Lydiafield is an excellent care facility, where managers and staff are dedicated to the care and well-being of their residents. The home is spotlessly clean, the food choices are varied and plentiful. Carers treat their residents and their families with respect and dignity. They fundraise independently for extra activities and the activities co-ordinator makes sure opportunities to participate are extended to everyone regardless of ability . She takes particular care to make sure she knows everyone's interests and then she somehow makes it happen.
My mother spent the final four years of her life at Fairknowe House. Mum was always treated with kindness and dignity, she was very well cared for with high standards of cleanliness in both her environment and personal care and, once she had settled in, she thought of Fairknowe House as her home. Mum maintained her independence throughout her time at Fairknowe, with the staff encouraging and assisting her to do this. In mum's final days the compassion, care and love shown to her, and to me and my sister, was exceptional, giving us great deal of comfort at a very difficult time.

On arrival at Fairknowe, things seemed very busy with the gardens being maintained, which meant parking was fairly limited. Once inside, the staff were very polite and approachable, and the manager had tried to update me on my mother's progress since I was last there. All in all, I am very happy with what I experienced and more importantly, my mother is happy at Fairknowe.
I have been visiting Lydiafield regularly in recent weeks and have found managers and staff to be extremely caring, supportive, inclusive, approachable and helpful. They have good assessment and care planning processes in place. The atmosphere within Lydiafield is positive and welcoming. The care home appears clean and well-maintained. Staff and management regularly engage with residents and relatives. The activities coordinator aims to involve as many residents as possible and offers various activities and outings. Everyone is very cheery and it feels like a lovely place to live when being at home is no longer an option.
Relatively small size and number of residents lens to a friendly, family atmosphere. The staff know their residents. The food served looks appealing and well-planned. Good activities are planned for residents, and all the staff are friendly, approachable and communicative. Often difficult to get an answer on the phone. The Resident's lounge is not a good place to meet the family, often loud TV or residents speaking loudly to themselves. No seating for visitors.
Mum has lived at Fairknowe House for a year prior to that she lived with us (she has Alzheimer's Dementia) for 5 years. Mum is so happy content and calm I often wonder if I should have made the difficult decision for her to live at Fairknowe House sooner. Anytime we visit (and we don't give prior notice) she is clean, smiling, well dressed, and her room is spotless as is the rest of the Care Home.
Thank you for your lovely review of our happy home, I am delighted that your mum has settled in well and is happy with our services as we continue to strive towards continuing to provide excellence in the care we provide, your comments are very much appreciated. Kind regards
Telephones are an issue, particularly for relatives who cannot visit on a regular basis. Telephones need to be working!
The excellent facilities and special events which are made available for all to see are a bonus.
My 94-year-old aunt recently passed away at Lydiafield Care Home and our family were delighted with the excellent care she enjoyed whilst in care. The pre-admission assessment conducted by the Care Home Manager was very thorough and responsive to the needs and aspirations of my aunt. The physical facility itself was well-maintained and kept clean. My aunt, although she ate very little as her needs were low, was always very complimentary of the food provided describing many of the dishes served as "just like home". The staff genuinely cared for my aunt and they frequently spent time with her checking not only her physical wellbeing but also her mental wellbeing and mood. My aunt frequently called them her angels and indeed when she passed away her final words were to thank the carers attending to her. When we cleared my aunt's room after she passed, a number of the carers came to pay their respects and to check if there was anything they could do to assist us. A lovely place.
My mother moved into the Fairknowe House Care Home in March this year. She has settled in quickly which in my opinion is due to the excellent care and attention she receives daily by the staff. I've seen a very positive improvement in her overall in the short time she has been a resident. The staff have various activities etc. Even styling Mums haor in the mornings even though they are very busy. The staff at Fairknowe are wonderful.
I find all the staff very helpful and they keep the residents all occupied every day. I am extremely happy with the care my friend receives from all the staff also it’s a very pleasant home to enter, always a friendly face and it is extremely clean.
Hi Sandra, thank you for your positive and encouraging review of Fairknowe House.
When my Dad took up residence at Fairknowe Care Home he was a medically ill, underweight and confused man. I am really pleased that he has improved during his time in Fairknowe and is now quite content, comfortable, well cared for and relatively healthy for his age. All the Fairknowe staff are friendly and caring and they make an effort to get to know all the residents and their families personally. My Dad also enjoys the food at Fairknowe.
