When you first walk into Ty Cariad, you see immediately how much the staff put in for the individuals and their visiting relatives.
There are colourful pictures made my the residents and staff, there are interactive pictures on the wall for relatives to add to.
The staff are always friendly, welcoming,
helpful and show amazing care to each individual in their care.
The beautiful garden is a treasure, the individuals can enjoy either with the carers or with visiting relatives.
I recently took my golden labrador to see my Aunty, she was overjoyed with his visit. It wasn't a problem for Ty Cariad, in fact they encourage it.
Reply from Debbie Arthur, Manager at Ty Cariad Dementia Care CentreThank you. We all love making the home unique and welcoming, and we welcome visits from pets big and small at any time. All are welcome. Thank you.

My Dad lived alone and started to be unsafe by himself, so when he moved to Ty Cariad it was such a relief. I researched all the local care homes in the area and visited Ty Cariad amongst others and found this one to be the right fit. The team made the transition really easy and he settled in quickly.
Time was spent with him ensuring he was happy.
The staff are amazing with Dad and he looks so well now. Put on a bit of weight and looks healthier. The menu is amazing and the food looks great and Dad is happy. Everywhere is very clean and his clothes are immaculate.
The entertainment is amazing and he's even been for a walk with a member of staff and her Labrador. He's gardening (big garden space), cooking, singing, and lots of other activities.
I am so happy knowing Dad is safe as I live abroad. I visit every few months and I have never felt so content.
A special thanks to the team from me. Everyone has helped my Dad and i am eternally grateful xxx
Reply from Debbie Arthur, Manager at Ty Cariad Dementia Care CentreThis is lovely to hear and i will pass your thanks and comments to the whole team.

Ty Cariad really is a 'house of love'. The staff are kind, friendly and helpful. The home is managed brilliantly and the facilities are great. Mum has settled here really well. She enjoys having her hair done by the hairdresser and activities such as baking and planting. I feel so much peace knowing
mum is being cared for in safe, clean and comfortable surroundings.
Reply from Debbie Arthur, Manager at Ty Cariad Dementia Care CentreThank you for your kind words. I will pass this on to the team.

My husband has been a resident for 6 years now. Over the years I've got to know all the staff and have a great relationship with them all from the managment, nurses, carers, laundry, cleaning and catering staff. They care for my husband as if he was a relative of theirs. Which is so reassuring for
me.
They are now his family and he's happy.
Reply from Debbie Arthur, Manager at Ty Cariad Dementia Care CentreThank you for your kind words. Our residents are our extended family.

My sister has been a resident at Ty Cariad since September 2018. She was initially on Hafan Gele until her condition deteriorated, when she was moved across to Retreat.
The care received has always been first class and never once given any of the family cause for concern. The staff are attentive,
caring and affection with her, despite the hostility and bad temper that often greets them. She is actually very fond of them too when not feeling agitated. I think she sees them all now as her family, probably more so than us, and they definitely appear to know how to handle her various moods to make the most of any given situation. My only disappointment is, due to government rules on minimum width of a door as opposed to the minimum width of a bed, she is, to all intents and purposes, a prisoner in her room. She is unsafe to hoist - not the home's fault, but very frustrating given the wonderful lounge and balcony that she could have enjoyed. I have no hesitation in recommending Ty Cariad

Activities not used because of being bed bound. Some difficulty in getting all staff to understand the need of help in mealtimes - feeding etc. Little connection with management.
Reply from Gillian Rowlands, Home Manager at Merton PlaceThank you for taking the time to leave a review and share your feedback. We are pleased that aspects of your experience were positive, however we are sorry to hear that you felt there were areas where we could have done better. We recognise the importance of meaningful engagement for all residents, including those who are bed-bound, and understand the importance of individual support at mealtimes. We have recently appointed a new Activities Coordinator who is committed to ensuring all residents, including those who are bed-bound, receive meaningful stimulation and engagement tailored to their individual needs. We also appreciate your comments regarding management visibility and communication, as building positive relationships with residents and families is very important to us. We take all feedback seriously and use it as an opportunity to review and improve our service. Thank you

