I visit my Father regularly and am always happy with the care provided. All staff are caring, respectful and their interaction with the residents is admirable. Due to his needs several homes refused to take my Father, social services helped find this home. I do have to travel a long distance to see
him and was initially concerned if this home could meet his care needs when so many other homes had refused him. I very quickly realised that I had no reason to be concerned and am confident that he receiving the best care possible.
Reply from Tanya Nesling, Operations Director at Meddyg Care Dementia Homes - PorthmadogThank you for your lovely comments and it is our privilege to be able to support your Father in our Porthmadog Home.

Meddyg Care took over the running of Richmond House in Oct 2025. In Jan 2026 they terminated my mums placement without justifiable cause in my opinion, they were effectively making her homeless. Mum is 83 with Dementia and has called Richmond home since my dad passed away 2 years ago. Mum never had
any issues with the previous management.
Our experience of Meddyg care has not been a positive one on any front. I do not intend to rant on this website, I just wanted my views to be expressed so other potential residents can have as many opinions as possible to help inform their care decisions. I would not recommend Meddyg Care to anyone looking for a care provider.
My concerns around this service have been raised with the appropriate governing care bodies.
Reply from Kevin Edwards, Director at Meddyg Care Dementia Home - RhylGiven our historical reviews and feedback, clearly this is not reflective of the service we provide at Meddyg Care - Rhyl. We are unable to provide an accurate and true reflection of the circumstances surrounding this review, as carehome.co.uk will not allow us to post this response, despite being able to provide evidence to support our position. We are disappointed in carehome.co.uk as they are not supportive of the customer who ultimately pays the bills and therefore we will not be renewing our membership agreement with them across our care group.

My wife has been in Richmond House since 1 May. She has been well received by the staff but is finding it difficult to settle. She is very restless and finding it difficult to settle. She is very restless and constantly wanting to come home- sundowning! The only time she smiles is when a visitor brings
in a family dog to see another resident. She is kept clean and enjoys having her hair done. She also enjoys a lay in some mornings. Overall, my two sons and myself are pleased that she is in a safe and secure environment.
Reply from Amanda Hughes, Deputy at Meddyg Care Dementia Home - RhylThankyou for your feedback,If you have any concerns not already discussed with you about your wife, you are welcome to chat with us as always. We will always address the well-being of all our residents through the appropriate channels.

My lovely husband's dementia causes challenging situations for the staff. This week, at first hand I watched the superb way four members of staff worked together over a. 90 minute period to help resolve a situation.
I saw, patience, experience and kindness, I will not forget that afternoon. I already
esteemed the care highly, now I feel quite overwhelmed.

Really lovely to go see my relative in April for her birthday.
The home is always welcoming and my relative was very happy. The food is obviously very good because she left us so she wouldn't miss her lunch.
Its always scrupiously clean and the staff sre all very friendly and considerate to the residents.
Thank
you for taking good care of all the residents.

Richmond House are very professional. They take pride in learning as much as they can about any resident beforehand so that their needs are wholly met. I could not have been happier in the care provided and in the knowledge I could take a break fully reassured that my Mum was being taken care of with
love and compassion. Enrichment and wellbeing are high on the agenda and I know Mum enjoyed her breaks here. We have used this service a number of times and can safely say that the staff are friendly and inviting.
Reply from Amanda Hughes, Deputy at Meddyg Care Dementia Home - RhylThankyou for your feedback and I'm glad that you feel that you are able to take your respite when needed comforted that mum's happy and safe.

Absolutely fantastic care home, from the first visit to the home, we knew Richmond house was the place for my father.
My father settled into the home really quick, as I had personal doubts of my father going into a home, all of the staff welcomed him into the home with such care and friendliness, it
felt my father inherited more family members as he was really settled very quickly. All of the staff have been great also with myself and family members. With having own personal work commitments and a young family, I always thought ' I hope dad is ok', but with a quick phone call if I couldn't make it, the staff reassured me, they're a wonderful team at Richmond, very professional and always there for you.
The activities at Richmond are so pleasing to see the residents faces full of happiness whether it's a sing song, and especially on there birthdays. What a place Richmond is, having nothing but praise for all the team, my dad loved it there and was a part of the Richmond family X
Reply from Amanda Hughes, Deputy at Meddyg Care Dementia Home - RhylThankyou so much for the lovely review, Your dad is still greatly missed and he did indeed gain a lot of family in the time he had with us, we believe that that's what makes Richmond House so special. Thankyou for choosing us to provide the very best care for your dad.

Although my mother's stay was brief the support we received from staff and her support was faultless.
She commenced with a period of respite and we soon realised the benefit of full time care and felt Richmond House was the best place to facilitate this.
Sadly she passed away shortly afterwards
due to health issues however during her spell in hospital and after her passing the staff have been supportive and understanding.
Reply from Amanda Hughes, Deputy at Meddyg Care Dementia Home - RhylThankyou for your lovely feedback, we are sorry we did not get the opportunity to get to know her more but thankyou for choosing Richmond House to provide the care even for a short while. We realise moving into care is a big decision and we will always support families in addition to the residents. Thankyou for entrusting us.

