Some complaints on here refer to protected meal breaks being an issue - we found this to be a god send! We knew my Grandmother was fed, cared for and uninterrupted in this time. The home was always clean, bright and full of activity and chatter.
Than you for taking the time to review our home at this difficult time . Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss . Your kind words are greatly appreciated .
My aunt and uncle have been residents at Shipley Manor since December 2024. How lucky we are to have found this wonderful care home. Every member of staff is exceptional, highly professional manager, deputy manager and administrator, wonderful, kind care staff dedicated domestic and catering staff who keep the place like a luxury hotel. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone, they treat each resident as if they are family members.
Thank you for choosing Shipley Manor for your Aunt & Uncles Care. We are delighted at how they have settled in . Your kind words are greatly appreciated and I will of course pass them on to the Shipley Manor family .
Mum and Dad can be challenging due to aging and Dementia but we have found all the staff really very good in the care and attention they give to our parents. It can vary a bit due to staffing changes but if ever there has been an issue it has been dealt with quickly and to good effect. Certain staff members are absolutely amazing with my parents and often share the pain of watching mum and dad decline alongside us. Some of the staff feel now like family members.
Just lately we have had stresses due to the pursuit of local authority funding and I can't praise the manager, enough. She has been utterly kind, compassionate and caring. Honestly don't know how I would be managing without her.
So, finally, thank you all so very much. I don't have the words to express my gratitude for all you do.
Thank you for taking the time to review our home again . It is pleasure ot care for your parents . Your kind words are greatly appreciated and I will of course pass them on to the Shipley Manor Family
When we visited, the staff were always courteous and extremely professional, from the manager to the care staff.
We have booked my mum in for some more respite when we go away in April.
I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to other families. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders knowing my mum was safe and secure, whilst we took our grandchildren on holiday.
Highly recommended.
Thank you for choosing Shipley Manor for your Mum's respite care. Your kind words are greatly appreciated and I will of course pass them on to the Shipley Manor team. We look forward to seeing you again in April.
Venue modern and purpose built. Rooms bright and airy. Some staff seemed caring and helpful, others disinterested and unhappy. Bathroom smelt of urine at every visit. Night catheter left on bathroom floor and disposable receptacle reused for emptying catheter bag. Conversations with family not accurately recorded and family not listened to or involved in supporting mums care. Mums room was at end of a corridor and she was on her own much of the time. Family felt discouraged to visit despite travelling long distances. Family asked to leave at mealtimes as "visitors were distracting and could cause choking issue" mum often left in her room taking meals on her own! Power of attorney for mum disregarded by care home as family not informed of important issue. Mum and family shocked when learning of the issue and the concern reported however family concerns were negated by the manager and no learning for them was identified.
Thank you for your feedback. We acknowledge the concerns raised regarding your mum's stay and conducted a thorough investigation, which included staff discussions, review of care records, and communication with relevant professionals. Our findings have been shared with the CQC and closed. A choice...
At times of ill health, the extra care given has been faultless.
The food is excellent and nutritious and the afternoon tea looks delicious.
There is an excellent activities programme daily provided by dedicated staff. They run a varied programme with outside involvement.
Of course over such a long period of time matters arise which have always been discussed and resolved if possible.
.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful feedback. We're truly grateful to hear that your sister has felt well cared for and that our team's efforts to provide attentive, individualised care have made a difference, especially during times of illness. It's wonderful to know that the food and...
My sister-in-law was admitted to Shipley Manor 1 year ago, after settling in (approx 1 month) she has had exemplary care the surroundings are pleasant and kept immaculate and the staff are conscientious, compassionate and caring. During this time my sister-in-law suffered a short illness, and the care given contributed greatly to her recovery. I have no hesitation in recommending this care home to anyone who needs care for an elderly relative.
Thank you for such kind words and for sharing your experience with Shipley Manor. We're delighted to hear that your sister-in-law has felt so well cared for and supported by our compassionate team. It's wonderful to know our care contributed to her recovery, and we're grateful for your recommendation. We'll continue to ensure her time here is as positive and comfortable as possible.