My mother-in-law has advanced Alzheimers and has been resident in Ty Cariad for three months.
I have nothing but praise for the care she receives. Her room and the facilities provided are first class. More importantly though, is the love and care she receives from the staff at the home. They are marvellous.
Debbie and Cathy clearly provide excellent leadership, empathy and enthusiasm, and their team respond accordingly.
In challenging circumstances for my mother-in-law, she couldn't be in better hands!
Reply from Debbie Arthur, Manager at Ty Cariad Dementia Care CentreThank you for your kind words. It is always our pleasure to care for your loved ones. I will pass your wonderful comments on to the team. Thank you.

When the Doctors decided that my wife required nursing home treatment last year I called into Ty Cariad, the Manageress gave me a full tour of Ty Cariad and i met a lot of staff. After my Wife settled in she involved herself in the activities that are available Inc dancing and sing-along with visiting
groups. She also enjoyed a lot of time with the activities coordinator Jasmine. To all the Ty Cariad staff Debbie and Kathy, Jess and all the Nurses and carers (I wish I could name you all) not forgetting the domestic team and reception my sincere thanks to you all for looking after my wife and the support you gave me.

The staff gave tender loving care whilst supporting Grandad. No request was felt like a burden, such as a cup of tea. I highly recommend the home to anyone that requires care. Dignity and respect was always at the forefront of care, the compassion and care was always at its best. I cannot praise the
staff enough. No words can convey how grateful I am that he was safe and looked after to the highest of standards. The reception team are very welcoming and helped in any way they could.

I was extremely pleased with the care my husband received. He was always made comfortable and was always clean. The staff were always friendly, and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble and someone was always on hand to make a cup of tea. The home was always spotlessly clean. I wouldn't hesitate
to recommend this home to anyone. Thank you to all the staff for everything.

The only caveat is new phone charging can be a little inconvenient but am really happy with the care.

My dad spent 3 years and 2 months at Ty Cariad. Prior to his admission I visited lots of care homes to inspect the facilities and talk to the management. No other care home in the area came close to what Ty Cariad could offer in terms of professionalism. patient well-being and facilities, besides the
fact that it is a modern newly purpose-built facility which was spotlessly clean at all times. I found the management to be very approachable, fully understanding of my dad's needs as they specialise and fully understand dementia as that is Ty Cariad's main speciality and focus. The team, particularly the carers, are trained and encouraged to bond with the patients, forming friendships and therapeutic relationships that benefited my dad's outcome and made him very happy there. At no time was anything too much trouble, which in itself is a tribute to the exemplary care offered. We trusted Ty Cariad with the care of our beloved dad and you can trust them too!
Reply from Debbie Arthur, Manager at Ty Cariad Dementia Care CentreThank you for such kind words; they truly mean a lot to the whole team. I will certainly pass this on to the whole team.

My mum moved here in March 2024 and instantly you could tell she was happier. All the staff are amazing and very caring. The food is varied and delicious. It is healthy with lots of vegetables and good quality meat. The activities are regular and interesting. We could not hope for a beer home for Mum.

My wife moved to Ty Cariad on the 27th of December 2023, following a substandard care package at another facility in the area that proved injurious to her well-being and causing her condition to deteriorate to an unacceptable level. She can be difficult at times but the staff from the managers to the
care workers at Ty Cariad demonstrated effective communication which is the cornerstone of quality healthcare. The staff, particularly the carers, bond with the patients. forming therapeutic relationships that benefit patient-centred outcomes, such that my wife and our family members are more than satisfied with the quality of her care, quality of life, and her physical and mental health at this stage of her illness. Moving to Ty Cariad was the best decision we made as a family, and we thank them so much for all they do for my wife and my family; in particular three members of staff in particular who go above and beyond demonstrating a true quality of care service.
