My adoptive dad had been in The Fleet since September 2023 and I have been nothing but impressed by the standard of care of him and the friendly, helpful attitude of the staff. He could not have been in a better place for his end-of-life care. An intelligent active man even at 92 he was happily engaged
with artwork, walks out and singing amongst other activities during his stay. The staff enabled him to visit his sister-in-law who lives locally, helped with all his phone calls and treated him gently with dignity, respect and kindness. Staff wise there is such a good vibe from the place. Highly recommend this place with heartfelt thanks.
Reply from Damon Drummond, Manager at The Fleet Care HomeThank you for your wonderful review, I will pass this on to the staff team. I am pleased that we have been able to support your adoptive dad with respect and kindness and engaged him in our activities program. Thank you again

Throughout my sister's stay, the friendship and empathy shown from the first to her last days at The Fleet were beyond measure. The whole staff will always be remembered for their strength and support. In the very difficult days, comfort and reassurance were always there with the dedicated staff. I
could not have chosen a better place for her to travel through her dementia journey. With heartfelt thanks.

My sister was moved to The Fleet from another residential care home. She has been settled into a lovely room and all her needs taken care of. They even arranged for her to phone me for a chat which she has never done before in a care home.
From the minute I arrived to visit her I was greeted by friendly
and helpful staff and had everything explained to me and a tour of the home. Lovely place for my sister to settle in.

The staff are the Fleet are incredible. They look after the residents so well and are always finding them things to do so they are not getting bored! I love to follow on social media to see what they have been doing and there is usually so much they’ve been up to! I wish I lived nearer because I’d get
more involved! What a great place to be! And it doesn’t smell of wee - a bonus!

My mother has been in the Fleet since May and she settled in very quickly due to the immensely warm welcome extended to her and all our family. She has a lovely room, enjoys freshly prepared meals and appreciates having her hair done regularly in the hair salon. There is always a smile to greet you
when visiting the Fleet, and The Cove is a lovely place to sit and have a cup of tea with super views and easy access to the garden. Mum is encouraged to join in the many activities on offer, but she is also made to feel comfortable if she prefers an afternoon reading in her room. I am confident that mum is happy, safe and well cared for in her ‘new home’.
Reply from Jo Needs, Regional Director at The Fleet Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely feedback Kate, we are thrilled to hear that your mother has settled in very quickly. I am so grateful to all the staff at The Fleet Care Home because they really are wonderful. They go out of their way to help my mother-in-law, who can be quite difficult at times, and show concern, patience, and respect in abundance. The social activities are most weeks and residents enjoy them all,
there's a hairdresser which helps residents feel pampered. The meals are good and the tea trolley is very frequent. Cannot fault The Fleet Care Home at all.

My relative is a lot happier and healthier than she was before moving into the home. She is encouraged to join in activities as much or as little as she wishes. She loves the enclosed garden and the performances put on out there. The home is well-kept and doesn't smell. The carers and management team
have always been helpful, despite being very busy.

My wife came to The Fleet Care Home in December, she suffers from schizophrenia and her condition can be very challenging. I have been extremely impressed by the care she gets - every single member of staff is 100% committed to the residents' welfare and well-being, and there is a cheerful "can-do"
attitude everywhere. The contact between the staff and myself has been wonderful with so much trouble taken to fully inform and involve me in her care. The events and activities are simply excellent with so many different things happening including visiting musicians which my wife particularly enjoys. There are spacious lounges, a small library, and an attractive dining room all of which overlook the lovely garden. Nowhere ever feels crowded, the general atmosphere is more like a good hotel than a care home. I count ourselves very lucky to have found The Fleet - it actually achieves what many care homes probably aim to do but fail.

It was with heavy hearts that we agreed for my father to go into nursing care at Fleet Care Home. He is dying of terminal cancer, but is amazingly bright and cheerful. The staff are so empathetic to his plight and ours. They make him smile and nothing is too much trouble, while at the same time being
professional, which gives us confidence in their care. To visit Dad there is a pleasure, even in such emotionally charged times. The staff also want to know how we are managing too. My dear mum often on arrival is given a coffee and fresh biscuit, she also loves to be able to stay and have a meal with him. The building is very clean, modern and airy, we feel very fortunate that he is there.

Not a typical ‘care home’, (thank goodness), more like a hotel. From reception, where you are always greeted with a smile, to The Cove, where you can sit and have a drink and a chat and on to the dining room and out to the lovely gardens. My partner’s room is large and sunny and he has everything he
needs. He is treated well, is clean and tidy and gets on well with staff. Some staff in particular are very capable, helping him with rehabilitation and encouraging him to do as much as possible for himself. In fact, I would go as far as to say that they want him to recover as much as I do! I am always impressed with how many activities they come up with, from gardening to making seasonal items to bringing entertainers in from outside. They also encourage residents to participate in chair aerobics and chair yoga. Plus animals come to visit and they currently have ducklings, which have actually hatched on-site. I am so, so impressed.
Maybe the meals could be improved though.

My nan has been fiercely independent for many years and found it very difficult living at home and trying to manage. She is a proud woman, and giving up her independence and moving to a care home has been quite an adjustment for her. However, the staff at Fleet Care Home have been incredibly sweet,
patient and helpful in getting her settled. They have found ways to make her laugh, they get her involved in activities, and she even had a bunny hopping on her bed which she loved. They are always on hand and happy to answer our questions, and they notice changes in her health and have adapted to her changing medical requirements very well. They have enabled her to live independently and encouraged her to maintain her strength, movement and abilities whilst supporting her and keeping her safe and well.
I can’t thank the staff enough for what they do for her. As relatives, we are always offered coffee and always greeted at reception with the friendliest welcome. Thank you!

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.796)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.796) out of 10 for The Fleet Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 41 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.796 for The Fleet Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (404 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 481 Ratings = 4.796
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Fleet Care Home is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 79 registered maximum number of service users is 15.8, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
