My nana has been here since August 2021 and I cannot fault the care home whatsoever. The staff in every area are amazing and so friendly. They have made my nana feel so comfortable and have a new lease of life. I can’t thank all of the staff enough.

My 78-year old Mum has Alzheimer's and my 82-year old Dad was her full-time carer whilst dealing with his own health issues. As a family we reached a crisis point with neither of them eating properly, Mum becoming confused and depressed and Dad having falls. We looked at a few places but Twyford House
Care Home was the only one that felt right when we walked in. It was like walking into a hotel. Twyford House Care Home has been very accommodating, allowing my parents to have one room as a bedroom and one as a sitting room, which was very important to Mum and Dad. All the staff are friendly, professional and skilled in their job, the food is excellent and I have watched my parents return to me from a fog of ill health and confusion. They are both so much happier and brighter. Meanwhile, I can relax knowing they are in safe hands and being well cared for.

I cannot praise Twyford House enough. My mum came in very suddenly and she immediately felt at home and welcomed. The staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble. I never feel anything other than welcomed at all times. They are very easy to talk to and very caring. Mum enjoys the food which
is varied and also the activities, especially the walking club, exercises arts and crafts also. She has also enjoyed trips out on the bus more recently, visiting local places she remembers.

I required Residential Care for my husband at a very difficult time (due to Covid) the staff at Twyford House couldn't have been more helpful and understanding. Initially, it was for Respite Care but because of my husband's condition and the fact that he settled in really well, it was decided he would
stay. He is content and happy where he is and I know that he is safe. All the staff at Twyford House from the Reception, Management, Nursing and all involved in the running of the home are caring, friendly and couldn't be more helpful in a difficult time for families.

Since my mum has been at Twyford House, she has improved tremendously in communication, socialising and general mental health. It has given my sister and me the opportunity to enjoy her company again, instead of being like carers for her always shopping, washing etc, so now time to just sit and talk.
We can't thank the team enough for how they look after our Mum and how kind and thoughtful they always are. Thank you for all your help.

I honestly can't recommend this care home enough. Our family went from looking after our grandma full time and very stressed to now thoroughly enjoying going to the care home and spending quality time. I can't thank the home enough for taking care of our grandma and giving her a new lease of life. She's
the happiest I've ever seen her. The staff are amazing.

My sister and brother realised that Mum needed extra care and was not coping very well living by herself.
It was a tough decision but was also the best decision we all made together, including Mum.
Mum was lonely and when we saw Twyford house and met the staff we knew she would enjoy it.
There are
so many activities going on in the company.
The staff are lovely and put the residents at the heart of everything, it must be really hard and frustrating along with the constant worry of covid-19. It is good that we can still have window visits with Mum, and the visiting pod when restrictions are eased.
We can't wait until we can come and have a hug with Mum, and join in with the activities!
Thank you for looking after Mum and for giving her her sparkle back.

With the exception of some unsettling staff changes and uncertainty of the place not being able to remain open due to no residents, the service being given to the sole resident is exceptional. Staff are lovely and kind to Mum. Mum 'has been' an ideal resident until recently and is now putting skills
to the test as she is now a lonely soul and can't understand why she is there alone and there at all, but the staff remain in control, kind and respectful. It would be nice to have more residents to be assured of your success. The place is beautiful and the staff are wonderful.
Reply from Laura Lockett, Home Manager at Twyford House Care HomeThank you so much for your kind words, I am really sorry that you have had concerns about your mum being the only resident for a while and I know that my team did everything they could to ensure that she was engaged and never lonely. I'm sure that you are aware that we now have a lovely and ever-growing group of diverse residents who have brought life into our lovely home and we are delighted.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.409)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.409) out of 10 for Twyford House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.559 for Twyford House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (148 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 186 Ratings = 4.559
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Twyford House Care Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
