Care Homes Owned by Leaders of Worship & Preachers Homes (LWPHomes)
The Leaders of Worship and Preachers Homes (LWPHomes) is a charitable organisation, formed in 2005, as the result of wide-ranging consultation, to assist preachers and leaders of worship, their widow/widowers and dependents in times of need.
LWPHomes offer excellent facilities in a Christian environment with a wide range of eligibility for residence.
All residents enjoy the freedoms and civil liberties associated with living as normal citizens in the community. Residents are encouraged to pursue their own hobbies and interests, either in the wider community or within the home. Since the Homes are Christian Homes, residents are encouraged to share in daily family prayers, where possible, but this is not obligatory. These prayers are held each weekday in the mornings and Holy Communion is celebrated monthly.

My short stay was very satisfactory. It helped me through a post operative period. The residents were all very well turned out and catered to. A remote control for the TV would have been nice. I can't fault any of the staff. They were all friendly and helpful.

My husband spent a week for respite. He really enjoyed the food, there was always a selection available and very well cooked. The care was a very good standard. There were activities to get involved with daily. The bathroom facilities were excellent with an electric chair so he could manage to have

I visit the home on a regular basis. I find the staff to always be very friendly and welcoming, as well as incredibly helpful and supportive. The managers and the staff have improved this home through their hard work and a love of their vocation, with all the staff seeming to work well and supportively
together. The residents are always happy and are well cared for both collectively and individually in every way, and always speak very highly of the care and support that they are given. I absolutely love the home for its character, cleanliness and layout, as well as the many activities that are provided for the residents, from parties, celebrations, trips, and visits. I am also encouraged by its Christian ethos with devotions every day for the residents providing an important support for those no longer able to go to church.
As and when I reach old age it would be my first choice home from all the that homes I visit. I would recommend this home to everyone.

The resident has spent 6 months under care. A difficult time for everyone concerned following a traumatic event in January. Care has been lovingly given which has made the burden easier to deal with.

My mum has some complex physical needs due to her parkinsons but that never means the staff treat her any different. She is given time and spoken to with respect and dignity.

Westerley is a really homely care home. The carers work very hard and have shown nothing but kindness towards my mum. I am a frequent visitor and have seen first-hand the respectful care they offer to all.
New managers have made positive enhancements and have always answered any questions I have in
an honest and transparent way.
I feel the whole Westerley team truly care for my mum.

My experience of this home is limited to a weeks respite care but I am familiar with two other care homes so can make a relative assessment. The strength of this home is that the staff are the best caring team I have encountered and the new managers really dedicated to improvements all round following
on advice CQC report 2 years or so ago. My disappointment lasted to the other residents, a dozen or so very old ladies wo are no longer able (or liking) to socialise, but this appears to be fairly typical of care homes these days. Room facilities, meals and activities are thoughtfully planned and changes remarkably low. The Christian origins of this home continue to be important.
Reply from Simon Lee, CEO at Westerley Christian Care HomeMany thanks for your review and kind words for the caring nature of our home and staff. I am pleased that the positive changes have been recognised since the previous CQC rating some time ago and that the home now has a CQC 'Good' rating. We enjoyed having you stay with us and hope that if you need further respite in future you would like to come back.

I just wanted to write and say how wonderful Westerley Christian Care Home have been looking after our mum. She arrived really struggling to get up and walk, following a long hospital visit. She is now doing really well, enjoys socialising in the day in the conservatory. Eats well and joins in the activities,
like drives up to the moors. She is now able to walk again with her Zimmer frame. She is calm and relaxed looking out onto the beautifully looked-after garden. We couldn't ask for more from the amazing kind care team. We feel very lucky to have found Westerley Christian Care Home.

Following the change of management, the visit seemed to have a better feel/connection with us. It seemed that the home was better organised, however, my mother has expressed she is not happy about being put to bed so late, so maybe some improvement here would help. The present manager seems to be more
on the ball with getting things sorted for the residents.

I appreciate the daily devotions greatly, also the activities. It is a shame so many residents are deaf, normal conversation, especially at meals is impossible.
Lunch, the main meal of the day, is unable to be properly enjoyed in my case, one at my table grumbles and moans as she eats. Another with
eyes closed mainly 'eats' precariously, should residents like these be sat apart.

My mother, who is frail, reserved, dementia and anxiety sufferer has lived at Westerley for one year. We have found management, carers and all assistants helpful and incredibly kind and supportive and my mother's individual needs are met. I feel mother would not be cared for better or be happier anywhere
else. The atmosphere of Westerley is friendly and welcoming and to visit at any time is a bonus. Thank you Westerley.

