On visiting the home at Fleet on several occasions, the staff are all very pleasant. Everywhere is very clean and tidy. Plenty of entertainment is put on for the residents and trips out for those who are able.
Thank you for the review. It is always great to hear the experiences of those who visit our fantastic home. I will share your feedback with the wider team. Thank you again for taking the time to provide this review.
Needing to place my mum in a nursing home was not something I had prepared for. Initial conversations with admin staff and management could not have been more reassuring and friendly. My mum's complicated needs were understood fully, staff were interested in her as a person. The activities team were terrific, encouraging and sensitive. The integral The Cove Bistro, where hot and cold drinks and plenty of homemade treats were always available to us all, was a fabulous way of making each visit an outing, such a great idea! What I really loved about spending time with my mum at The Fleet was the warmth and friendship shown by the staff towards me. There is a genuine upbeat atmosphere in the home, created by happy staff who so obviously feel great fondness for the residents in their care; how great is it that this extended to admin, management, maintenance, housekeeping and kitchen staff? All taking trouble to get to know my mum and spend time with her. Thank you Team Fleet!
Thank you for your review and for taking the time to share your experiences. It is really great to hear that you have these interactions with everyone at The Fleet. We will share your feedback with the whole team. Thank you again.
I found the care home to be spotless and friendly. I met some of the staff who were all so lovely and caring and nothing is too much trouble. Offered a drink as soon as I arrived. My friend's mum who I have known since I was 7 (I am now 68) is happy there. They have lots of activities and entertainment and even virtual pets and soon children. Wonderful place.
Many thanks for taking the time to share your review. We are glad that you enjoyed your experience of our home, our staff and the activities. We will ensure that your lovely feedback is shared with the wider team.
Looked after Mum very well and treated her with dignity and care in difficult times.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your experiences. I am glad to hear that your mum was supported with dignity and care at all times. I shall share your review with the care team. Thank you again for your review.
Wonderful friendly and caring staff that go above and beyond to make their residents' time so enjoyable and are also fantastic with family members when visiting. Also in a beautiful setting with many trips on offer for residents using all the beautiful places near and around Dartmouth.
Many thanks for the wonderful review and for taking the time to complete. We pride ourselves on going above and beyond and so pleased that this has been your experience.
Very pleased with the facilities, care and staff at The Fleet Care Home. Excellent entertainment for the residents and family. Everything is spacious and bright with an added bistro cafe and family room and a large garden area.
Many thanks for the recent review, we are glad that you are pleased with the facilities, care and staff at the home. We will ensure that this lovely feedback is shared with the team. Thanks again for taking the time to complete a review.
We moved my father from The Fleet in January 2024, the council reimbursed us for four months' worth of care home fees in March, some £11,000, but paid the money to Fleet to pay us back and now they are fobbing us off, promising to call us but never calling us back. We are at our wits end.
Hi Catherine, My Name is Marc, and I am the new manager at The Fleet Care home. I am sorry to hear of the challenges you have faced since your father left The Fleet and how this has affected your overall experience. I believe the matter has now been resolved by the central billing team. However, I...
Warm and friednly atmosphere, lots of activities, once rooms, bright and clean, friendly staff, lovely garden, easily accessible.
Fantastic, life-enhancing care at The Fleet. Very clean and light residence with spacious, comfortable rooms for residents and visitors. The cafe area downstairs is perfect for being together. Regular and multiple social events each week that are relevant and enjoyable for all residents. One is always given a warm and friendly greeting at reception and beyond by all staff and everyone uses first names showing the care and love they have for all residents. Plenty of tea and cakes are always available and both inside and in the garden effort is made to make the place look loved and available to use. We love the social media posts that keep us informed and involved in weekly events when we are not able to be present. Overall The Fleet manages a first-class establishment for all stakeholders. Many thanks and our appreciation.
Thank you so much for the lovely review, we are thrilled to hear that your experience has been that the team provide life-enhancing care. Thanks again for the kind words.
They do coffee mornings to raise vital funds and welcome the community, which is lovely for the residents to see new people to chat with.
Thank you for the lovely review; we are very proud of our team and so pleased that you feel they are amazing.
Beautiful setting, and incredible staff who always go the extra mile. My friend struggled with the realisation she could no longer stay in her own home, but the staff went above and beyond to make her welcome. Love to visit; it feels like a hotel more than a care home.
Thank you for your lovely review. We always want to make sure all of our residents are made to feel welcome and that this is their home. Thank you again
I cannot thank the staff of Fleet Care home for the brilliant care for my mother, at her most vulnerable time in her life. When she felt her most unconfident and fearful, the team helped rebuild her self-esteem, mobility and confidence about returning home. Her stay has been great! She introduced herself to other service users in the most creative way, by posing as a postie, getting involved with activities and even managing to celebrate Valentine's Day, with a lovely meal with my stepfather in the restaurant. Before she came to Fleet, her anxieties were high about being in care whilst she recovered, but the warm and welcoming greetings she received really settled those nerves. Thank you for making my mother feel at home there. She now feels confident enough to return home following the great care she's received, which is, in my mind, priceless.
