Whenever we visit the staff are always welcoming & happy to chat and tell us the latest info re my brother (also when we phone). We see how staff deal with a variety of situations whilst we are onsite, always with care & empathy. The rooms are always clean & David is still a person to them, not a patient.

Moving both my Gran and Grandad into a new care home was a daunting and emotional experience for our family, but from the moment they arrived at Gilwood Lodge, the staff made us feel completely welcome and reassured.The care, compassion, and kindness shown by every member of the team have been truly exceptional. They took the time to get to know both my grandparents and always made them feel valued, comfortable, and at home.Sadly, we recently lost my Gran, which has been one of the most difficult times our family has ever faced.Everyone at Gilwood Lodge went above and beyond to support us. They handled everything with such dignity, sensitivity, and compassion, always keeping my Gran's best interests at heart. Since losing my Gran, the team have continued to be amazing with my Grandad. They have kept an extra eye on him.Knowing he is surrounded by such caring people gives our family great peace of mind. We will always be grateful for the love and kindness shown by everyone. Both of my parents have recently moved to Gillwood Lodge from other care homes. My dad moved first, he has Parkinsons and needs 24hr care. Everyone at Gilwood has welcomed him and treated him with care and respect. They let him be himself and he is so happy there. My mum moved in shortly after after she broke her hip, she also had dementia. She moved in after a long stint in hospital as she now needed 24hr care. Again everyone at Gilwood gave her such live and care. My mum was there for 6 weeks when she passed away, the staff were amazing. At my mums funeral some staff came including the manager to support us as a family. And they continue to care for dad with such love and care. We as a family cannot thank them enough for everything they have done and continue to do.

My dad has been placed in this care home in January 26. The staff have been nothing but fantastic. They have listen to our thoughts and opinions and included us in every aspect of my dad's care as he is unable to advocate for himself. The home manager has kept us updated and contacted other professionals when we have asked her to. I'm glad we chose this care home, they are nothing but helpful.

I cannot thank or praise Michelle or her staff more and will continue to appreciate everything they do regarding caring for mum.

My dad was transferred to Gilwood Lodge from Hospital. To say he wasn't keen on becoming a resident of any nursing home would be an understatement. I cannot praise the nursing home and their staff highly enough. They allowed him to settle in at his own pace and were extremely considerate concerning his initial reluctance. Their care, compassion and continuous social interaction with my dad have helped him fully settle. He has said to me on numerous occasions that he can't imagine being anywhere else now. He compares it to a five star hotel. If there was an option to award more than five stars I would do it in a heartbeat. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the home to anyone. They say staff make the environment and it couldn't be better than at Gilwood Lodge.

Facilities and room and food also spot on. I'm so happy he's there and he is very settled too and enjoys it.

My brother has made friends in the home and seems happy.

My husband was taken to Gilwood Lodge in November 2023. He had challenging behaviour which they managed with expertise. He had complex medical needs which they also met with expertise. Both my husband and myself were totally supported by both management and staff. I cannot thank them enough for their love and support. He sadly passed away on 6th February, his passing was peaceful thanks to the diligence of the staff around us.

I would like to put in words the wonderful care this nursing home gives to my lovely mum. She has advanced Alzheimer's dementia and her illness is slowly getting the better of her sadly but the love and care of the team at Gilwood Lodge never fails her. The professionalism and dedication is second to none. Currently, she is in bed a little under the weather but she is turned hourly and has company sat with her making sure she is 100% comfortable. I myself am going through a tough time in my life but the management team are there for me too. They are a well-run, well-managed family of carers. Bravo!

This is the third care home for my brother and my heart goes out to them as for the first time I am happy, content and so very pleased my brother has found somewhere he can call home.

The home is in need of a little updating, but I believe this is underway.

I have been visiting my mother now for 3 years and find the nursing care very caring and professional. However, over these years the receptionist has never said Hello or even acknowledged myself and my siblings... to the point of being ignorant and rude (at every single visit we have made). Surely when visiting a loved one in this kind of environment, a welcome or a smile/acknowledgement would help to make a difficult visit for many more pleasant.

Having to place a loved one in a nursing home is a heart-wrenching thing to do. After visiting several homes, we were told about Gillwood Lodge and straight away it felt right. The staff were excellent. Straight talking and very easy to deal with. Dad had some very challenging behaviour and the early days weren't easy but the manager and her team stuck by us and after a short period of time Dad settled in. He still can be very challenging at times but the team here are amazing with him. The communication from everyone is excellent and everyone knows who my dad is. I get told stories about him every time I visit and the team here definitely lightens a far-from-ideal situation. They've taken a massive amount of pressure off of Mum by looking after Dad the way they do. Thanks to all of you. Keep up the good work.

From what I’ve seen the Staff are always polite and helpful with residents and visitors. The Lodge is clean and tidy and the Residents are happy and well cared for. Carers and nursing staff all do their very best to keep the residents comfortable and happy as do the Cleaning and kitchen staff.

Superb nursing home which provide excellent health care not only to my grandfather but all the service users residing here.

Gilwood Lodge has been an excellent help to my grandfather providing all his needs within the home. My grandfather has always been happy with the home and the staff, he often tells me how he "gets treated like a king".

With Covid-19 ongoing, my visits have always been facilitated in the most safest way for me and my grandfather. The management have always updated myself and my family with new policies regarding covid and any other issues regarding my grandfather. I can not fault the management and staff in any way, my grandfather sees all the staff members as extended family they are perfect with him.

Management keep all their staff up to date with training and the ongoing Covid-19. The management and staff have always kept my grandfather safe and ensure that my visits are 100% safe when I visit. I want to thank all staff I couldn't ask for more.
