My husband has been at Tallington on respite recently due to ill health. He wasn't happy with the prospect of staying in a care home but we were very surprised by Tallington and its luxury facilities. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. We are going to come back in to use the lovely
cafe in the future to see the friends that my husband has made whilst in the home. Thank you to Tallington, it feels more like a hotel break than a care home stay.

Mum has been here for respite for 2 weeks to give her husband a rest and to decorate the kitchen. The staff have been very supportive and understanding to the residents and their families. Mum has enjoyed her stay and the staff said they will miss her.
My father and I have been very pleased with the
home and their care. Thank you so much to all staff.

My mother was in the care of Tallington Lodge Care Home for more than four years. Not only was it her home, but all staff and residents were also her family. Everybody who works here are remarkably kind, caring and thoughtful. Facilities amazing!

The care home looks recently refurbished. Decor is light and tasteful. My father likes the food and how he is treated by all the staff. Staff seem to have the knowledge and patience required and are friendly, attentive and empathetic. My father has improved socially and with his dress standards since
he went to Tallingotn Lodge.

The whole of the family has been relieved by the ease with which Mum's respite stay transitioned into a permanent basis. Her needs and sometimes perplexing communications have been addressed. The staff skills are beyond expectations and the home provides respectful care with a lot of laughter.

I have nothing but praise for the Tallington Lodge Care home, my mother became a respite resident and then a permanent resident when we witnessed the difference it made to her. She had been living alone and "independently " but no quality of life. During her time at Tallington she has been encouraged
to take part in activities, her needs are considered continually and all the staff are very welcoming and interact well with the residents. There always seems to be plenty of staff about and regardless of the position they all interact with the residents and each other and with families visiting.

I am extremely pleased with how my concern of respite care for my mother was considered by the manager and her staff and of the care provided during her stay at Tallington Lodge. I have no hesitation in sorting respite care for her here again and certainly can only speak very positively about the place.

This care home dispels all your fears surrounding that hard decision of having a relative needing to go into care. The new facilities are more like a hotel but much more importantly, the staff genuinely care. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The residents are happy and the varied activities
are always being shown on their Facebook page so you can see your loved one having fun.

When it became apparent that my nan needed residential care, we looked around several nursing homes local to us and were very disappointed with the standards that we saw. We were told of a vacancy at Tallington Lodge by social services and while this is 45mins from us and at the time the facilities
were not as modern as those we had looked at nearer home, the feeling we got when looking around was one of care and concern for the residents. This has continued during the renovation work and its great to see my nan happy and content with where she is living.

I have been visiting several times when the residents have been dancing or playing bingo and had a great time joining in.

I found the staff very friendly and efficient. The customer relations manager, who helped us navigate the process was very welcoming and helpful. Not having been through the process before, we were a bit at sea but he answered all our questions and made us feel at ease. Dad's diet, being pureed, makes
it difficult to say much about the food. He seemed to like it though and the only thing I would say was that the portions did not look very much but that could be down to it being pureed.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.769) out of 10 for Tallington Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.769 for Tallington Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (359 Excellents x 5) + (74 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 446 Ratings = 4.769
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tallington Lodge Care Home is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
