- Worsened language and communication issues, forgetting what they are saying mid-sentence. Not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- More frequent confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition
- Difficulties sleeping or waking during the night and behaving as though it is daytime - loss of circadian rhythm.
Advanced Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "severe dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Severe memory problems. Not recognising family members and friends. Not being able to recall their own name
- Severe language and communication issues, not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- Severe confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition

Verbally or physically aggressive behaviour
If your loved one displays this type of behaviour you may need a care home that has specially trained staff. Verbal/physical aggression is often defined:

My mum Margaret was transferred from a care home in warsop to Woodland Park Care Home!! Mansfield!! Mum has dementia & parkisons. When mum arrived her mobility was around 5%. She was depressed anxious, dare I say it dirty tired..Within a few days my mum was singing, dancing, walking,,smiling, . Just let that sink in!! We were blown away. The owners & all the staff are true angels. They dont put on a show while your visiting. They care 24hrs a day ALL. Even the owners. They gave my mum a home. We know shes safe & cared for. Anyone looking to find a home for loved ones think about here. You wont be disappointed!! They are truly amazing. To all the staff & the owners who are just the best!! Overall Experience
Woodland Park..Amazing Staff!
As a family we have been to hell and back regarding Mum's care. She was badly neglected at another local Nursing Home.
The Manager at Woodland Park, Katie & her Deputy Amy assessed Mum in hospital & they accepted her.
On Mum's arrival at Woodland Park the Team were like Angels and showed respect, kindness, love, care, compassion and understanding. It was beautiful to see.
Mum is finally getting the care she deserves and by lovely genuine staff who all go above and beyond to do their best for her.
Thank goodness we have found Woodland Park!
The staff have brought my Mum back to life & she is happy and relaxed and so are we.

Overall Experience
Woodland Park is a new home that has opened recently. The home is bright, clean very spacious for the residents to move freely around . The management and staff are outstanding very friendly nothing is too much trouble for them to help . They are very attentive to all the residents learning about the individuals needs to ensure there comfort is priority in there everyday whilst in the home. I would recommend to take your loved ones to this home .
