My husband was in Heatherton House for a week's respite care, the first time he had been in anywhere. I went to look around and thought what a lovely place it was. It was easy to organise respite and the management was very thorough in their assessment process. I was able to take him to look around
and the staff talked to him to make him feel comfortable about coming in. On the day he went in they took time to settle him as well as reassuring me. During his stay, I spoke to family and friends who had visited him. They were all really impressed with everything to do with the home. When I fetched him home it was easy to tell that he had enjoyed his stay and the staff had everything ready for me. I will definitely use Heatherton House when I go away again.

At the beginning of this month, we moved my stepmother to Heatherton House as she was no longer able to live on her own.
She has settled in really well - the building and facilities are second to none and only exceed the great staff and care they provide.
A great decision for all involved.

Fantastic care home. The mother-in-law is so happy here. The food is fantastic, staff are so caring and spend lots of time with the residents. The place is always spotless and the facilities are excellent. Mum loves the activities every day and is always included.

I enjoy living here, especially the trips upstairs to the sweet shop. The staff are friendly and make a good hot chocolate. After a spectacular fall at home resulted in me going to hospital, I felt scared to be alone so I made the decision to come into a care home.

I have always found the staff to be so welcoming and kind when I visited my mum and as a previous reviewer said, always ready to offer a hot drink on arrival. Mum thoroughly enjoyed her time at Heatherton House and was soon made to feel ‘one of the family’. Unfortunately, she recently became very poorly
and had to be transferred to hospital. During that time the deputy care manager rang daily to ask how she was which was so thoughtful and really appreciated. Sadly Mum passed away in hospital but it’s a comfort to know that her time spent in the home was full of people who really cared, people who always went the ‘extra mile’ without being asked and always with a smile. I can only thank them all sincerely for their kindness to Mum and to our family, especially at this difficult time.

After much anticipation, both my Mum and Dad have moved into Heatherton House along with their faithful, fury, four-legged companions.
From the first time I visited to view the home, all the staff have been extremely welcoming and friendly. They ensured everything was just as Mum and Dad wanted prior
to them moving in and have continued to ensure it is like home-from-home for them. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and when any of the family visits, we are all made to feel very welcome!
Thank you all for ensuring that Mum and Dad can stay together. It is safe to say that they are in safe hands! I couldn’t ask for any more.

All the staff were so helpful they went above and beyond expectation. I cannot thank them enough for looking after my mum during respite. If the fees were lower I would like Mum to have stayed as a resident. The food was excellent, the rooms were clean. I loved everything. Nothing was too much trouble.

Mum had two weeks respite care in this brand new care home. The care and attention she received was first class, from her very thorough initial assessment to the daily care and attention she received, which included assistance with her mobility issues and excellent management of her diabetes. She enjoyed
the excellent facilities, entertainment programme and had her hair and feet done whilst she was there. Without exception, the team members were lovely and very professional. They made me very welcome on my visits to Mum, and I was able to enjoy complimentary lunch with her.

We went to Heatherton House to visit our friend and to celebrate her birthday. The staff were friendly, helpful and very welcoming throughout our visit and, more importantly, they clearly have an excellent relationship with our friend and went to great efforts to help her celebrate her birthday, which
was lovely. Yes, the surroundings are lovely, and the facilities amazing, but as we all know, home is not just the bricks and mortar its how it feels and Heatherton House feels like home.

There was a very warm welcome and reassuring introduction to all the staff. Mum quickly settled in and the care team took the time to get to know her. Her hobbies, interest and dietary requirements are all cared for. Mum enjoys the menu variety and the activities offered and the luxurious but comfortable
surroundings. The family are delighted with how well the move to Heatherton House went. We know mum is in good hands.

My sister in Law has been part of the Heatherton House community since June. From the moment she arrived, the care has been outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble. Every member of staff has taken the time to introduce themselves and get to know her. That makes settling in so much easier and reassuring
for her family. There are lots of activities to cater for every interest and family and friends are able to join in too. The food is delicious and my sister-in-law's dietary needs are never a problem. I can't recommend Heatherton House and the team enough. We are delighted with the friendliness and care.

This was Mum's first time in respite care. We visited a couple of times prior to the stay to familiarise her with her surroundings. The staff were welcoming and showed Mum the exciting facilities. She was able to choose her room which had a good view. The staff were really helpful, caring and always
cheerful. They looked after Mum really well and helped her make decisions about food. The grounds were relaxing and she enjoyed her stay and seeing other people.

Mum was a resident for 3 weeks for convalescence after a spell in hospital. She made great progress and a lot of this was due to the care and encouragement of the staff. Every aspect of Heatherton House was of a high standard and Mum loved it!

I went to look at Heatherton House on 8/6/2023, the whole experience on entering the building to meeting the staff members was fantastic. I have been looking for the ‘right’ place for my mum for several months and I have viewed many places that specialise in Dementia. I wanted somewhere that felt like
a family for her and it was very important that several aspects of care met our requirements. Our needs became more urgent with mum having a spell in hospital, having met with staff from Heatherton House my mum was welcomed into the Heatherton House family on 9/6/2023, today I settled her into her gorgeous room and I felt relieved and happy to be leaving her in the welcoming and capable hands of a lovely team. The facilities are second to none and having spent a few hours chatting to various members of staff today I am sure that my mum will have a truly fulfilling “next stage of her life”, I feel relieved to have found somewhere that I would also be happy to live in.

Kate Day has worked in health care for around 17 years, gaining experience in community care, nursing care, and residential care. She has worked her way up from care assistant to registered manager, achieving her NVQ Level 5 along the way. Kate takes pride in prioritising high-quality care and is committed to finding innovative ways to drive standards forward.


Outside of work, Kate is a devoted mother to three daughters. She loves spending time with her family, whether that’s relaxing together watching a film or heading out for activities. Her career in care has given her a deep appreciation for making meaningful memories with loved ones.

Kamala

Kamala Harrison

Job Title: Front of House Manager Joined: 2023

Kamala is a Front of House Manager at Heatherton House Care Home who started her career journey working in a busy hotel as a receptionist. From there, she quickly developed her skills and became the duty manager and later on the assistant reception manager of two hotels.


Kamala has now transitioned into the healthcare industry to work at Heatherton House Care Home in order to provide the greatest assistance and care to residents and visitors at Heatherton House. Kamala strives to always go above and beyond to ensure that every resident has a pleasurable experience during their stay in the home, taking into consideration their individual needs and wants.


In her free time, Kamala loves to spend time with her boyfriend and her family, going camping, and doing crafts. She also loves spending time with her nieces and nephews. All these activities give Kamala an opportunity to unwind and relax, allowing her to be her best self when taking care of the residents at Heatherton House Care Home.


Her passion and dedication have made her an invaluable member of the team, and she looks forward to providing the best care possible to ensure that each resident feels comfortable and secure.
