I wish I could give Heatherton House and all of the team more stars! Heatherton House went above and beyond when I needed urgent respite for my mum. Mum had a silent heart towards the end of October 2023 as well as being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s as such me and the hospital weren't happy releasing Mum back to her family home where her late husband, my dad passed away that very same year. After a morning call with the manager and team, they told me they would have a room ready for Mum later that day.
From then on we have never looked back. Mum is now a fully-fledged resident. Mum has gone from being reclusive and almost giving up to engaging in most activities the home offers as well as enjoying completing jigsaws and going to the in-house cinema. Mum gained a healthy weight and enjoys having her hair cut and styled every week. Heatherton House feels like a big family now and a second home for me and my brother.

Thank you.

For a 2 week convalescence after a fall and new hip, this was a perfect temporary home where family and friends were welcomed warmly by staff. As they had vacancies it was simple to be accepted. Staff so responsive to all my needs, allowing me to become more independent after a few days. Cups of tea and reassurance during the night was no trouble. My room and en suite wet room was very comfortable, with housekeeping and laundry efficient and friendly. Reassuring to have medical support when needed, I felt secure and cared for. Meals were mostly excellent, with however a long wait when seated in the dining room for table service. Plates often cold so food cooled quickly. Generous cooked breakfasts available with a choice of lunch and tea on a good 4-week rota. Supper served too. We could eat in our room or the dining room. Fresh fruit served often. I'm unconvinced by the accuracy of sweets suitable for diabetics, but staff took care to help diabetics choose wisely. A genuine Thank you.

I am very happy with how Dad has settled into Heatherton House. The staff are warm and caring and the atmosphere relaxed. The home is spotlessly clean. The food is great, Dad looks forward to the freshly cooked meals, and there is a lot of variety. Residents are well looked after health-wise. Staff are great with medications, and attention paid to conditions such as diabetes and skin health. Dad always has a glass of water kept topped up in his room. The home runs regular social events and activities. The Christmas programme was amazing.

My husband was in Heatherton House for a week's respite care, the first time he had been in anywhere. I went to look around and thought what a lovely place it was. It was easy to organise respite and the management was very thorough in their assessment process. I was able to take him to look around and the staff talked to him to make him feel comfortable about coming in. On the day he went in they took time to settle him as well as reassuring me. During his stay, I spoke to family and friends who had visited him. They were all really impressed with everything to do with the home. When I fetched him home it was easy to tell that he had enjoyed his stay and the staff had everything ready for me. I will definitely use Heatherton House when I go away again.

At the beginning of this month, we moved my stepmother to Heatherton House as she was no longer able to live on her own.
She has settled in really well - the building and facilities are second to none and only exceed the great staff and care they provide.

A great decision for all involved.

I enjoy living here, especially the trips upstairs to the sweet shop. The staff are friendly and make a good hot chocolate. After a spectacular fall at home resulted in me going to hospital, I felt scared to be alone so I made the decision to come into a care home.

I have always found the staff to be so welcoming and kind when I visited my mum and as a previous reviewer said, always ready to offer a hot drink on arrival. Mum thoroughly enjoyed her time at Heatherton House and was soon made to feel ‘one of the family’. Unfortunately, she recently became very poorly and had to be transferred to hospital. During that time the deputy care manager rang daily to ask how she was which was so thoughtful and really appreciated. Sadly Mum passed away in hospital but it’s a comfort to know that her time spent in the home was full of people who really cared, people who always went the ‘extra mile’ without being asked and always with a smile. I can only thank them all sincerely for their kindness to Mum and to our family, especially at this difficult time.

After much anticipation, both my Mum and Dad have moved into Heatherton House along with their faithful, fury, four-legged companions.
From the first time I visited to view the home, all the staff have been extremely welcoming and friendly. They ensured everything was just as Mum and Dad wanted prior to them moving in and have continued to ensure it is like home-from-home for them. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and when any of the family visits, we are all made to feel very welcome!

Thank you all for ensuring that Mum and Dad can stay together. It is safe to say that they are in safe hands! I couldn’t ask for any more.

All the staff were so helpful they went above and beyond expectation. I cannot thank them enough for looking after my mum during respite. If the fees were lower I would like Mum to have stayed as a resident. The food was excellent, the rooms were clean. I loved everything. Nothing was too much trouble.

Mum had two weeks respite care in this brand new care home. The care and attention she received was first class, from her very thorough initial assessment to the daily care and attention she received, which included assistance with her mobility issues and excellent management of her diabetes. She enjoyed the excellent facilities, entertainment programme and had her hair and feet done whilst she was there. Without exception, the team members were lovely and very professional. They made me very welcome on my visits to Mum, and I was able to enjoy complimentary lunch with her.

We went to Heatherton House to visit our friend and to celebrate her birthday. The staff were friendly, helpful and very welcoming throughout our visit and, more importantly, they clearly have an excellent relationship with our friend and went to great efforts to help her celebrate her birthday, which was lovely. Yes, the surroundings are lovely, and the facilities amazing, but as we all know, home is not just the bricks and mortar its how it feels and Heatherton House feels like home.

There was a very warm welcome and reassuring introduction to all the staff. Mum quickly settled in and the care team took the time to get to know her. Her hobbies, interest and dietary requirements are all cared for. Mum enjoys the menu variety and the activities offered and the luxurious but comfortable surroundings. The family are delighted with how well the move to Heatherton House went. We know mum is in good hands.

My sister in Law has been part of the Heatherton House community since June. From the moment she arrived, the care has been outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble. Every member of staff has taken the time to introduce themselves and get to know her. That makes settling in so much easier and reassuring for her family. There are lots of activities to cater for every interest and family and friends are able to join in too. The food is delicious and my sister-in-law's dietary needs are never a problem. I can't recommend Heatherton House and the team enough. We are delighted with the friendliness and care.

This was Mum's first time in respite care. We visited a couple of times prior to the stay to familiarise her with her surroundings. The staff were welcoming and showed Mum the exciting facilities. She was able to choose her room which had a good view. The staff were really helpful, caring and always cheerful. They looked after Mum really well and helped her make decisions about food. The grounds were relaxing and she enjoyed her stay and seeing other people.

I went to look at Heatherton House on 8/6/2023, the whole experience on entering the building to meeting the staff members was fantastic. I have been looking for the ‘right’ place for my mum for several months and I have viewed many places that specialise in Dementia. I wanted somewhere that felt like a family for her and it was very important that several aspects of care met our requirements. Our needs became more urgent with mum having a spell in hospital, having met with staff from Heatherton House my mum was welcomed into the Heatherton House family on 9/6/2023, today I settled her into her gorgeous room and I felt relieved and happy to be leaving her in the welcoming and capable hands of a lovely team. The facilities are second to none and having spent a few hours chatting to various members of staff today I am sure that my mum will have a truly fulfilling “next stage of her life”, I feel relieved to have found somewhere that I would also be happy to live in.
