The Lakes Care Centre

My dad came into The Lakes Care Centre in June for respite and then stayed as a permanent resident. He has really come out of himself since he has been here. It's lovely to see the staff (all) are lovely with him, very caring and always happy. I know that he is in the best place.

They came for 4 weeks of respite care, with a view to them becoming permanent residents, which they are now. They are both very settled and happy. My mum desperately needed company and to socialise with others. She has made many friends and joins in with all of the social activities. She now calls The Lakes her home and has told me how very happy she is and how all of the staff are wonderful. My dad is also settling, he just takes a bit longer to adjust. The staff are all wonderful, kind and caring. I feel very at home when I go to visit. The manager helped me every step of the way and gave great advice and support. She continues to support us and is always available if we need her. So too are all the office staff, so helpful, and friendly. The Lakes is a very cosy, warm and calm place and I love the small individual lounges and dining areas. I have peace of mind that my parents are happy, safe and very well cared for.

We have been coming for several weeks. All the staff have been very kind and helpful, always willing to help you. Everywhere is clean and tidy.

I am very pleased with the care and the friendly staff and managers, all the people are always happy and pleased to see you and fun to chat with. Overall excellent.

My father settled in remarkably quickly, which I think is due to the skills of the happy team who work at The Lakes Care Centre. He is content and well cared for and particularly enjoys sitting in the grounds on a hot sunny day just enjoying the warmth, colour and peace of the garden area. When my father lost his appetite, the chef ordered the foods that I thought he was most likely to eat. When he was ill, a variety of approaches were taken and he made a good recovery despite his advanced years. The clean laundry magically appears in his room and it is very rare for anything to be misplaced. It is reassuring to know that my father is at The Lakes, where I have every confidence that his opportunities will be maximised and problems minimised. For me, the home is a rare example of something good for my father despite his diagnosis.

Our Mum lived at The Lakes Care Centre for almost 5 years and she was always treated with love and respect. The staff and volunteers really are such lovely special people. When she first moved there, we were worried that she would want to "go home" but the Lakes became her home very quickly, and she was so happy there. She never had a bad word to say about the care, the staff, the food or the home itself. My brother and I were always treated with love and respect and care. The home seems to have a great relationship with the local GP surgery (and other services) and Mum received the best of care. The Lakes is a wonderful place.

My mum has been at The Lakes Care Centre for 4 months now and it’s lovely to see how happy she is there. She enjoys the activities on offer, loves the food (I hear about every meal in detail) and finds all the staff so friendly and caring. When I visit, there’s always a lovely vibe and the staff are cheerful and really welcoming. It’s such a relief to know my Mum is somewhere that she’s not only safe and cared for, but she’s enjoying her life again. I couldn’t ask for more.

We are very happy with the care and support Mum receives. We have been very impressed with the extra personal care provided by certain staff members. Knowing Mum is safe and looked after provides comfort for my sister and I. Thank you.

The Lakes is a lovely comfortable environment with gardens for all the residents to enjoy. The atmosphere is homely and welcoming during the seven months mum has been a resident. We are confident that she is safe and very well cared for by the kind, cheerful and hardworking staff.

I am so grateful to be attending the Lakes care home. I am very well looked after by the caring staff. My room is comfortable, the food is very good and I have no worries. The only request would be to have more activities. I can't wait until my next stay at The Lakes. Thank you very much.

I have been very pleased with the support my wife has received and the help given by the carers.

The aim of my stay at The Lakes was to regain my confidence and independence after a traumatic stay in hospital. I was treated with respect as to my abilities. Being able to make my own tea or coffee was much appreciated as was having breakfast in bed, a luxury when you live alone. At the end of my stay, I had been able to get the rest I needed and was able to return home.

The staff at the Lakes care home are all so friendly, we are always greeted with a smile when we visit Dad. The care provided is excellent, it has been good for Dad to be looked after in a nice community environment. The food and drinks are very good, always a cup of tea when he needs one, lots of treats which he really likes. The facility is a lovely place, with lots of space for him to walk around. Dad is very happy here after being here 6 months, he is now settled and enjoying his time in care. Thanks to all the staff.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at The Lakes Care Centre for several years, from shortly after it opened. The outstanding modern design helps to create a light and airy feel. The staff are genuinely caring. The end result is that we are confident that we have made the right choice in The Lakes Care Centre and we are very appreciative of all the kindness that the staff show the residents.

The Trust have very recently put in place a root and branch review of the Lakes operation, driven in part by the concerns of residents' families. As a result, a new manager has been appointed and it is anticipated that this will vastly improve the morale of staff and thus the happiness of residents. It needs saying the staff are caring, diligent, and kind. The home is modern and clean, the food is good. As things open up post covid under new leadership I have great hopes for the future of The Lakes. Our mum is remarkably happy given such trying times.

Poorly led, poorly managed, and a shocking, extensive, catalogue of acknowledged failures in The Lakes' duty of care. We had no choice but to remove our Mum after just three weeks of what we expected would be a permanent residency. We raised numerous, valid concerns during this period as we tried desperately to avoid this action, but the many promised improvements and remedial actions by The Lakes management were never forthcoming. An official complaint has been raised with Head Office and a full investigation at the highest level has been carried out, bearing out our concerns. We sincerely hope the remedial actions promised by Head Office will have a beneficial and long-lasting effect and that other families will be spared the upset, stress, and anxiety we have been caused. Moving a loved one into a care home is never an easy decision, nor one taken lightly. Having to move your loved one out again is even harder and is still having repercussions today.

My elderly father-in-law very much enjoyed his respite stay at the Lakes. The staff were very attentive and kind. He praised the food very highly too. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lovely care centre.

I have really enjoyed my time at The Lakes. Everyone has been very helpful, and I think that it is an excellent service. If in the future that I need extra support, I would be very happy to return.

We were in a very difficult position of suddenly having to move my mother from an unsuitable care home. The staff at The Lakes did everything possible to turn a very distressing situation into a positive experience. Our mother has been at The Lakes for 2-months, and I am so relieved. Her needs are fully understood and catered for. Her physical and mental health needs are well supported, and staff are always happy to answer any questions we have. She is encouraged to have as full a life as possible. The staff are lovely, not only to Mum but to myself and my sister too! Covid has made the separation hard, but regular phone calls and emails from staff, combined with photos, Sykpe calls and managed visits, mean we have been reassured about Mum's care and her life within the home. Covid has also meant I have had very few visits inside, but I look forward to becoming part of The Lakes and what appears to be a lovely community.