Don't be deceived by the hotel appearance reception area. My mum's room was dusty, and unclean and a few times when we visited. There were soiled pads in the bathroom and in her wardrobe, faeces in her bed, and many times no toilet paper available. Trying to find anyone to ask for this basic necessity was nearly impossible. On the ground floor, there was hardly any staff available. Even though she's diabetic her feet were never checked, they then told us they weren't allowed to touch them! The final straw was when we checked them and they were disgusting with a fungal infection which needed medical attention. Some of the staff were lovely, just not enough of them and a very defensive manager with a bad attitude.
Thank you for sharing your concerns about your experience at Shipley Manor Care Home. I'm sorry to hear about the issues faced, and understand how upsetting this must have been. We take all feedback seriously and addressed the matters you raised immediately regarding cleanliness and supplies....
On walking into Shipley Manor for a visit. We were amazed at how well it was organised. A hotel for the elderly who for whatever reason could not look after themselves at home. The staff were very welcoming and advised us of the correct path to go done with regards to our 93-year-old friend going to live there. Once settled in we visited him on a regular basis for six months until he sadly passed away. Every member of staff we came into contact with greeted us with a smile and any concerns or questions we asked about our dear friend were dealt with immediately. He was looked after with the high quality of care we wanted for him.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and kind review. We are truly touched by your words and grateful that you entrusted Shipley Manor to care for your dear friend. It means the world to us to know that you felt welcomed, and supported and that he received the high standard of care you wanted for...
With good reviews on their site, we'd no reason to query the care, too new to have a CQC rating. The staff were friendly but something seemed wrong. His toileting needs were not being met. Every day he waited hours to be taken, which led to complications and distress. He had an inadequate chair which caused a huge sore on his spine. There were delays getting urgent med and the attitude was that he/we were asking too much. One day his trousers were saturated in urine and his ulcerated legs, weeping and sore.
We confronted the manager who was defensive/angry. She blamed his cancer. We were told the problem was my Dad for being demanding. How can you not be demanding when you have lost the use of your legs?
We moved him to a wonderful nursing home and the care was next level. Everything was just done, with no fanfare. Only with hindsight, after seeing what proper care, did we have clarity on the scale of neglect we experienced at Shipley Manor.
Thank you for your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear about your experience. Providing the highest standard of care is our priority, and we take all concerns seriously. We regret that these issues weren't raised with us at the time, as we are committed to resolving concerns promptly. We understand...
Booking in for respite care to completing that care was everything it should have been. The care staff were helpful and helped me recover fast. I would recommend your care home to others and if necessary stay there again.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. We are delighted to hear that your stay for respite care met your expectations and that our team was able to assist you in your recovery. It's always our goal to provide compassionate and effective care, and...
We had no previous experience of care homes and had never been in a situation like this before. The building is nice, the rooms spacious and most of the staff friendly but that's where the positives end. His medical needs were not met, his room smelled strongly of urine, and he was left on the toilet for long periods of time. When we queried it we were told he was not of sound mind and it was his own fault. He had cancer but it had not affected his mind which was completely sound. This response was uncalled for, hostile and defensive. It masked a shocking catalogue of neglect.
We managed to move him to a different home when we realised the extent of his neglect. He passed away peacefully there surrounded by fully trained and caring nursing staff. I know care homes do have their problems but this was different. I would never recommend putting a loved one under the care of this establishment.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are deeply sorry to hear about the issues you faced and are truly saddened by your loss. We understand that you were navigating an incredibly difficult situation, and we apologise if our previous response came across as hostile or...
He spent his final year with you, and you treated him with the utmost respect and love the entire time. During his final weeks as he lay in bed, you were extremely attentive to his needs, you kept him comfortable and you made his final days dignified.
I can never thank you enough for your dedication and love.
Thank you for your kind words. It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of your lives and for our teams to be able to care for your Dad throughout his final year. Our teams are dedicated and committed to providing the highest standards of care to residents and their families at all life stages...
Had to move my mother-in-law to Shipley Manor after her old care home was closed. Could not believe the difference between the old and new places. Shipley Manor is absolutely superb. I cannot fault it, the place is spotless, the staff must have been hand-picked because they all know how to do the job to make residents happy and comfortable. Rooms brilliant, food is like a 5 star restaurant. Management sort any problem out straight away, not that I've personally had any. They should all get a medal for the work they do. Thank you, Shipley Manor.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review of Shipley Manor! We are thrilled to hear that your mother-in-law has had such a positive experience since moving in. Your kind words about our spotless facilities, dedicated staff, excellent rooms, and top-notch food mean the world to us. We strive to...
