Sevenoaks care home opens its doors to the community

Residents and staff at Westbank Care Home in Borough Green are inviting local people to come along, meet the team and enjoy a range of activities as part of National Care Home Open Week.

The home, located on Sevenoaks Road, will host a series of activities from Monday, June 15 to Friday, June 19, giving members of the community an opportunity to see life inside the care home, meet residents and staff, and learn more about the support provided.

The week-long programme includes a coffee morning, pub quiz, gardening party, live music performance and arts and crafts sessions, all designed to bring people together and strengthen connections between the care home and the wider community.

Events taking place during the week include:

Monday, June 15 – Coffee Morning, 11am to 12.30pm Tuesday, June 16 – Pub Quiz, 2.30pm to 4.30pm Wednesday, June 17 – Gardening Party, 2.30pm to 4.30pm Thursday, June 18 – Live performance from Rob T Ukulele, 2.30pm Friday, June 19 – Knit and Natter and crafts session, 2.30pm to 4.30pm

National Care Home Open Week is an annual initiative that encourages care homes across the country to open their doors, challenge misconceptions about care and celebrate the important role they play within their communities.

Beckie Waterman, home manager at Westbank Care Home, said: “We are delighted to be taking part in Care Home Open Week and would love to welcome people from across Borough Green and the surrounding areas to visit us.

“Care homes are at the heart of their communities and this is a wonderful opportunity for people to come in, meet our residents and team, enjoy some activities and see first-hand the warm and welcoming environment we have here at Westbank.

“Whether someone has a loved one living with us, is considering care for themselves or a family member, or simply wants to get involved in a community event, everyone is welcome. We are looking forward to meeting lots of new faces throughout the week.”
