Review of Acacia House - Tenterden from Robbie D (Son of Resident) published on 10 September 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother has been at Acacia House for several years now. She has dementia, a complicated illness which can be challenging for people around her to work with. The staff have been great in the way that they interact with her. Despite her not always being cooperative, the staff at Acacia House have been patient & understanding, which makes me feel like she is in good hands.
They also do a good service in communicating with families of the residents. They have always called or emailed me if there anything they need ti update me with.

This is the second home my mother has been in & I can honestly say that Acacia House is by far a more homely & community driven place. I would be happy to recommend them.

Reply from Cristian Tarus, Home Manager at Acacia House - Tenterden

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. It means a great deal to our whole team to know that your mother feels well supported and that you have confidence in the care she receives. We are especially pleased that Acacia House feels homely and community-focused, as this is something we work very hard to maintain. Thank you for your continued trust and recommendation.

Review of Oakdale Care Home from Brian B (Son of Resident) published on 2 September 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Our mum has been a resident at Oakdale since January 2024. As soon as we came for the show around we knew we had found the ideal care home for her, it had a lovely homely feel to it.
The manager and her team make sure all of her needs are taken care of to a very high standard.
When we visit Mum she is always happy, and relaxed. They are also very supportive to us family members when we visit.
Her dementia has worsened in recent months, so Mum doesn't get involved in as many activities as she once did. But all the staff go above and beyond to involve her as much as possible and keep her physically active.

We would highly recommend Oakdale.

Excellent help in settling my Brother-in-law and supporting him in the loss of his wife. He had problems at first which were dealt with sympathetically. He now seems very settled and accepting that thus will now be his home! The staff are friendly and helpful as is the Manager Melanie.

Review of Acacia House - Tenterden from K U (Sister of Resident) published on 28 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I visited my sister in July 2026. I found the staff friendly and very helpful nothing seems to be to much trouble. My sister looked clean and well presented her room was also very clean and tidy. I have always found the staff at the home very professional they regularly phone or email me to keep me updated with any needs or health concerns regarding my sister, which gives me great peace of mind. On this occasion I was not present when it was a meal time so can not comment on the food ,however in the past it has always looked appetising and well presented. On the whole I am very pleased with this care home and feel my sister is well looked after and comfortable.

Reply from Cristian Tarus, Home Manager at Acacia House - Tenterden

Thank you very much for your kind feedback. We are delighted to hear that your sister continues to be well cared for and comfortable, and that you feel kept informed about her health and wellbeing. Attended the 25 years celebration BBQ Aug 2026 and wanted to say a big thank you for a fabulous well arranged event . The staff and some of their own family members provided great food , entertainment and lots of activities for all age groups. My dad has been a resident for just over a year and our family continue to be impressed with the level of special care , patience and kindness. We visit every week and have got to know staff , other residents and some of their families . It honestly feels liked an extended family .

My mum has been with oakdale for just over 2 years now she was diagnosed with dementia just before when I noticed things were not right. My family looked at 1 other care home, then visited oakdale and was overwhelmed by the way it was run.

All the staff are excellent and well trained at what they do for the residents, they show genuine care and respect for each one. They know me by name and treated like one of the family. They keep me updated on my mums welfare, her tablets etc and if she has had a bad day which is few. My mum is settled there. I feel blessed that we chose oakdale.

Review of Acacia House - Tenterden from Karen A (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
This home has offered excellent care and unwavering support to both our family and my Dad. I cannot praise this home enough. The whole team are truly special, lovely, polite and friendly and nothing is to much trouble, My Dad had a number of health issues and the nurses always kept me updated on everything, I never felt left out. The entertainment program was very engaging and Dad loved joining in with the activities. The management team were always approachable answering any queries regarding the more in depth questions relating to care. Dad loved it there and was very happy he made some lovely friends it was just unfortunate that we had to move him because of distance and funding.

I would thoroughly recommend.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was a real pleasure to care for your father and to get to know both him and your family during his time with us. We are very sad to see him leave Acacia House, but we are also happy knowing that he will now be closer to his family. We wish him and all of you the very best for the future, and he will certainly be missed by everyone here.

I have volunteered here for a little over 3 months. I help with activities mainly but will help in other ways if asked to. I find it a warm and friendly home where I feel I am accepted & valued and fit in with the team here. I'm not after a job but somewhere I can come and help when I'm able to and it works for me and the home.

It was a very difficult decision putting my mum into care, I had looked after her since Lockdown and could no longer cope as her altzeimers got increasingly worse. With the help of my family we found Oakdale and have been relieved and pleased that she has settled in well and is being well cared for by all the staff. Many thanks to all the team for their professionalism, dedication and wonderful work they all do.

My father has been staying at this care home for some time now, and as a family, we couldn't be more grateful for the care he receives. From the very beginning, the staff have been kind, compassionate, and incredibly attentive.
Every member of the team treats my father with dignity and respect. They take the time to get to know him as a person - his preferences, his routines, It's clear that they genuinely care, and that means everything to us.
The communication with our family has also been excellent. We're always kept informed, and any questions or concerns are handled quickly and professionally. It gives us real peace of mind knowing he is in such capable and caring hands.
The home itself is warm, welcoming, and always clean, creating a comfortable and safe environment. Most importantly, my father feels happy and secure there - and that speaks volumes.

Thank you to the entire team for the wonderful work you do every day.

My dad has lived at Oakdale for six years now and I am so pleased he is there. From the moment I first visited and spoke with Melanie I knew dad would be well cared for and happy. The staff are amazing and work very hard, nothing seems to be too much trouble. His care and medical needs have increased over the years but this has not been a problem for Oakdale. The food is good and there's plenty of it, his room is clean and tidy and dad is always well dressed.

The best part of Oakdale is that it's a real family. The residents are happy, visitors always welcome and management very helpful and knowledgeable. Oakdale has not only looked after my dad but have helped me through tough times with dad.
