Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum was at Rosehall for around 18 months. In all that time, mum was treated with dignity and respect. I watched the staff work hard in the fist few weeks to ensure mum was as orientated and well cared for at a time that was particularly tough for her, while she settled in. The care moved on from
constant respect and care to watching the carers display love and tenderness for mum. They worked hard taking care of her basic needs but so much more. Activities were regular, plentiful appropriate and enriching. They were a good range of types of activities so that they catered for all residents needs. Carers spent time with the residents in between care activities to ensure they were stimulated and loved. Not only was mum cared for but so we're we as a family. We were kept informed of any difficulties mum faced and also challenges mum had overcome with the staffs support.
Any suggestions of improvements in care or services was well considered and adopted when appropriate. 10/5 stars. Xxx

Our Mum lived at Rosehall for 18 months before she passed away. From the moment she arrived the staff supported her to remain as independent as possible. The staff always went the extra mile to maintain her health and spirit and genuinely cared about her and us. Our Mum was always treated with dignity
and respect. Rosehall is how a care home should be and we are eternally grateful to them.

We can't thank the staff and residents enough for welcoming Mum to Rosehall. The staff are kind, patient and build strong relationships with residents. They took the time to understand Mum, her life, things that are important to her, her likes and dislikes, and got to know us as a family too.

Rosehall

truly changed our perception of care home life. Mum was engaged in various activities including balloon badminton, making a memory box, enjoyed a tea dance, karaoke, and church service, and had her hair and nails done. She always raved about how great the staff were.

Mum came into the care home as a younger resident. She likes 'a blether' and to feel useful. Staff adapted to her needs, often chatting and having banter throughout the home, and involving her simple tasks to give her purpose.

The care home itself is lovely; bright, welcoming, with beautiful gardens, large bedrooms and a great day room with lots of natural light. Thank you for your kindness and taking great care of Mum.

Reply from Nicola Thomson, Home Manager at RosehallThank you so much for your thoughtful and kind words. It means a great deal that she felt valued and that her needs and preferences were met. We have only positive experiences with Rosehall. Mum went into the home in January 2022. The staff are genuinely kind, and caring and always have the resident's welfare at heart. The home exudes a lovely warm and friendly atmosphere.
Our mum is so happy and content at Rosehall and they have been able
to get her to take part in activities and outside visits.
The staff are always available to give updates and discuss how mum is doing as well as keeping us up to date with changes in medication etc.
On behalf of the family, I would like to thank them for all their support throughout as they have made what could be a stressful time stress-free.
Thanks again.
Reply from Nicola Thomson, Home Manager at RosehallThank you for your positive comments about the care provided for your mum. Northwood House is a good caring/nursing home. Where the staff and management work well together to provide excellent care to residents. The home is always presentable, care in cleaning and odour free. Manager is easily at hand on phone or email or in person. The nurses are friendly and informative.
The carers are cheerful and friendly.

The care my aunt received at Northwood over four years has been exemplary. We particularly appreciated the person-centred nature of her care. As a retired senior nurse, staff preserved her dignity and encouraged her to speak about her experiences, even involving her in sitting in on staff training as
this was an environment where she was very comfortable. As carers staying a distance away, we have been kept well-informed by staff and involved through regular Family and Friends Meetings. There are plenty of activities and it is a warm, happy and positive place. We have dealt with several care homes with other family members. They are not all the same. I would wholeheartedly recommend the care at Northwood.
Reply from Annette Gillies, Manager at Northwood HouseThank you so much for the kind words. Your aunt was always interested in what nursing training we had and was lovely to see her face light up when we were talking nurse nurse-orientated things with her. It's been a pleasure to have looked after her and your involvement in her care too.

My mum has been a resident in Northwood for just under 2 years and we are delighted with the service which is kind caring and very welcoming.
My mum has received the highest standard of care and really importantly love and affection in a family environment.
Staff are very knowledgeable and go above
and beyond for the residents.
Entertainment is consistent and varied with outside agencies such as hairdressing and podiatry being a constant.
We are so happy with the choice of Northwood and so is Mum.
We would highly recommend it.

Up till her passing, my mother received fantastic care and really loved staying in Northwood.
The activities kept her alert and she enjoyed the singing and exercise classes most of all.
In her final days, the manager and the staff treated Mum with kindness, care and dignity. I cannot thank them enough
for their care and support for the family.
Reply from Annette Gillies, Manager at Northwood HouseIt was a pleasure to have the company of your mum within the home, she was a very bright flame who is sorely missed. Caring, thoughtful staff, not only to residents but to the families. Lots of interesting activities both within the setting and outwith, ie visits to ponies, afternoon teas, fetes, games evenings etc. Residents are able to have bespoke care, can dine in their own rooms if they wish from time to time,
and can choose whether or not to attend activities. There is always some interaction with residents by staff which is good to see. The manager holds family and friends meetings which, although I have only attended two, it is clear that, if there is a problem, she is keen to hear in order to rectify it. Food seems to be great too, not only the meals but also the cakes etc in between which always goes down well with my mum. Care was taken, too, with regard to seating at meals which is great. Seeing photos of Mum on their social media page is lovely to see especially as I don't live nearby.
Reply from Annette Gillies, Manager at Northwood HouseThanks for the lovely comments. We are pleased that the hard work our staff put into meaningful activities is appreciated by families as much as the residents. We're glad that the meetings and social media page helps you keep in touch with your mum.

My Mum suffers from mixed dementia and has done it for a number of years. It was important to keep her in her own home for as long as I possibly could but it became clear that this was no longer a feasible option and needed care. It was an incredibly difficult decision to make, made worse by the fact
that I live over 450 miles away in London. Having researched various homes none of them had the welcoming and homely feel that Craig-en-Goyne has. From the minute you step through the door, there’s a warmness from all the staff which has helped give me the peace of mind that my Mum would be well cared for and looked upon as part of the Craig-en-Goyne family. Whilst it’s very early days as my Mum hasn’t been there long, the staff are doing everything they can to help her settle into her new home and also helping me with the adjustment by keeping in regular contact and assuring me to call whenever l want to find out how she’s getting on. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Craig-en-Goyne.

My Mum has been a resident for nearly three years and is settled and well cared for. She is always well turned out and her clothes are well looked after. The staff are all so friendly and are very kind and attentive to my Mum. Northwood House always seems a happy, calm place which means the residents
are happy. My Mum doesn’t want to join in any activities, apart from the exercise classes and chooses to remain in her room and this is respected.
I always feel welcome and able to talk to a member of staff or the manager about any concerns I have. Thank you to all the team for doing an excellent job.

This is a lovely care home. Despite the increased demands on staff due to the Covid pandemic, they have maintained high standards of care and compassion for their residents. The house has a welcoming atmosphere and when visiting I am often met by the sound of hearty laughter coming from both staff and
residents alike. At Northwood House Care Home the staff genuinely care. There are a variety of activities for residents to get involved in if they wish. The food is exceptional and there is plenty of it, special warming plates are supplied to residents who may take a little longer to eat than others ensuring that they get to enjoy this lovely food at its best. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to others and over the past year I have done so on a number of occasions.