Thank you for your lovely review. having your mother here was a pleasure for us. I am so pleased her confidence has grown and she can return home. Thank you again.
An amazing home! A brilliant team! The rooms are clean and fresh and spacious, the decor can be accommodated to the individual to make it feel like home. Nothing is too much trouble at The Fleet, questions are answered promptly by any member of the team. On occasions I have eaten at The Fleet and found the food to be nutritious and tasty, the entertainment is outstanding, residents are encouraged to join in even if some are too poorly to do so, and the team will have 1-1 with the residents, alpaca’s this week were paraded around to the amusement of the workforce but the residents were full of smiles. The home is a beautiful place and guarantees excellent care and commitment to every single person, staff, residents and their loved ones are all cared for. Come visit, stay for a cuppa and enjoy the home, you won’t be disappointed. Brilliant!
What a wonderful review! Thank you! We certainly try to make the Fleet the best place it can be for the residents and our staff.
My adoptive dad had been in The Fleet since September 2023 and I have been nothing but impressed by the standard of care of him and the friendly, helpful attitude of the staff. He could not have been in a better place for his end-of-life care. An intelligent active man even at 92 he was happily engaged with artwork, walks out and singing amongst other activities during his stay. The staff enabled him to visit his sister-in-law who lives locally, helped with all his phone calls and treated him gently with dignity, respect and kindness. Staff wise there is such a good vibe from the place. Highly recommend this place with heartfelt thanks.
Thank you for your wonderful review, I will pass this on to the staff team. I am pleased that we have been able to support your adoptive dad with respect and kindness and engaged him in our activities program. Thank you again
Throughout my sister's stay, the friendship and empathy shown from the first to her last days at The Fleet were beyond measure. The whole staff will always be remembered for their strength and support. In the very difficult days, comfort and reassurance were always there with the dedicated staff. I could not have chosen a better place for her to travel through her dementia journey. With heartfelt thanks.
Thank you, Jennifer, for your lovely review and comments; it was our absolute pleasure to care and look after your sister. I will share this with the staff team and thank you again.
From the minute I arrived to visit her I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff and had everything explained to me and a tour of the home. Lovely place for my sister to settle in.
The staff are the Fleet are incredible. They look after the residents so well and are always finding them things to do so they are not getting bored! I love to follow on social media to see what they have been doing and there is usually so much they’ve been up to! I wish I lived nearer because I’d get more involved! What a great place to be! And it doesn’t smell of wee - a bonus!
Thank you for your lovely review, we do try our very best to find interesting things for our residents to do. I am really pleased that our social media page keeps you updated and we look forward to seeing you soon.
We are very impressed with the standard of care, imaginative activities and kindness shown at Fleet. Our mothers health and mobility has improved and staff work hard to make it a lovely place to visit
Thank you Tamsin for your kind review, we do try at the Fleet to ensure all residents receive a high standard of care and have the opportunity to partake in a variety of activities. I will pass your lovely feedback on to the team.
At what was a very difficult time for the family, we all felt that every member of staff we met could not have been more caring and supportive. Dad got the best care possible in what turned out to be his last few weeks with us.
Thanks for the feedback we always want to ensure that we are caring and support all our residents. We will ensure that we share this feedback with the team. Take care
My mother has been in the Fleet since May and she settled in very quickly due to the immensely warm welcome extended to her and all our family. She has a lovely room, enjoys freshly prepared meals and appreciates having her hair done regularly in the hair salon. There is always a smile to greet you when visiting the Fleet, and The Cove is a lovely place to sit and have a cup of tea with super views and easy access to the garden. Mum is encouraged to join in the many activities on offer, but she is also made to feel comfortable if she prefers an afternoon reading in her room. I am confident that mum is happy, safe and well cared for in her ‘new home’.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback Kate, we are thrilled to hear that your mother has settled in very quickly. Our staff pride themselves on first impressions and always want to make sure you are warmly welcomed and with a smile. Take care

My name is Gayle, and I joined The Fleet as a carer after moving to the area. I really enjoy looking after our residents and feel proud to make a difference every day, particularly in the Ramsay community, where I’ve built strong, trusting relationships with both residents and colleagues.

My name is Holly, and I am one of the Care Assistants here at The Fleet. After completing my degree in counselling, I realised I wanted to be more hands-on in supporting people. I have a real passion for resident care and love getting to know each person, helping them stay as independent as possible and live fulfilled, meaningful lives while always respecting their choices, dignity and individuality.

John started work at the Fleet in 2021 as the Maintenance Manager, he comes with a wealth of experience in this field.

Nick along with Sue runs the Laundry here at The Fleet Care Home in Dartmouth. Nick’s job is to ensure that not only is there plenty of bed and table linen and towels on all of the floors but also that all of the residents have their personal clothes washed and returned to them. It’s an important job and both Nick and Sue feel rather proud of their “part of the ship”, having it run really smoothly. When Nick isn’t collecting and distributing, he likes to try and find the time to stop and chat with our residents.
