The care that Mum has received since she moved here 2 years ago has been exceptional & as a family we believe that Mum wouldn't have celebrated her 90th birthday this month without them. From the cleaners & laundry workers who lift Mum's spirits as she's mainly bed bound, the catering team making food
palatable, the hairdresser/beautician who helps Mum feel feminine, the oh so patient caring carers, the observant friendly nursing team & the helpful smiley admin staff and of course the entertainment team with their varied entertainments all help Mum to live her best life Thank you.

This is an amazing nursing home as since my mother was admitted as a resident nearly 3 years ago the care has been nothing less than exemplary. The whole staff team are kind , caring, proactive, patient, professional and respectful of all of the residents. I have frequently visited staying for a long
time as I live some considerable distance away and as such have become part of the background so to speak so I have been able to observe the care given in a compassionate way to many residents. My mother is encouraged to make her own decisions but also has been the beneficiary of encouraging care which allows her to participate in the many activities which she might otherwise miss. The nursing staff and carers respond speedily to call bells and if they are unable to resolve an issue at once reassure the resident that this will be forthcoming and why there might be a slight delay, usually because of another emergency. The food is well presented and of a high quality including preferences.

The care and support mum has received has been outstanding. Mum had been diagnosed with dementia a few years ago and we as a family were struggling to cope with her general confusion, mood and anger (frustration). After a short stay in hospital she was placed in Parkwood and remains there today.
The staff are very caring and very welcoming. Mum has been well supported by the caring staff both mentally and physically, they show her and other residents respect and loving concern. I do feel they have become her family which comes as a relief knowing that she has people who care looking after her. The staff engage with mum with conversation as best they can and cuddles which she has loved. The nicest care home and staff I have ever come across. If you want the best for your family member Parkwood and its staff is the place for them to be looked after.

My sister was a resident here for 8 1/2 years. She was admitted with poorly controlled diabetes (type 1) and developing vascular dementia. In her final 3+ year she was mainly bed bound, did not speak nor recognise visitors. The care and support over the years was excellent from the management, nurses
and carers. In effect they became her family. The nursing supervision and control of her diabetes was first class. The friendship, concern and communication with me as her P of A was also excellent.

My husband spent the last three months of his life at Sefton Hall after a long battle with dementia. I always felt confident about leaving him in their care. I witnessed patience, kindness and professionalism from the staff when they dealt with his difficult behaviour. He was treated with dignity and
as an individual. There was also a culture of caring for relatives, which I appreciated when visiting. I feel we were lucky that Sefton Hall were willing and able to accommodate my husband.

The care that my Dad receives is excellent. Every member of staff; nurses, carers, cleaners, chefs etc.. all go out of their way to help and ensure that dad has all of his needs taken into account. He really benefits form the range of activities that are organised both inside the home and outings to
interesting places in the area. Dad looks forward to these in particular. He doesn't have a great appetite but the high standard of all the meals means he has a great diet. They also will adapt meals to Dad's preferences.

Mum's transition into care was strongly resisted and messy. It started with falls at home, a gradual loss of mobility after a hospital stay, and an Alzheimer's diagnosis. Something was missing at her previous home; she was becoming depressed, bored, and increasingly bed bound.
Luckily, I discovered
Parkwood through the son of another resident, his accounts seemed too good to be true, but I couldn't ignore the chance of finding somewhere better for Mum.
After an unsettled start, Mum gradually began to relax and responded to the little things that Parkwood is all about - like putting the milk in her tea, so it was just how she liked it. Soon, Mum was getting up, out of bed and into her chair every day. She was forming friendships with the lovely resident hairdresser, the cheeky cleaner who joked with her whilst dusting her room, and the carers who helped Mum with so much kindness, and patience. Shortly before Mum died, she said 'I never thought I could be happy in a home, but I am.'

My family and I are so grateful for the outstanding care that Sefton Hall staff provided for our dad during his short stay there. Sefton's 'Outstanding' CQC award and other awards are truly deserved. From the manager, admin staff, nurses, and care assistants to the cleaner, every single person provided
exceptional care and support for Dad and for our family.
From the moment Dad arrived at Sefton Hall, he was provided with the utmost respect, friendliness, care and compassion. He received an excellent standard of care from all staff. The staff, without exception, allowed Dad to be himself, to make his own choices and to maintain the highest level of dignity. As visitors, my sister and I were cared for and supported sensitively, particularly during the last few days of Dad's dementia journey and when he passed away. We could not have wished for more. Our only regret is that Dad didn't come to Sefton Hall earlier. Heartfelt thanks to all involved.

