Tuesday 12 May was International Nurses’ Day, a campaign supported by The Royal College of Nursing to celebrate and recognise the work of nurses in the UK and throughout the world.
The nursing team here at The Chiswick are an invaluable members of our staff team and at the very heart of the care we provide. We simply couldn’t manage without them working seamlessly, as they do, with our healthcare providers.
What more apt way was there to thank them than with a special prescription? In this case, not a drug – although it could be addictive – but ‘Prescription Chocolate’? This tasty treat even came with its own instructions to be read before consuming. Side effects could include ‘cheeks hurting from too much smiling’ and ‘sudden healing powers’. There was also a health warning: ‘contents my disappear faster than you meant them to. Please do not panic. This is completely normal’.
We hoped it brought a smile, a few minutes of well-deserved indulgence and a feel good factor. It was one small gesture from all of us here at the Chiswick Nursing Centre to those whose role is so central to what to we do, it even features in our name.
