Since my husband went into The Lakes in March, so far we have experienced exceptional care for him, plus help and assistance to myself in coming to terms with our change in circumstances.
The staff/carers show considerable care and dedication and treat him with extreme dignity.
He has a varied diet,
all well prepared and freshly cooked. Relatives are able to help themselves to teas/coffee.
The home is very pleasant, the rooms are well laid out with all facilities on hand.

We have been very impressed with the whole experience from when we first visited over a month ago when my mother moved into the centre. She has very much enjoyed her stay so far and is looking forward to extending her stay from respite care to full-time resident.

My grandmother has been really happy in this care home. It was her first experience of being in a care centre which she was a little apprehensive about. However, all the staff were really welcoming and reassuring which has really made her time in the centre an enjoyable one.

The house is an attractive new building - the interior is well designed with very wide, homely passages and light colourful sitting rooms, as well as comfortable bedrooms for each resident - these are ensuite and also with all necessary furnishings. The carers/nurses could not be more welcoming to visitors
and attentive to the residents. The chef provides excellent home cooked meals and snacks.


It was hard to take my husband from home, but due to his age/dementia/mobility problems and lack of home carers, there was no option. However, it has proved a happy place with plenty of laughter - our children have visited and think it's amazing.

This is a new care home which opened early March '17. My wife was one of the first residents. The home has a welcoming atmosphere. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The design allows the residents to move about freely without being crowded. Corridors are wide, lounges comfortable. Individual
rooms have en suite facilities with plenty of storage. The chef presents a varied and enjoyable menu. Snacks and drinks always available.

Fiona

Fiona Boxall

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager Joined: 2024

Fiona has been Deputy Manager at The Lakes Care Centre since February 2024. Prior to this, Fiona spent time nearly 5 years working as a Bursar at another OSJCT care home, Millbrook Lodge, in Brockworth.


“No two days are ever the same at The Lakes. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to interact with our wonderful residents and their families” Fiona said.


When asked what her favourite memory was from her time at The Lakes, Fiona reflected on one of these many opportunities she had to interact with a resident and their loved one.


“The Lakes were taking part in a baking competition, and I was lucky enough to transport one of our keen baking residents and his family to the grand finale in Bath. This resident was from a farming background, and it was an absolute pleasure to see the look on his face as we drove around the countryside and told tales of his farming days.”


In her spare time away from The Lakes, Fiona enjoys travelling, trips to the movies and theatre, as well as spending as much time with her loving family as possible.

Nikkie

Nikkie Millar

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2018

Nikkie joined the Trust in 2018 at Jubilee Lodge as Head of Dementia Care before progressing to Head of Care and then Home Manager at Orchard House. After a short time away, she returned to the Trust in April 2024 as Home Manager at The Lakes.


She holds a range of qualifications, including NVQ Level 5, Level 3 Dementia Care and Level 3 Teaching Education, and is an experienced Moving and Handling Instructor of over 20 years. Nikkie is passionate about empowering colleagues, supporting professional growth, and ensuring the highest standards of care for residents.


Outside of work, Nikkie enjoys travelling to hot and sunny destinations, trying extreme sports and spending time with her family.

Lloyd

Lloyd King

Job Title: Bursar Joined: 2021

Lloyd joined the Trust in 2021. Originally from Australia, he moved to England in 2017 and managed pubs until the COVID pandemic, when he began working in care. He now brings together his background in hospitality and his knowledge of the care sector to his role as Bursar, where he enjoys supporting colleagues and welcoming the many people who visit The Lakes.


Outside of work, Lloyd enjoys spending time with his family and walking his 16-year-old Pug, Sasha.

Paul

Paul Lewis

Job Title: Activity Coordinator Joined: 2021

Paul joined the Trust in August 2021 as Activity Coordinator. Before this, he worked in telecommunications for most of his career until retiring. A talented musician, Paul is a member of a ukulele group that has performed in various care homes. Inspired by the opportunity to bring music and creativity into people’s lives, he came out of retirement to take on his role at OSJCT.


Paul is passionate about introducing music, the arts, animals, and outdoor activities into daily life at home. He believes these experiences bring great joy to residents and provide many well-being benefits.


Outside of work, Paul remains an active member of his ukulele band and continues to pursue his passion for music.

Benson (Ben)

Benson (Ben) Ngure

Job Title: Carer Joined: 2022

Benson joined the Trust in August 2022 as a Carer. Originally from Nigeria, he previously worked as a hairdresser, barber, and massage therapist, skills which reflect his love of interacting with people.


Since joining OSJCT, Ben has embraced his role in care and is keen to progress further, with plans to begin his NVQ Health and Social Care Level 3 qualification.


Outside of work, Ben is a passionate football fan and a dedicated supporter of Arsenal FC.

Marie

Marie Coxhead

Job Title: Chef Joined: 2022

Marie joined the Trust in 2022 as a Cook and was promoted to Chef in July 2024. She holds qualifications equivalent to NVQs in Catering and Supervising.


Marie is passionate about her role and enjoys planning and creating a varied range of seasonal dishes and classic favourites for residents, working closely with the team at The Lakes. She also particularly enjoys baking cakes.


Outside of work, Marie loves spending time with her dogs and grandchildren.
