My Mother has stayed in the carehome for over 2 years now. We are very happy with the care she recieves. The staff, accomodation and the activities are excellent. She enjoys her time there very much and prefers it to staying in her house which is only a short walk away.
Reply from Brodie Nichol, Director at MuirfieldThank you for your kind feedback. We're so pleased to hear that your mother is enjoying her time at the care home and feels so comfortable there. It's lovely to know you're happy with the care, staff, and activities. Your comments mean a lot to us all. Best wishes.

Dad has been a resident for the last 18 months. He is well cared for and safe. With someone with dementia this is important for us as a family to know this. With his declining cognitive skills the staff are very caring and patient with him even though dad can be extremely challenging. The staff are
always welcoming with a smile and greeting. The menus are varied and they will accommodate residents where possible if that meal on offer is not to their liking. The activities are based around residents preferences so might not suit everyone and they have a minibus to take residents on outings. These are offered frequently. Patient reviews take place and should anything occur they are in contact with the family.
Reply from Julie Kennedy, Marketing Manager at MuirfieldThank you very much for your review and your high overall score. Our team will be delighted. It is so pleasing to hear that you feel your Dad is so well cared for and is safe. We know how important this is to our residents and their families. With our best wishes.

My father has vascular dementia and has been a resident in Muirfield Nursing home for four years now. The staff have always taken good care of him and are so kind and friendly. When he was recently a bit off colour, the staff took great care to keep the family informed about his health, and what progress
he was making. They are always supportive of the family bond and are very approachable. Dad is now back to his normal self and doing well.
Reply from Julie Kennedy, Marketing Manager at MuirfieldThank you for your feedback. It is so lovely to hear that you feel your father is well taken care of, and the communication is good. Great to know too that your dad is back to his normal self! Best wishes.

My mum moved into Muirfield a few months ago having previously lived alone in her home. It was a big decision, but I would like to thank all of the team at Muirfield for going above and beyond, to welcome my mum and us into the Muirfield family.
All members of staff, from the front desk, to the
office and management, to the individual carers and activities team are so warm, welcoming and easy to deal with. My mum is being very well cared for which is very much appreciated, and this has allowed me to go back to being daughter rather than carer. Thank you!
Reply from Julie Kennedy, Marketing Manager at MuirfieldThank you for your review. We really understand the difficult decision for your mum and your family, and we are therefore so pleased that you all feel welcomed, with your mum being so well cared for. Best wishes.

My husband has been in Muirfield for over 3 years now, and I can honestly say, that the care he receives from all members of staff is fantastic! The activities that are on offer for residents is brilliant, catering for everyone's needs. The staff are always so helpful, and not only to my husband,
but to me as well. I feel I can talk to them at any point I am in, and they are always happy to listen. Nothing is a bother for them. Keep up the great work and thank you for all do for husband and our family!

My mother somewhat reluctantly agreed to go into Muirfield for a period of respite care while my sister was abroad.
In advance of my mother going into Muirfield I was invited to a tour of the premises and facilities available. I was impressed with what was on offer and also with the general atmosphere
and ambience I witnessed.
Within a couple of weeks my mother was asking if her stay could be made permanent. She is very complimentary about the staff, and is particularly enthusiastic about how helpful they are.
She appears a more contented individual since moving into Muirfield, happy with the meals provided, as well as the varied programme of events, and opportunities for interaction with other residents.
Both my sister and I are delighted to have made the arrangement permanent.
Reply from Brodie Nichol, Director at MuirfieldThank you for your lovely feedback. We're so pleased to hear how well your mother has settled at Muirfield and that she quickly felt at home. It's wonderful to know she's enjoying the meals, activities, and the company of others, and that you and your sister feel confident and happy with the decision. Your kind words are greatly appreciated by the whole team. Best wishes.

