Staff fabricated the truth, lots of Agency staff was being used and they were often in unsafe numbers. Senior Nurse Assistant perceived herself to be qualified which resulted in neglect and difficulties in communication. Family were not informed of any illnesses which resulted in my Fathers quick demise!! Staff forgot to give him his Oxygen, personal care was limited. Complaints were not acted upon until my Father passed away, despite multiple complaints being submitted. Rooms are sweltering hot in summer and staff do nothing to make this more comfortable. Staff were observed using foul language about residents. The manager was dismissive. Documentation was poor!

My husband Phil spent the last 10 months of his life here. I was content to know he was treated with dignity and kindness from people who that mattered to.

The staff members we interact with most frequently are excellent.

Over the years, several members of my family have required social care. All homes have been high quality, but pale into insignificance when compared to High Peak. Cannot speak highly enough about all the staff. They are professional, caring and are a real credit to the company. I have no hesitation in recommending High Peak to anyone requiring first class social care for a loved one.

They have a variety of meals with choice. The staff go above and beyond when it's a resident's birthday, Easter, Christmas, providing extra activities including buffet and singers, etc. Weekly entertainment - dominoes, trips out to bingo.

My dad has been at Downshaw Lodge since August 2025. Since being here, my dad has been the most content and happy. I've seen him in a long time. The care he receives is excellent and the activities team are brilliant. The home keeps me updated when necessary and I have peace of mind that he is being well looked after.

The staff at Downshaw Lodge look after my brother-in-law. I am very happy with the care provided. The communication from the senior team on the residential unit is excellent. The unit is always clean and tidy on arrival. The team know how to approach my brother-in-law's complex needs very well. I am forever grateful for the care and dignity that Downshaw Lodge provided.

Everyone is very kind, caring and respectful, lots of patience and always happy to help with all matters. Partner is always clean, well-dressed and looks good. Manager and staff all informative and keep me up to date with appointments, activities, etc... My partner is eating well and enjoying his food. Lovely place for him to be.

I would highly highly recommend Millfield to anyone this place has been amazing my nanna passed away 3 days ago and was a resident at Millfield the care and compassion from the staff was incredible the support they shown us as a family the way they had cared for my nanna throughout was just nothing short of amazing we will forever been indebted to Millfield it felt like my nannas home and we didn't want to leave we have never had that connection before to any other care home big shout out to all the staff on the Pilsworth unit you guys are heroes every single staff member there have a heart of gold please please if anyone is thinking of where to let a loved one to go live my nanna was nursing and dementia and I would hand on my heart advice anyone to go to Millfield

My father William has just spent 6 weeks in High Peak, and as a son I can't fault in any way. The staff was lovely and couldn't do enough for him. The change in himself is unreal.

Both seniors that looked after my brother are amazing. He seems happy here.

The staff are very friendly, very approachable. Outside communication excellent, e.g. G.P. mental health care.

Thank you to everyone at Downshaw, from the receptionist, cleaners, handyman, entertainers, nurses, carers and management. It is the people that make a home what it is.

However, recent management changes have given me optimism for the future.

Overly all I'm happy with my dad's care. Especially his medical side as soon as he is poorly medical attention is sort out immediately and I'm kept in touch throughout.

Came to visit with his son, he seems very happy here and has become more sociable since being here. His last home he wouldn't leave his room but this home he mingles with other residents. He says the staff are all friendly and he gets on well with them all. Very well looked after and very clean environment.

I am very happy with the care of my partner, and he seems very contended and enjoying his food. The decor and surroundings of the home are great, exceptionally clean, and bright. His room is spacious and ensuite, and he has his own television. The activities are well planned, and he likes to watch even if he cannot join in everything and particularly enjoys the singing. My husband entered Downshaw Lodge directly from hospital following a very long stay there. Within 24 hours he was like a different man, eating all his meals, more alert to his surroundings. From day one the staff have always been attentive to his complex needs, and all staff are very friendly and always available if needed. For the first time in a very long time we as a family feel more settled and confident. What we thought would be a daunting experience for him and our family was made much easier.

I really appreciate the communication I receive regarding my uncle's care. The staff I have met are very warm and welcoming, and I am confident that my uncle is receiving outstanding care.
