What an amazing time my Mam has had on her respite care
With a lot of uncertainty of going into the home in her words "she would do it again"
The whole experience from start to end was dealt with the compassion & care from the whole team as if I was doing it myself.
Visitors could come anytime & the activities kept her stimulated, so time went fast
Her room was so lovely & a big 10/10 for the food
A massive thank you from the bottom of our heart for making a week stay so enjoyable

A special thanks to Laura & Rose for sorting at such short notice

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review.

We're so pleased to hear that your mam had such a positive respite stay with us, especially when it came with so much uncertainty beforehand. Hearing her say she'd do it again is one of the nicest compliments we could...

My Dad arrived in Kirklands in March this year and couldn't have been better received. Initially he was wary but was so welcomed, he settled very quickly and is very happy, as am I.
So very impressed with staff, service, care and friendliness.
Staff always happy, smiling, polite and considerate. Always happy to help and answer any questions.
They always say hello and are just brilliant with my Dad.
Food (very important to my Dad) excellent. Very tasty and more than enough!

It's very much a home from home and I really couldn't be any happier; can't praise the staff enough. Feels like they've all become family friends. What more can I ask for! If I could give 10 stars, I certainly would.

Life long friend being resident at Highfield House, Greenbank, Whitehaven for the last 3 years. I am a regular visitor. My friend Vera was not well when she was admitted to Highfield, but has thrived ever since with care and love given to her. Also loves her food and eats very well. Vera is 92 on the 12th of May and doing very well.

My mother has used St Georges for respite care when we are away and cannot provide a backstop beyond visiting carers. St Georges has been ideal. Close enough to her home that friends can visit and take her out, and very welcoming and caring.

St Georges is clean, and staff all attentive and conscientious even when under pressure. The rooms she has had may not be particulalry large and the old house part is just that - old and narrow corridors. The lift was tired and could be recaltitrent! However, given the building issues the sense of overall care and lightness of touch was great. Others locally speak highly of St Georges too.

St George's is not a care home it is a home from home and I have seen on every visit that all of the residents are treated with kindness & respect. It's a lovely place to visit. The atmosphere is fun and they arrange so much for the residents to do such as animal visits, making things, gardening, activity day & outings. I always laugh that he has more going on in his day than I do in mine. It's a wonderful place x

The home is great. Since she arrived her overall health and wellbeing has improved significantly. The home and all the staff are fantastic. They have gone out of their way to make her welcome and comfortable. The activities and entertainment are so good. On arrival she was very unwell - now she is very well. As a point of improvement, it would be good if self funding residents are provided with full ensuite facilities, this is proportionate to the cost per month (in my opinion). Keep up the fantastic service.

On arrival I received a warm welcome and was given help with my wheelchair and walking frame. The room was tastefully decorated but uncomfortably hot. I asked for a fan but this was not forthcoming. Even with the window open I was perspiring. It would have been nice to have had a television but this was denied. The food was adequate except for the last evening meal which was inedible. Overall, the caring personnel were attentive and friendly but were mostly rushed having to respond to the continuous attendance calls, the bell being located directly outside my door, which I could not close because of the heat.

My mam arrived yesterday, on first entering, the staff were very welcoming and tentative to our emotional status, our beloved mother needed more care than we could provide for her. The home is very homely, clean and everything we hoped for her, we were treated with dignity and empathy, and this has helped us during our painful transition. Thank you Highfield House.

My dad had 2 weeks of respite care, he was slightly apprehensive before going in, but from the minute he walked in was made to feel very welcome!
The premises were very clean, comfortable and bright. Nothing was a trouble for the staff.

My mother came into St George's Residential Home for 2 weeks respite care but both my mother, myself and brothers were that impressed she decided she'd like to make the move permanent.

Thank you for all the help and care given to her. She loves her hairdressing days.

Every member of staff are caring, compassionate and empathetic. They all made me feel welcome and communicate with me all the time. They have been an absolute godsend and the care they have shown both of us is excellent. I will always be eternally grateful to every single one of them including cleaners and volunteers also. They all have a natural gift with all the residents especially the confused with dementia. Even though it's a challenging job, thus always have a smile on their face. I feel at ease knowing everyone at St George's Care Home. All staff.
Thank you for everything you have done for me any mu mum. Will always be eternally grateful and really appreciate it. Every member of staff has been caring, compassionate and engaging with all of us. None of you lose your patience. Such a challenging job and you are all cheerful even if you are having a tough day. I have seen how you all engage with residents and make them feel at home. Most of residents are very confused and the skills you all use are a gift, you either have it or you don't and all staff I have seen have. Everyone of you has been so patient, gentle and empathetic and encouraged my mum. Always feel welcome when I visit and see for my self that she is well cared for which puts me at ease. Also, thank you for doing things like bringing animals in, doing arts and crafts, people who play music and people who bring school children in. Thank you to the volunteers who spend time with my mum and other volunteers who play games and interact with Mum. I also want to thank you to the cleaners for keeping the home clean and for serving the lunches.
You all work well as a team and should know you are all valued. Thank you to all of you for communicating with each other and other professionals and especially my mum and me. Thank you to the manager for tunning such a fantastic home for residents you should be proud of your team. Thank you for everything. I wish you all the best and wishing everyone of you good health now and in the coming year.

Please take care everyone and thanks so much for letting me have a break and the support I was shown when I was so unwell.

On first arrival, we were greeted by one of the members of staff. After initial introductions, my sister & I were invited into the Manager's office while Mum was invited to go down and have a cup of tea. While in the office we were given a full explanation of how the home was run. This included all the safety aspects that the home ran. We were encouraged to ask questions or raise any matters that we were unsure of.
Following this meeting, my sister & I were given a full tour of the home and its grounds. This was very good (as my sister & I left we both commented 1) how clean the home was 2) the friendliness of the staff 3) we had made the right choice.
We finalised any remaining paperwork and prepared to leave after a final chat with Mum. She seemed quite content, the staff reassured us they would keep a close eye on her, with it being her first night.

As we left the home I said it's very good, I will be booking myself in next - we had a laugh.

Mum has been a resident of St George's for three and a half years and in that time her general health and well-being have improved dramatically. The level of care and attention the residents receive is excellent and the activities that are organised are engaging and fun. Recently Mum went on a trip to Ravenglass with a trip on Lal Ratty which she enjoyed thoroughly and we were visiting recently when a folk group were playing which again really cheered Mum up. We are regularly contacted to ensure that we have no concerns about Mum's care and are always contacted immediately should there be an issue with Mum's health in any way. Mum always tells us how good the food is and how well cared for she is when we are visiting. Mum feels safe both physically and psychologically which is a great comfort to us.