My mum recently left us after two and a half years living in Fidra. From admission to end of her life every single member of Fidra staff were excellent and were focused on making each day as it could be for my mum. As her dementia got worse this got hard. But all of the staff did this maintaining mum's
dignity and respect. They continued to see her as an individual with a disease and helped us understand her disease and gave us support and insight to best help mum. The garden, activities, food and reception staff are brilliant. A special thank you to the staff on The Law Floor who showed such care and humanity to mum as she became more confused. I couldn't have asked for better.
Reply from Julie Kennedy, Marketing Manager at Fidra HouseWe are so sorry for your loss, and appreciate you providing feedback at such a difficult time. My father has been a resident now for several months at Muirfield. He was very nervous to move in to a care home but has taken to Muirfield and the wonderful staff like a duck to water. Everyone from the front desk, to his individual carers have been amazing. We are very happy with the level of care

My brother was cared for in Fidra for over 3 years, principally because of physical health issues and the need for personal care. During his time there the staff treated him with respect, kindness and dignity. What really made the difference was that staff took time to understand him as the person he
had been before being so unwell, and could tap into his interests with shared banter and laughter. In the few weeks before he died it was particularly difficult for him, and the family. The staff responded to our queries and concerns with patience and professionalism, and worked well with the local community health teams to ensure he could stay in Fidra rather then go through the discomfort and upheaval of a hospital admission. We couldn't have asked for more.
Reply from Brodie Nichol, Director at Fidra HouseThank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback. We are truly touched to hear your kind words about the care and support your brother received during his time at Fidra. It means a great deal to know that the team were able to provide comfort, dignity and understanding both to him and to your family. Your appreciation will be shared with everyone involved. Best wishes.

My wife, whose memory has failed, moved into Fidra House 5 months ago, and we have been delighted with the care and attention provided for her. The home is well managed and is very well equipped, it has excellent communication, facilities and a delightful garden. The care and nursing staff are well
trained and skilled, and there is a welcoming and friendly atmosphere throughout Fidra House. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff to offer. Her room is clean, well furnished and comfortable, and she has accordingly accepted the transition from home to care without difficulty. A range of activities are provided and notified in advance, including trips and wheelchair adapted buses, musical events and monthly religious services, and my wife, within her limitations, has appreciated participation in these events. My family and I made the right decision in our choice of Fidra House, and we would warmly recommend it to others.
Reply from Julie Kennedy, Marketing Manager at Fidra HouseThank you so much for your kind words. Since my mother came to stay at Fidra back in December 2024, I have found the home to be a very homely place for my mum. The home is in a quiet back drop off the Dirleton road, surrounded with trees and well maintained gardens, and communal areas. The rooms are spacious, with en-suite facilities and
each room has wall mounted T.V's for everyone. Dining areas and lounges are kept clean and tidy and also offer TV, music and various activities everyday. All the staff are very well trained and treat both residents and families alike with dignity and respect showing compassion and always friendly and welcoming. Residents are offered to take part in away days in the minibus on a weekly basis, sometimes twice a week. Families have the opportunity to use the Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle for private family days out or to attend appointments, which I think is a fantastic asset to the home and residents. Residents can choose meals from a varied nutritional menu each day. I wish I could say more.
Reply from Julie Kennedy, Marketing Manager at Fidra HouseWe are so pleased to hear that you have found us to provide a very homely place for your mum - and that you have complimented our facilities, friendliness, and cleanliness. The professional medical and auxiliary care are excellent; my relative is very well looked after and is very happy and reassured in the home. Sometimes, communication with management and staff can be complicated for us because we don't live locally and visit once a month. Hopefully, since pointing this

It is always difficult to make the decision to put a loved one into a care home We have been married for 61 years so it is a huge change to live apart for both of us Thankfully it was the best thing we could have done. It is a great relief to me to see her being extremely well looked after and cared
for in the home. I cannot fault the care she is getting. All the staff do a first rate job, in addition keeping me advised of her medical needs when they change, which can be daily. I cannot find fault with this Home knowing that my wife is being very well cared for in a safe, comfortable environment.