Looks are very deceiving. My mum is a dementia patient and for the last few months the care is atrocious, the day staff are really nice, my mum has had several falls and her feet are mouldy and she has bad fungus because they are not showering her, she has dementia so she needs the special gentle care but is not getting it, she's had a fall today but they called my sister in Greece and not a doctor, she has issues with low sodium, the staff need training, for £1400 a week the care is awful.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are concerned to hear your comments and regret that you felt the need to express your concerns publicly without addressing them with our management which we always encourage. We prioritise health and safety of our residents. Medical attention is always sought...
First time visiting a friend. Very impressed with the cleanliness. All staff are very friendly, lovely dining area and a private room for each resident. Really nice and very impressed overall, it was a lovely visit.
Thank you for your kind review. We're delighted to hear you were impressed with the cleanliness and friendliness of our staff at Shipley Manor. It's wonderful to know you had a pleasant visit and appreciated our facilities. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
When we got to the main door a lady let us in and showed us where we were to sign in she then took us up to see our friend who was in the lounge/tearoom with her new friends and sat around with a lovely man having a sing-song it was lovely. We went to her room and I must say it is really lovely her bathroom is perfect her room is decorated to a high standard and every member of staff was very polite and seemed to enjoy their work Can’t speak too highly of this home, the staff were very nice.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your positive experience at Shipley Manor Care Home! We're delighted to hear that you felt welcomed and impressed by the care and environment we provide. It's our pleasure to create a warm, engaging, and high-standard home for...
My parents have been residents at Shipley Manor since last April. Sadly my father passed away last year after several months in the home but Mum is still living there. The last few months of my father's life were happy ones, lots of laughter, care and much love from all the staff. My mum is very settled and we cannot fault her care. All the staff are very caring, thoughtful and supportive of all my mum's needs. We are reassured that she is very well looked after.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your family's experience at Shipley Manor. We are deeply sorry for the loss of your father and are grateful to have had the opportunity to make his last months as happy and comfortable as possible. It's heartwarming to hear that your mother feels...
I moved my grandma into this home last month and I couldn't have wished for a better experience. I got her room ready before her arrival and the staff were so accommodating and have continued to support not just my gran, but myself also. I really can't thank them enough. The home and rooms are kept clean to the highest standard, the rooms are cosy, comfortable and feel like they have a calming atmosphere. The biggest difference is in my grandma, she is happier and more stimulated with lots going on around her and has made new friends straight away. Moving her into Shipley Manor couldn't have gone any better.
Thank you so much for your heartwarming feedback! We are delighted to hear that your experience with Shipley Manor has exceeded your expectations. It brings us immense joy to know that your grandma is happy, stimulated, and has seamlessly adjusted to her new home. We appreciate your kind words...
My mother’s stay at Shipley Manor and the care given was faultless, and I could not recommend this care home more highly.
Dear Anthony, sorry for your loss. Many thanks for taking the time to review our home. It was a privilege to care for your Mum, and she is greatly missed by all. Your kind words are greatly appreciated, and I will, of course, pass them on to the Shipley Manor family.

Meet the Team (2)

I am a registered nurse and have worked within the healthcare sector for 35 years gaining valuable experience in all sectors including adult social care.
I have a strong record of achievements as a Director of Nursing and Governance in hospitals as well as in Care Home Commissioning. More recently I have successfully opened 4 new care homes building them into the thriving homes they are today.
I believe a significant part of my role is to develop the skills and knowledge of the care team to deliver the best possible care and bring the home Outstanding. Having an MBA and business experience ensures the home has a strong future, something that is extremely important in the current economic climate.
I have 2 sons and a grandson and I have a passion for 1950s vintage weekends. I also have a French bulldog called Eric who loves meeting the residents and visitors at the home

Monica has always been passionate about food, and as Head Chef, she uses that passion to bring happiness, comfort and dignity to residents every day. For her, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a smile at mealtimes or knowing a favourite dish has made someone's day. She feels proud to be part of the Shipley Manor family, where residents always come first, and considers it a privilege to contribute to such a warm and supportive home.
