We made the decision to move both our parents to The Fleet in September following years of home care for our father with Parkinson's and then our mother's diagnosis of Alzheimer's. It is most definitely the best thing we could have done for both of them and we are absolutely delighted with the care they are both now receiving. All the staff, without exception, have shown great empathy and care and go out of their way to show every resident kindness and empathy. There is always a buzz around the place, as if everyone is happy to be there - aesthetically it is not at all like a care home, more a boutique hotel, and residents are treated as paying guests and not as unfortunate inmates! Both parents are happy, relaxed, well fed, cared for and entertained. Dad is out of bed every day, having previously been left in his bed 24 hours a day at his previous care home - staff have the desire to care for residents on an individual basis and this is what makes this such a special place. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words, it is our pleasure to look after both Mum and Dad, they have settled in really well. I will pass your thanks on to the staff team.
When we arrived, we were greeted by a very welcoming receptionist who offered to make us each a drink to take to the room. We already know the way to my father-in-law's room. The lifts seem to be working properly but we prefer to use the stairs. When we reached Dad's room we found everything clean and tidy. He always tells us that the staff are kind and attentive. He told us that he enjoyed an excellent lunch.
Thank you for your kind words, it is our pleasure to look after Dad. I will pass this on to the staff team.
My uncle moved into The Fleet in September 2022 as he was starting to struggle to live alone with his dementia and short-term memory loss. The whole experience for both him and me has been made so easy by the wonderful staff, who are all kind, considerate and great fun. My uncle has gone from being alone and sad for much of the time, to joining in all the fun activities The Fleet provides. He especially enjoys the music events as he is a musician himself. The stimulation has helped immensely. Thank you.
Thank you for your lovely review, it is a pleasure to look after your uncle. He is a delightful character who joins in and appears to be always happy.
My mum was transferred from Beech Ward, Torquay and I have not seen her this happy in six years. Seeing Mum at Fleet Care Home is such a relief, the carers are so positive and caring. A big thank you to everyone at Fleet for the nurture and care you give my mum.
Thank you so much for the lovely review regarding our home and staff team. We will make sure that this is shared with our team at the home. Thanks again, Jo.
My mum arrived at The Fleet in early October after being discharged from The Beech unit. We had concerns after a previous care home experience, which was terrible but we couldn't be more grateful for The Fleet. From the moment Mum arrived, she has felt comfortable, settled and cared for. All the staff are so kind, accommodating and caring. The staff are upbeat and incredibly friendly, nothing is ever too much trouble. Mum loves the food and finds all the staff so kind and caring. We could not be more comforted to know Mum is here and finally got to see her happy and well and so content. We cannot recommend The Fleet and all the staff more highly. The place is like a hotel experience.
Thank you so much for the lovely feedback regarding the team, it is great to hear how our team are kind, accommodating and caring. We will ensure we share this feedback with our team at the home. Thanks, Jo.
Excellent in all areas. Everyone is kind, loving and caring.
Thank you for your review. I will pass this on to the team.
The Fleet care home gives excellent nursing and care. The staff are very kind and helpful.
Thank you for you kind words, I will ensure they are passed on to the staff team.
Dad came to The Fleet in October 2021, with severe mobility problems and several health issues, he was unable to look after himself at home. He struggled to settle in and loved to complain about the food. In time he became fond of his carers and respected their knowledge and experience. From a visitor's point of view, staff at The Fleet were intelligent and accommodating when making decisions about Covid visits, they made it easy for friends and family to visit when we were able. We made use of the Cove bistro at times when we had too many visitors to fit in Dad's room. In February, Dad moved upstairs to the nursing floor where he, and we, were looked after beautifully day and night until he died this May. I am so grateful to all the staff at The Fleet for their kindness and care.
Thank you for your kind words and it was our absolute pleasure to look after your father, he was a wonderful man. I will pass on your words to the team and thank you again for your lovely comments.
Mum came to The Fleet Care Home initially for a 1 month period of respite nursing care after spending a period of time in hospital, being treated for continuing UTI which was contributing to her Alzheimer's Dementia accelerating. The staff at The Fleet are pretty amazing - everyone - from the reception and administrative offices to the nursing staff, care assistants, housekeeping and entertainments team show the utmost respect, understanding, kindness and unwavering patience to the residents and patients in their care. It's thanks to the dedicated nursing care at The Fleet, that Mum has retained her dignity and individuality throughout the various stages of her illnesses and considers many of the staff who care for her every day, as 'her friends' and it is very difficult to find the appropriate words to thank you all for the support you have and continue to give Mum and the family. Mum now receives palliative care and is comfortable, warm and content.
