Dad was at Primley Court for just under 2 years. During that time he was treated with kindness, dignity, compassion and outstanding care in often at times difficult circumstances. As a family, we felt fully supported and listened to. The staff enabled us to take Dad out for a weekly visit to Torquay seafront to have a fish and chip lunch - it was a precious time for us. His end-of-life care was outstanding. We cannot thank the staff enough.

Our family is so grateful for the care my husband has received at Primley Court Nursing Home. The staff are not just professional, but genuinely compassionate. I was concerned about my husband going into a home but he has settled so well, he loves the staff, always smiling with them. We also appreciate the diverse activities calendar, he loves the music and dancing. It gives the whole family peace of mind that he is safe and treated with such dignity.

3rd visit to my sister. Delighted with the standard of care and number of wonderful staff on hand ready to attend to the clients.

All the staff are attentive, caring, considerate and friendly. They carry out their work calmly and quietly, sitting with the clients and chatting. They are interested in acquiring details about the background regarding my sister so can talk about her past. The records/comments held are detailed and relayed by phone or discussion on site when requested!

I have visited my auntie 3 times since January and am over the moon at the care provided by the team. The staff are amazing. The care they provide is exceptional. All her needs are met. The staff are informative, gentle, kind, efficent and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms and lounge are clean, you are met with a smile, the meals are fresh. I could not ask for a better place for my auntie.

My mum has been a resident in the Leonard Elms for 4 years She sadly passed away on Monday. I have said before how amazing this team is and the end of life care my mum received has been exemplary. The whole time mum was there the care team have supported us so well. I have never had to fight for anything. They have always been so transparent with everything and worked so well with the dr surgery. I have not had to worry about social work issues or funding issues. Ive been so well supported and you need this because its such an emotional time having your wonderful mum In care. She has lived 4 years with another family and has been treated as family with love, care and compassion. The educational standard there is outstanding and Optima care are fantastic. Special Thankyou to the amazing Manager Katie Maidment, so professional and knowledgeable. Nurses are amazing and the carers amazing. We are eternally grateful for the outstanding care give to mum and the love shown to her

We have had experience of Primley View since January 2024 when our Dad aged 101 years of age was sent there from South Hams Hospital. Their level of care is off the scale and we could not have asked for better care for him. An empathetic and compassionate team headed by an exceptional lady who deserves every accolade for her care and attention backed by a team who should write the definitive book on dementia care. Cannot recommend this Home highly enough.

I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Primley Court - they truly seem to care for all the residents - even the most difficult - thankful my Mum has found this place even though I wish she wasn't in it.

Friday afternoons with Amanda are terrific - the residents and staff seem to really enjoy the music and dancing!

Reply from Stephen Crisp, Director at Primley Court Nursing Home

Thank you for your kind sentiments towards our staff, we of course, also believe thay give 100% to our residents and family members. Activities are often under publicised, we are fortunate enough to have such a good activities team supporting the home. Our singer is a regular by request of the residents and highly thought of.

My only complaint is the excessive charges of the owners.
The care in the home was exemplary from on site management to every care worker. They were all kind, thoughtful and helpful and never complained when the nature of the illness made the resident at times aggressive physically.

The lady organising activities was also superb delivering a variety of these thoughtfully and always with a smile and positive manner.

Reply from Stephen Crisp, Director at Primley Court Nursing Home

Thank you for taking the time to advise us that you found our services exemplary and care team so kind and helpful. Charges for external complememtary services are unfortunatly set by those professinonals engagued and not by the care home owners who facilitate this support on your behalf. The management and care team wish you well for the future.

Overall Experience
My wife who has Alzheimer's was admitted to Hospital in mid December after suffering psychotic episodes. She spent a number of weeks in hospital and placed in Primley Court in mid January.
She arrived at Primley very confused and anxious and quite ill but from her arrival she was in good hands. Her care was exceptional and the staff were always there to help her when required.
There was always a good program of varied activities for residents.which she enjoyed.
The home was always clean and well presented throughout, and the carers were always happy and helpful
All the management and staff were professional in everything they did and always attempted to keep a calm atmosphere by always being available for residents when needed.
We were always made to feel welcome when visiting.
Updates on my wife's care were always available as required.
Whenever I required assistance with the care processes the management were always available to give advice and if required help.

Thanks

Primley Court (The View) gave outstanding compassionate care to my dad during the last 8 months of his life and treated him as if he was their own family member and all through our visits treated us as extended family with kindness always having time to discuss his care. All the different departments showed the same care and respect- laundry, cooks, cleaners, maintenance, carers and nurses alike. I would recommend this nursing home for your family member.

Review of The Leonard Elms Care Home from Louise L (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 March 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mum was in the Leonard Elms for 16 months up until December 2024. She had mobility issues as well as dementia.
In all the time that my mum was at the Home, she received excellent care from the care team and the nursing team. Their dedication and care of the residents is second to none. The atmosphere in the home is like one large family, with many of the staff having been there for a number of years.
The nursing team are excellent and on occasions when my mum has been very poorly, they have acted very professionally, with a calm and caring nature, giving me regular updates.
The Manager is excellent. Always very approachable, offering support when required with any issues that may arise.
They have a family liaison carer, who gives emotional support to families and holds a monthly coffee morning at the home for relatives. She is a fantastic support to any relative who may be struggling with having to place their loved one in a home.

I would highly recommend this care home.

Review of Primley Court Nursing Home from Sharon W (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 March 2025 Submitted via Website

The staff at Primley cared for my mom from July 2024 right up to her passing late February 2025. At first she was at Primley Court which specialises in support for dementia residents. However, as other conditions took over she was moved to Primley View, which is more suited for end-of-life nursing care.
Both places have incredible staff, but the View was better for her being smaller, more homely and very quiet and peaceful.
I cannot praise the Manager, and all her team enough for the care and attention that Mom received. Nothing was too much trouble and every need catered for. And I really value the communication, sensitivity and support that I have had.
On a practical level they are so accommodating - not waking Mom up for meals and showers etc. , but instead fitting in everything around her waking hours. Her room was light and cheerful, and always lovely and warm. Bedding/clothing was changed regularly and she always looked so comfortable.

Thank you so much for everything

I can't speak highly enough of Primley View. The care, respect and commitment from all staff was incredible. Dad always looked clean, smart and clean shaved which was very important to him. He found personal care difficult because he wanted to do it himself but was unable. The staff were always patient, understanding, considerate and caring remaining respectful of his wishes at all times. The entertainment provided was always wonderful and I am so grateful to all the staff there for their wonderful, considerate care for Dad, myself and family. Thank you so much.

My Dad was in Primley View for about 10 months. The care, support, empathy, and professionalism toward Dad and his family from all the staff was outstanding. We knew he was in safe hands and well cared for. Always clean-shaven and nicely dressed. Everyone made a sad situation a little easier to handle. We know Dad is missed and we miss the Primley View family. You're all amazing. Dad is off on his travels now and we will never be able to thank you enough!

It took me a while to understand and accept what the nursing home did and was. I could not have been better reassured by the staff. They explained the treatment/medication and every part of what they were doing to make my partner's stay a better experience. Every person employed at the home treated my partner, myself, and my family with a smile, help, and understanding. They made the last 2 and 1/2 months bearable. I will miss all of them very much. Thank you is not enough.

I am delighted with the level of care that my Grandad has received in his 6 months at Primley Court. He is a very unpredictable, complex character that needs a very specific approach and Primley have delivered. There is always an abundance of staff from carers and nurses to cleaners and housekeeping. Everyone is very patient and the delivery of care is well-managed to make sure nothing is missed.
