for a loved one, I can highly recommend Pingley Court. (I have been a manager of a home and know what I’m looking for) believe me, this is the best.
Well done to all, be proud.
Reply from Sam Marjara, Director at Pingley Court Care HomeThank you Kim for the lovely words which mean a lot to myself and the team in such difficult circumstances. It was a pleasure to care for Mum for the time she was with us, wishing you all the best and when we are back open we look forward to welcoming you for a coffee when is safe to do so. Warm regards to all.

My mum was in sheltered accommodation but we realised she needed more help to manage both her cancer and dementia. She moved into Pingley in August and it has been both a relief that she settled so well and that the staff are so helpful and caring. The food is always well balanced with residents having
two dining rooms. There is an outside area and also a great activity programme, with socialising and external trips in the Pingley van.
In these uncertain times, I'm so pleased Mum is in such a safe place.

My nan was taken into this home after developing Alzheimer’s and having a bad fall at home.
The staff and management were amazing! They couldn’t do enough for you. The rooms are cosy and very homely.
Sadly my nan passed away before she could sample the vast array of activities they provide.
I would
highly recommend this care home to anyone.

Our mum has had a difficult time over the past few months. My dad died and she had to move out of her home of 50 years and then she developed pneumonia. On my first visit to Pingley Court, I knew this would be the place where Mum would be cared for and be happy. The home is bright, clean and decorated
beautifully. The staff are very caring and treat the residents with respect. There are lots of activities to get involved in if they want to. Coronavirus has meant we cannot visit and this is upsetting, however, the staff have kept us informed with videos and photos on social media.
Finally, mum has settled very well and is happy and we feel assured she is being cared for in the best possible way.

Our aunty arrived at Pigley in June 2019 have been in hospital after numerous falls etc. She was diagnosed with alzheimers and is unable to cope without carers and supervision for medication and meals etc. Initially, after hospital discharge she came for 2 weeks respite then following advice from the
hospital, GP and the social mental health team, stating her home was unsuitable for her needs she became a permanent resident. She soon made friends with residents and we've witnessed her dancing and singing at events in the home. It is good that there will be more activities as she needs stimulation and loves going out for walks when taken. Having a chiropodist, hairdresser and optician etc available saves us having to make appointments and take her to them. Staff are friendly and sympathetic and willing to discuss any concerns we have with them and they contact us if there's anything we need to know.

mother would rather be at home of course, but she did love the place, staff were excellent, really good with residents, the manager introduced themself, very clean and food was excellent. Top marks from us. Thank you for all your care.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.596)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.596) out of 10 for Pingley Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.796 for Pingley Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (116 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 142 Ratings = 4.796
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pingley Court Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