Thank you so much for your amazing review. It means a lot to the team, I will pass this on to the team.
My husband has been at the Fleet Care Home since early July 2021. He is there for nursing care and we, as a family, have nothing but praise for the care and attention he is given. The home is a very friendly place and we are always made to feel welcome, when visiting. The nurses and care staff are so conscious of the needs of their patients, whilst also giving support to relatives. Thank you for making a difficult time easier.
Thank you for your kind words. I will pass this on to the team. Our care and support will always extend to the families of our residents.
We have visited this care home regularly during the past few months. We have found everyone to be extremely helpful and friendly. The residents are being cared for really well. My husband and I have been treated well and made to feel at home. There is always an offer made of tea or coffee on arrival. We can't comment on value for money as we don't know the fees.
Thank you for your kind words and I will pass them on to our team. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit.
The staff are genuinely caring and nothing is too much trouble. A happy, clean and welcoming environment. We are made to feel valued and part of the family. A lovely home for our Dad.
Thank you for your review. I will pass your comments on to the team. We look forward to your next visit.
We have found the home, and in particular the staff, to be a very caring and supportive environment. Always prepared and willing to make sure the person in their care is safe, secure and happy in their new home.
Despite having many issues and restrictions surrounding Covid, The Fleet Care Home and staff have always tried their very best to accommodate myself and family visiting my grandmother. They have always been incredibly welcoming, friendly and have always gone above and beyond to allow myself access. The new manager has definitely made noticeable improvements since her arrival and I can only assume things will get better as Covid restrictions/staff shortages improve.
Thank you for your feedback and the support you always give with the care of your Grandmother.
I can't praise Fleet Care Home enough. They looked after my brother until his time of death and were wonderful. They made sure he was comfortable and in no pain. All the staff were brilliant and also to me as well. Nothing was too much trouble. I thank you so much again. Really wonderful and caring home.
Thank you, Valerie, for your kind words, it is uplifting for the team to read such lovely feedback.
In my personal experience, The Fleet is an excellent setting. The staff are extremely professional, caring, friendly, and diligent. The environment is excellent. It feels homely, and is really 'posh'! My Dad lives there.
My husband was admitted to Fleet Care Home from hospital as he needed 24-hour care. His room was very nice, comfortable and nicely furnished with its own ensuite. He was made very welcome and the staff were kind and attentive. Sadly due to the current situation family were unable to visit but whenever we rang the staff always had time for us and we were able to speak to my husband on the phone with the help of the staff. Sadly my husband died and the staff were so kind and compassionate at a very sad time. It was planned that my husband would stay permanently, but this was not to be. The Fleet is a care home where one can be happy and confident that a loved one will be well cared for.

My name is Gayle, and I joined The Fleet as a carer after moving to the area. I really enjoy looking after our residents and feel proud to make a difference every day, particularly in the Ramsay community, where I’ve built strong, trusting relationships with both residents and colleagues.

My name is Holly, and I am one of the Care Assistants here at The Fleet. After completing my degree in counselling, I realised I wanted to be more hands-on in supporting people. I have a real passion for resident care and love getting to know each person, helping them stay as independent as possible and live fulfilled, meaningful lives while always respecting their choices, dignity and individuality.

John started work at the Fleet in 2021 as the Maintenance Manager, he comes with a wealth of experience in this field.

Pammy is one of our Housekeeping Assistants at our home, and she is a massive part of making sure our home remains a tidy and safe environment. Pammy is known for taking time to speak to our residents and forming relationships with people new to our home.

Nick along with Sue runs the Laundry here at The Fleet Care Home in Dartmouth. Nick’s job is to ensure that not only is there plenty of bed and table linen and towels on all of the floors but also that all of the residents have their personal clothes washed and returned to them. It’s an important job and both Nick and Sue feel rather proud of their “part of the ship”, having it run really smoothly. When Nick isn’t collecting and distributing, he likes to try and find the time to stop and chat with our residents.