The room is spacious and very home like with personal belongings on display. It certainly doesn’t feel like a care home but rather more personal. The carers could not be more ‘caring’. They work tirelessly to make sure life is as comfortable as possible. They are always busy but always find time to
have a chat and a laugh. Their dedication to the job is incredible. The facilities and activities available are comprehensive and everyone is made aware of what activities are available and encouraged to become involved especially keep fit exercises which can be standing or sitting and as involved as you want.
I am bedbound but still encouraged to move limbs where possible and not lie static in one position for long. In conclusion, the Home is not what I expected, it is comfortable, friendly and now feels like home.

For over three years as a resident at Westerley, my father has been looked after by every single carer as though he was their relative and treated with respect and friendship. I have nothing but praise for them all, especially during the past two years. Their encouragement and good humour after a fall,
initially, lifted him and helped him to recover. He knows he has a safety net around him in case of an emergency. His physical, dietary and social needs are met and he loves and takes an interest in the garden, which he enjoys whenever he can. We are kept informed of any problems and our enquires are always dealt with promptly.
Reply from Simon Lee, Director of Care Services at Westerley Christian Care HomeThank you for your kind review and lovely sentiments about our staff and home. We are pleased your father continues to enjoy the home and gardens, which I must say are especially nice and well maintained. Thanks again for your review and we will continue to ensure our services are of high quality and meet the needs of our residents and beyond.

My mother is currently receiving care at Westerley and she loves it! She contracted Covid at home last year, spending 3 months in hospital before returning home. Unfortunately at the age of 86 she lost her mobility. The staff at Westerley are excellent and care for all the clients with compassion and
love.
Mum enjoys the craft activities, the Christian services as well as the sociability of other residents.
The food is of a good standard, with varied menus and choices. Mum wants to return home to be with my dad but I am sure she will definitely miss everyone at Westerley when she does.
Reply from Simon Lee, Director of Care Services at Westerley Christian Care HomeWe are so pleased your Mum is enjoying her stay with us and I am sure the residents and staff will miss her too when she goes home. She will always be welcome back should the need arise in future or if she would like a holiday!

I spent four weeks in respite care following a fall at home. The staff at every level were kind and thoughtful and the general atmosphere at the home was very welcoming. I found the morning session of 'devotion' a lovely start to the day. That was followed by a morning session in the activities room
which gave mental and physical exercise and also gave an opportunity to integrate with other residents, which was very beneficial.

I really cannot speak highly enough of Westerley. My relative has been living there for just over three years. She is thriving in the care and attention she receives and is stronger and happier than when she first went in there from hospital, following a stroke. The facilities are ideal and homely.
All the staff are amazing and do all they can to help, often going over and above to do what they can. Everyone is treated as an individual.

My mum took up residence in Westerley in 2017 and she has been very happy there since she moved in. She has a lovely, cosy room with an en-suite bathroom and toilet. She has a large window where she can watch the birds and squirrels go about their daily business. It is also lovely to see her actively
banter with the staff with both parties laughing and joking.
Westerley is a lovely and well run care home with caring staff who are fully committed to the welfare of their residents. I believe that its small size and homely interior decor give it a cosy and welcoming ambience. The food is home-cooked, fresh, very tasty and the menu is varied throughout the week. There is a variety of activities on offer ranging from Christian worship to organised parties on special days and anniversaries. The library has a collection of books and stimulating puzzles plus access to the internet for those inclined. The residents are encouraged to leave their rooms to mix with the other residents or they can spend quiet time in the library. My mum will do a combination of mixing or quiet times, whatever takes her fancy. Sometimes she may spend the day in her room reading her newspaper, snoozing or watching TV. That's fine too.
The ongoing Covid management programme at Westerley is excellent and during lockdown was also caring for both residents and relatives. Although we couldn't visit mum, the staff arranged zoom calls with her, so that we could still speak with her face to face.
Westerley is a lovely place. Mum is happy and well cared for, which for us as a family, gives us peace of mind.

Our mum has been at the Westerley for nine months. The staff have coped admirably and thoughtfully throughout the pandemic. There’s a piano for Mum to play. Particular pluses are the homely food (our mum has put on weight) and the seaside literally down the road. Any queries are happily received and
generally dealt with quickly by the management who keep in contact with the family via text and email.
