Our mum was at Richard House Care Home for respite for one week. The home is well presented and Mum had an excellent experience with the hairdressers. She has seemed happy and content at Richard House. The staff have informed us about Mum's care. The manager is always available to answer questions and
plays an active roll in delivering care. She is very attentive on the night shift towards my mum which is appreciated.
Thank you to all for looking after Mum during her stay.

All staff are so friendly and welcoming. I visit a friend, I have had some dinners with her. Staff go above and beyond to help us. Must say, Richard House is a lovely place. The overall decor is lovely. I have been on a few visits and the bins in the bedroom and bathroom have been full to the brim and
little untidy, but then on other times very clean and tidy. That's the only negative thing I can say. Well done and keep up with the good work. And must say, the activities lady is so nice and very knowledgeable.
Reply from Alicia Bradon, Marketing and Communications Manager at Richard House Care HomeThank you so much for your heartwarming review! We appreciate your observation about the bins and we'll certainly take that into consideration to ensure consistent cleanliness in the future.
We're glad to hear our lifestyle lead has made a positive impression with her kindness and knowledge.

Aunty had an issue with not having a shower for a week's stay, she did ask maybe not at the correct time but no system to pick this up. I have been told that this has been addressed and is on the system for future residents on respite. I have said 'respite' is different and needs different methods to
see people getting basic needs. Fundamental hygiene issue.
The staff were extremely diligent with Aunty from a food issue. Twice picking up she can't eat. They were very good at following these through on both occasions.
She returned for a pamper day hosted by a particular member of staff and was made to feel most welcome.
Reply from Mark Newton, Regional Manager at Richard House Care HomeThank you for your review we appreciate your kind words surrounding the pamper session and the mealtime experience for your relative. As previously discussed with the home manager steps were put in place to meet the individual needs of residents that come to Richard House for respite and these will remain in place going forward to ensure all needs are met through their tailored care plan. It was lovely to see your relative return to Richard House following the conversations had and to see the positive and fun day she had.

Richard House Care Home is a beautifully decorated and modern care home. The rooms are tastefully decorated with lovely furnishings. The staff are very welcoming and you are made to feel welcome whatever time you visit. It's like being part of a big family.
The kettle is always on and you are free
to help yourself to a drink and and a biscuit.
The Activities co-ordinator is just fabulous along with her wonderful volunteer. They are amazing at keeping the residents entertained and involving them in many activities.
The hair salon is gorgeous along with the nail bar.
All rooms are ensuite with a spacious wet room.
The staff are so helpful and obliging. Nothing is too much trouble.
Food is all prepared and cooked on-site and is very well presented. There are many options to choose from and all diets are catered for.
I moved my Mum from a care home in Lincoln to relocate her to Grantham, and there is no comparison. Richard House is 5 star! Well done to all of the team.

My father made the difficult decision to place my mother in a care home earlier in the year and we were all amazed and relieved to find Richard House close to where they were living. We can't say how fantastic the home is. The environment is very well designed, calm, clean and organised and from the
beginning the staff were friendly, not just towards my mum, but to all family when they visited her. The manager and her team are exemplary in their care and all did everything they could to help Mum in the final months of her life. They were particularly sensitive in the last week of her life when family were coming and going and made sure that she was never alone. We are extremely grateful to all staff and can only recommend Richard House strongly.

My mum entered Richard House Care Home with complex needs, but from her very first day the whole team cared for not only her in an exemplary manner, but for our whole family. In her final weeks, the care provided went above and beyond what we had expected as she was shown not only professional care,
but given dignity, respect and love. I can wholeheartedly recommend Richard House and remain ever grateful to the team.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.530)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.530) out of 10 for Richard House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.530 for Richard House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (197 Excellents x 5) + (55 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 279 Ratings = 4.53
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Richard House Care Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