The Old Rectory

Following a fall at home in late 2023, several weeks in hospital, and a month in a care home for assessment, it became clear that Dad was not going to be able to manage at home anymore, not least because his condition had progressed to the point where he was no longer able to speak. We were so relieved
to find The Old Rectory. Its cosy, homely atmosphere was a stark (and positive) contrast to some of the other places we had visited. The staff took time to learn about Dad and his likes/dislikes so he could have his coffee the way he had always liked it (he had always hated tea but the assessment place always gave him tea instead of coffee, then wondered why he wasn't drinking!). Dad's condition progressed more rapidly than expected, but the staff were so kind and caring. They kept us updated with his medical needs and were always welcoming when we visited. As he neared the end of his life it was so comforting that he could stay where he was, without having to go into hospital.

I can't thank The Old Rectory team enough for their exceptional care and kindness to my dad and our family. From our first visit, the staff reassured us with their warmth and professionalism, making the difficult decision of moving Dad into care easier.
The nurses went above and beyond, offering compassionate
advice and expert care for his medical needs. The activity coordinators brought so much joy, encouraging Dad to participate in ways he never had before. Their personal touches, like remembering our names and sharing stories, truly meant the world to us.
Every team member was kind, attentive, and compassionate. Knowing my dad spent his final months feeling loved and cared for is a comfort I'll always hold onto. If you're looking for a place where your loved one will be treated with genuine care and respect, I wholeheartedly recommend The Old Rectory.

This is my second review, four years after my first one, which I wrote soon after my mother arrived at Parkwood House. She died a peaceful, dignified death in May 2024, two days shy of her 98th birthday. I have nothing but praise for the way my mother was looked after, and loved, while at Parkwood House.
A courageous, independent lady, she initially requested to be taken to Switzerland for euthanasia if she could not return home. As she was blind, with delirium and other difficulties the latter was not possible so it was up to the staff to cope, which they did kindly, with compassion, with humour, and with endless patience. There were falls, there were mental meltdowns and difficult episodes, it was never easy, which leaves me all the more indebted to this wonderful nursing home. Knowing she was in the best possible place took a huge weight off my mind. My sister and I could enjoy visiting our mother while her multiple needs were expertly taken care of. Thank you.

My mum had to move into this care home when my dad passed away as, at the time, we were not in a position to care for her ourselves as she has multiple sclerosis (MS). Mum was in The Seaton for 8 months and we cannot fault the care, genuine respect and kindness given to her and other residents during
her stay. It has a very relaxed and homely feel to it with lots of activities for residents to participate in. As a daughter visiting my mum, all the staff were so friendly to me and I felt like part of the family too. All the staff were sensitive in accommodating Mum's needs and abilities and she thoroughly enjoyed herself while staying there. You only had to see the smile on her face and the constant credit she gave to the carers. Mum is now accommodated for by ourselves but she and we cannot praise the hospitality and care that was given to her enough. All the staff are a true credit to this home.

My mother was sent here when it was found her cancer treatment wasn't working and was for end-of-life care. This was January 2023, and she was there up till the time of her passing in June 2024. I can honestly say, the dedication, respect, and level of care we saw given is the best you could possibly
find anywhere. Mum never once asked about her house once she was there. It became home to her so quickly. The residents are constantly checked in on, to make sure they are OK, if not in a communal area, and asked if they need anything, regardless of whether it is that staff member's patient or someone else's. The whole atmosphere from the top to the bottom is that this is our home, and the residents are all family. When Mum was towards the end, you could see how upset they were at the thought of losing her, and more than a few tears were shed by the staff. I honestly cannot express in words the gratitude I have to them all for making her time there such a happy and contented one.

The Old Rectory is not a modern deluxe home, it is old, cosy and comfortable. It oozes charm and interest. The staff will become like your family and will try to satisfy your requests however challenging. Their catering is excellent with cake and biscuits! You will certainly find things to do, a.m excercises,
p.m making fruit kebabs. One week you will be visited by birds of prey, the next, a python. They have every type of music and quizzes.

The Old Rectory describes itself as more a 'household' than a 'care home' - and I would agree with this. We found it cosy, relaxed and happy. Mum lived there for 14 months. She had dementia, mobility and communication difficulties. During her time at The Old Rectory her speech, mobility and appetite
all improved. More importantly she felt loved and was happy - and loved the staff back. They responded to her love of music and dance so that there were many many times of fun and laughter for her. Unexpectedly my father became terminally ill during the last year and the staff were able to accommodate his wish to move into the room next door to Mum - bringing the family settee so that they could snuggle up together. As a family we were able to completely relax in the knowledge that all was well with our parents whilst in their care.

My relative has been a resident at Parkwood since November 2019. In all that time I have been exceptionally pleased with the care and support provided to them and to me and my family.
I know my relative is very well cared for and the staff have an excellent understanding of their needs and have managed
their dementia with love, care and when relevant humour, particularly when they can be challenging.
I am kept informed of any changes and can sleep peacefully at night knowing that my relative is in a safe place and that all staff at Parkwood are committed to providing the best care and support possible.
It truly is a family and I feel blessed that my relative is living there.
