We at Richard House are disappointed to read this review and take any feedback such as this with seriousness. We are conscious that the reviewer and their loved one are present in the home and would like the opportunity to meet with you, investigate and provide a response to ensure this is resolved. We do acknowledge that during the winter period, sickness levels of team members may rise, however, would like to reassure you that the Home Manager and Care Manager directly support the team and residents during these occasions. Indeed, this was the case on any specific occasions during December. In relation to the Activities Coordinator - we have employed one individual into an activity role and have likely recruited into the other role for this too. Both are aiming to commence employment in January 2025. We would like to work with all residents, relatives and friends of Richard House to re-design the activity and event planner for the home for 2025. Once again, we value your feedback.

Hailing from a small Caribbean Island, unknown to most- The Commonwealth of Dominica, hail a daughter of the soil with a passion for caring. A family woman who invests her time in her work life, balanced with quality family time with her two children. Jackie as she is known to her friends, Julie to her colleagues is a friendly individual who thrives on ensuring her residents/patients, relatives, and all those who access our doors leave with an experience that they will forever remember and return in due course. The feeling of a warm and family-like structure should envelope all those in our care. Making meaningful improvements in the lives of our residents by providing the highest qualitative and quantitative care, through a workforce eager to deliver and maintain the standard set out by the company is at the forefront of what we do. Julie believes in leading from the front whilst we develop the body of knowledge which our staff share with one another. Julie believes that respect should be given at all times and that all staff will be knowledgeable about all our residents.
Julie was trained in the Caribbean but continued to build on her body of knowledge when she relocated to England to take on the role or Registered nurse at Grace Manor Nursing Home. Although new to the role in a changing environment, Julie was eager to learn and understand the new equipment used in this part of the world. The tenure was short-lived as her hospital life kept calling. After a year Julie's move to join the private sector hospital saw her move her young family to Lincolnshire where she worked her way from Registered nurse to Head of Clinical Services (Matron). Julie remained with this company for 16 years and the saying family comes first saw her make a move back into the care home in order that she may support her son. Working with a varied number of staff, residents and relatives, building meaningful relationships. Julie has trained as a recovery nurse and trained in the management of the Deteriorating patient level 3.
Julie previously assisted in training nurses and health professionals in various areas- ILS, AIMs, Venipuncture, Cannulation, and Safeguarding levels 1,11 and 111. Now is the right time to take on this challenge with Tanglewood and Richard House putting into practice what I have learnt and developing my skills whilst devoting herself to her team ensuring that our resident live their lives to the fullest through positive interaction and safe delivery of care.
Julie’s favourite quote remains “Who Jah bless no man Curse” My favourite scripture remains If God is for me who can be against me”. In Julie’s spare time, she enjoys the outside. Walking to clear her thoughts, a good book to keep her going and Julie loves singing and dancing.
"I have been working in the care sector as a Senior Care Assistant for the last 38 years, working in the UK and abroad. I came back to the UK in 2015 and have continued my career in care. I enjoy everything about working in care homes and wouldn't want to do anything else."
"This is my first job role in a care home. I joined Richard House in March 2022 and it's the best career move I have ever made. I love being part of the amazing Richard House team, Being able to spend time with our lovely residents makes it so much more special and I go home feeling rewarded knowing that I've made someone smile."
"I have worked in care home laundries since 2015 and joined Richard when it first opened in April 2022. I enjoy getting to know residents and meeting their families and take great pride in the home looking lovely and making sure everyone's laundry is done timely. I am very happy here at Richard House."
