From the moment we stepped through the door in reception, the atmosphere was professional, friendly and helpful. The home smelled lovely and parents-in-law were clean, fresh and tidy.

My father was admitted to The Moors in October 2021 with vascular dementia, Altzheimer's and cancer. From day one, I was impressed by the care my father received and the professionalism of all the staff, at every level. In a short time, they really got to know my father as an individual and it was very reassuring for me to know he was being looked after so well. His end of life care could not be faulted and I am grateful to the staff for listening to our wishes and making Dad comfortable. I cannot recommend The Moors highly enough.

Due to the global pandemic, I like everyone else, have had limited access to The Moors. What I have experienced has all been very positive and the staff are kind, helpful, hard-working and professional.

My mother has been receiving nursing care at The Moors for over 10-months. She is 99-years of age, in very poor health, and suffering from vascular dementia. The family is very appreciative of the care she has received, and we are greatly comforted to know that she is content in her surrounding and is not distressed.

I couldn´t praise The Moors Care Centre highly enough! My father was admitted for respite in the Summer of 2020, and it became clear very quickly that he was in exactly the right place for his future permanent care needs. He suffers from severe Alzheimer´s and has other health complications, which had made supporting him in his own home simply unsustainable. All the staff at The Moors have been extremely supportive of my father and of me as his daughter from the outset, as it has been an emotional journey - from my first visit through to bring him in on his first day, and onwards. It is evident that the staff understand my dad´s condition and know him individually. The whole team are palpably caring, experienced and professional, and I rate the management of the centre very highly. Covid has meant restrictions in my being able to visit my father, but the team at The Moors have handled his care through the pandemic in an utterly reassuring manner, and I have been kept informed throughout.

It's early days, as Mum only arrived at The Moors in mid-December, but so far, we are really pleased with the care she is receiving. There seems to be a good sharing of information, and Mum is enjoying the activities - and definitely the meals!
I'm just looking forward to the time we can visit her, especially as she can't see her rapidly growing great-grandchildren.

I can't comment too much on facilities and cleanliness, as I can't enter yet, but Mum seems happy with her care, apart from carers who aren't gentle enough at times - she's in constant pain from arthritis and has very bad mobility, but they are still getting to know her.

Both my aunts were admitted during November/December. It was an extremely stressful time as up until they fell and subsequently went into care, they were living independently. The staff at The Moors helped during what was a trying time for them too. Not being able to see them or help with paperwork relating to them was difficult, but thanks to all the staff who have helped over the last couple of months.

Due to the current lockdown, I have not been able to visit as I would have wished. However, on a previous visit, I have found an overall high standard of care and cleanliness within the home. It is quite clear the staff are very sympathetic and caring to the needs of each resident.

I have my mum and uncle in The Moors. I can't fault how they are cared for and looked after. Think the food quality could improve, some days are better than others. I feel the amount of money we pay each week; the food should be 5* standard, with more variety maybe. I can't complain about anything else; I feel my mum and uncle are extremely well cared for and looked after very well with excellent staff.

This is a very well run home, very clean, friendly and helpful staff. The food is well prepared, and the rooms are well maintained. My only criticism is the information regarding residents welfare and needs due to Covid is neglected regarding updates on visiting.

Two team members in particular have been fantastic in helping Mum connect with us through Zoom and WhatsApp. It is our only real way to connect with Mum and cheers us all up. I only have one issue with the overall care and that is communication. In a very difficult year, with changing guidelines, we would have appreciated a monthly debrief or update of Mum's condition and the changes made for visiting etc. We enjoyed this month's newsletter but would love to see more of the same, especially when visiting is difficult.

Hi Ruth, thank you so for your review and your feedback. We take on board your comments and are always happy to receive phone calls. I am sorry you feel you haven't had enough communication and have put a plan in place to now rectify this. It has been a difficult year and completely understand how important communication is.

Review from Hannah R (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 18 December 2020 Submitted via Website

We moved my grandmother here from another care home last year and we have seen a huge improvement in her emotional well-being since then. The staff made an effort to get to know her and her needs very quickly, which helped her to feel safe and settled. Prior to moving here, we would have been extremely nervous about the impact the pandemic could have had on her, but this hasn’t been the case. Although it has been a difficult year for residents, families and staff, we have felt incredibly reassured by The Moors handling of the pandemic thus far. They have kept my grandmother safe, well, busy and happy, and have facilitated communication with families as best they can.

I am happy to say my sister in law is always telling me how happy she is in The Moors and we skype her once a week which is organised by them and she really loves that. All the staff are very friendly and any questions we have at the minute are happy to deal with over the phones. Excellent. Thank you for all you do.

Our aunt is very happy at The Moors. She enjoys all the activities and really appreciates something being organised every day. The chef tries to cook special requests which is lovely. The activities co-ordinator go the extra mile to keep the residents active well and happy in challenging times. Our aunt said to me this week I have everything I need here. At my age, you just want to be looked after and have a bit of luxury. Thank you to everyone.

We have been disappointed that we have been unable to visit Mum. However, we understand that the protection of residents and staff are paramount. We are grateful to the activities team for their photos and communication. It is difficult to evaluate when we have been unable to visit Mum in her room, but we believe everything to be excellent.

Access outside is quite poor and subject to staff's permission'. For those of 'sound mind', this can be frustrating. Key needed for own door. Residents are uneasy about asking to go out. It is their house after all. More help required in dressing/undressing - tights/bras, etc. Food, not appealing. No fresh fruit available. My mother, who had a hearty appetite, has now lost interest in meals and has lost weight. Carers to 'care' a bit more in the true sense of the word.

Over the past 16 months that my dad has been a resident, all the staff have cared and done their utmost to ensure my dad is treated with dignity and love. COVID-19 has been especially difficult but my dad has experienced nothing but excellent care during this time. As his daughter, I will always be extremely grateful for everything the staff have done.

Visiting is always pleasurable. Telephone contact is very good. As my mum joined The Moors during lockdown, I know nothing of the inside space. I've only been in the foyer and garden. I've not had the opportunity to meet many staff but she seems to have settled well. I've not been able to mark everything as I just don't know.