I was so pleased how the Richmond House staff cared for my dad during his time there. They were caring and compassionate. Although my dad didn't take part in all the activities there was always something going on. As I couldn't visit that often it was good to see my dad enjoying himself on their social
media page, I felt it kept me informed of his weekly activities. My dad seemed happy there and didn't have any complaints and I was happy he was well cared for.
One slight complaint would be about the communication, as it was a little poor at times and phone lines would cut off during conversations. This would lead to a confusion on my part not knowing weather I had been understood or I had understood them. Email correspondence seemed to be a better way to communicate.
All in all my dad was looked after very well and it was a comfort for me to know that he was with people who cared for him during his last moments.
Reply from Amanda Hughes, Deputy at Meddyg Care Dementia Home - RhylThankyou for your feedback. It was a pleasure to care for and be a part of, your dads life.Unfortunately the phones are part of a complicated digital system and we are working with the company to rectify the issues. We are always grateful for the ongoing patience of family members etc and apologise for any inconvenience caused with the phones.

My Dad was a resident for just under 2 years. From the day he went to Richmond House I knew it was the right place for him. The home was clean and never smelt like a home, ever. The staff were friendly and professional at all times. Dad could participate in the daily activities and was encouraged to
do so, playing dominoes, watching some of his favourite films, music afternoons with instruments, animal visits, even Dad going to the local Aquarium to pick out some new goldfish at one time. There was also quiet spaces for when he wanted some peace or when I visited with my Dog Max.
Dad's bedroom was always spotless with his personal bits and pieces respected always. He had help getting up, washed & dressed with regular haircuts and a chiropodist often within the home.
I couldn't recommend Richmond House enough. So many wonderful people that work at Richmond House that I was lucky to meet with and how they spoke and looked after Dad I will never forget.
Reply from Amanda Hughes, Deputy at Meddyg Care Dementia Home - RhylThankyou for your lovely words, he is greatly missed. we do try to ensure that activities are tailored around individual needs and hobbies etc and that the whole experience of a care home is a positive one leaving you with lovely memories.

My family all feel that we were very fortunate to be able to place our Mam at Richmond House (RH). Her room is exactly what she wanted and she settled in quickly as the staff made sure that she was comfortable, well attended to and she made genuine friends amongst both staff and other residents. The
food was varied and tasty and each residents meal plan / diet was taken care of.
As a home, RH is modern, comfortable and safe, both indoors and in the garden. There were regular activities to stimulate both mind and body, with visits from interesting people and groups. All organised by a dedicated 'events' manager.
From Day 1 we were happy that Mam was treated with respect and dignity and it was clear that the staff were genuinely caring and kind people, who we grew to know and respect as individuals. We appreciated the time and care they took of Mam and thank them for their professionalism. They do a difficult and challenging job with skill and dedication.
Reply from Amanda Hughes, Deputy at Meddyg Care Dementia Home - RhylThankyou for such lovely words. Your mum is greatly missed. We pride ourselves in providing a standard of care tailored to meet individual needs and requirements, part of that service is having skilled staff who are compassionate about what they do and who they care for as part of an extended family.

Abs her health both physical and psychological.

The staff at the care home are always polite and caring. They listen to my mum and she said the staff are lovely and you can have a joke with them. The staff keep me up dated on any of mums needs and also any appointments she receives to ensure we can respond in a timely way. Mum seems happy to return
to the home after going out on trips.
Due to mum having dementia she often says that she does nothing all day. However, I know that isn't correct because they have an activities organiser and I see pictures on the home Facebook page of activities which mum is engaged in from exercise classes, dancing, listening to music to baking.
Mum always appears well fed and clean when I visit her. I am able to go into her room which is always clean and tidy.
Mum seems happy with the care she is receiving.
Reply from Amanda Hughes, Deputy at Meddyg Care Dementia Home - RhylThankyou for your lovely feedback. Our activities are on 7 days a week and a variety to suit all ages and preferences in addition to staff interacting with the residents even if they do not want to join in - we pride ourselves on our person centred care.

I am very satisfied with the care my mother is receiving at Richmond House Rhyl.
My mother has experienced minor and more serious health issues during her stay at Richmond House. On all occasions I have been kept informed of her treatment plan and her progress. All staff worked conscientiously, with
compassion and empathy for mum during these difficult times.I feel that their diligence contributed to mums full recovery.During a recent episode of illness mum was moved to a more accessible room on the ground floor.
I was able to stay with her overnight. The staff were very attentive to mum and made me very welcome and comfortable. This is so important when a relative is unwell. During this time family members were allowed and encouraged to visit whenever they were able.
Mum has been a resident at Richmond House for two and a half years. Her care has been consistently positive and personally focused to her needs.
Reply from Amanda Hughes, Deputy at Meddyg Care Dementia Home - RhylThankyou for your lovely feedback and I'm glad it was a positive experience for you and your family during worrying times. Mum never wanted to go in a home, but sadly it was not safe for her to stay at home alone anymore. After looking round locally at homes we decided on Richmond House. We felt Richmond House had a different feeling when you walk in.
The staff are caring, friendly and helpful.
Communication is great.
Mum
has settled in and we visit regularly.
We are grateful to the staff who reassured us when I've been upset and concerned about Mums condition. I feel she's well looked after here.
I can go back to being Mums daughter and not her carer anymore.

For me, the key thing that makes Richmond House stand out is the quality of care provided by the staff. They all have such a good rapport with my mum which makes all the difference.
Second on the list is her bedroom which is lovely and clean with a good outlook towards the sea. Her family pictures
on the walls make it her space which is all the more important with her reduced memory.
Mum enjoys her meals too so thank you for that as well!
Although it's not about us, we are always made to feel very welcome each time we visit.
Thank you for all your good work.
