I am very happy with the care my brother receives, the staff are help ful and are willing to assist if any help is needed, I am pleased with management also, as they listen if I do have any concerns.

All staff are excellent at dealing with my dad and his daily needs. They understand what he likes and dislikes and contact me with any issues he has immediately. My dad also likes to have a laugh and joke with the staff which is great to see.

All the staff within the home are so nice and caring towards my father and us, my father can be quite difficult and they are so patient and understanding, he has improved so much since coming to stay here

My Dad has resided at downshaw lodge for the past 2 years and the care he recieves has been fantastic! I cannot speak highly enough of the care and every single member of staff who look after my dad. The staff keep us regularly updated, and make us feel part of his care journey at all times. My dad is happy, comfortable and looked after. As a family knowing he is well cared for gives us such peace of mind. Thank you all so much.

my father in law appears healthy and happy at Downshaw Lodge. He enjoys the food and thinks all the staff are wonderful.

Overall everyone is very considerate, caring, helpful and go the extra mile to make sure resident is cared for and their needs are met.

Whenever we visit the staff are always welcoming & happy to chat and tell us the latest info re my brother (also when we phone). We see how staff deal with a variety of situations whilst we are onsite, always with care & empathy. The rooms are always clean & David is still a person to them, not a patient.

Moving both my Gran and Grandad into a new care home was a daunting and emotional experience for our family, but from the moment they arrived at Gilwood Lodge, the staff made us feel completely welcome and reassured.The care, compassion, and kindness shown by every member of the team have been truly exceptional. They took the time to get to know both my grandparents and always made them feel valued, comfortable, and at home.Sadly, we recently lost my Gran, which has been one of the most difficult times our family has ever faced.Everyone at Gilwood Lodge went above and beyond to support us. They handled everything with such dignity, sensitivity, and compassion, always keeping my Gran's best interests at heart. Since losing my Gran, the team have continued to be amazing with my Grandad. They have kept an extra eye on him.Knowing he is surrounded by such caring people gives our family great peace of mind. We will always be grateful for the love and kindness shown by everyone. Both of my parents have recently moved to Gillwood Lodge from other care homes. My dad moved first, he has Parkinsons and needs 24hr care. Everyone at Gilwood has welcomed him and treated him with care and respect. They let him be himself and he is so happy there. My mum moved in shortly after after she broke her hip, she also had dementia. She moved in after a long stint in hospital as she now needed 24hr care. Again everyone at Gilwood gave her such live and care. My mum was there for 6 weeks when she passed away, the staff were amazing. At my mums funeral some staff came including the manager to support us as a family. And they continue to care for dad with such love and care. We as a family cannot thank them enough for everything they have done and continue to do.

The staff members we interact with most frequently are excellent.

My dad has been at Downshaw Lodge since August 2025. Since being here, my dad has been the most content and happy. I've seen him in a long time. The care he receives is excellent and the activities team are brilliant. The home keeps me updated when necessary and I have peace of mind that he is being well looked after.

The staff at Downshaw Lodge look after my brother-in-law. I am very happy with the care provided. The communication from the senior team on the residential unit is excellent. The unit is always clean and tidy on arrival. The team know how to approach my brother-in-law's complex needs very well. I am forever grateful for the care and dignity that Downshaw Lodge provided.

Everyone is very kind, caring and respectful, lots of patience and always happy to help with all matters. Partner is always clean, well-dressed and looks good. Manager and staff all informative and keep me up to date with appointments, activities, etc... My partner is eating well and enjoying his food. Lovely place for him to be.

My dad has been placed in this care home in January 26. The staff have been nothing but fantastic. They have listen to our thoughts and opinions and included us in every aspect of my dad's care as he is unable to advocate for himself. The home manager has kept us updated and contacted other professionals when we have asked her to. I'm glad we chose this care home, they are nothing but helpful.

Thank you to everyone at Downshaw, from the receptionist, cleaners, handyman, entertainers, nurses, carers and management. It is the people that make a home what it is.

However, recent management changes have given me optimism for the future.
