Review of Bridge House from F P (Partner of Resident) published on 20 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My partner spent a month in a care home in Kendal, then came home. Later he needed to go into longterm care and had to go to Bridge House as there were no vacancies in Kendal. I am so glad that he did. Bridge House is warm and homely and with really caring staff. In Kendal, he stayed in his room all the while. Here he mixes, sits in the lounge or by the fish tank in the hall (which he seems to like); eats with the others in the friendly dining area and sits in the garden on warm days. The staff are just lovely and nothing seems too much trouble for them. Sad and painful as it is to see him slowly deteriorate, I feel reassured that he is well looked after here.

Review of Applethwaite Green from Pamela H (Friend of Resident) published on 26 December 2019 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I am impressed with the atmosphere at Applethwaite Green. On entering it feels a welcoming and friendly place. It is spotlessly clean and the staff are very pleasant, calm and caring.

An excellent place. ALL staff work above and beyond the basic duties. They show respect and affection towards the clients. As family members, any concerns and requests have been noted and acted upon in a caring and relevant manner.

Review of Grisedale Croft from Kay (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 October 2016 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My Mum is a resident in Grisedale Croft . She has Alzheimer's so we are particularly lucky that Grisedale staff, most importantly, the Manageress, are qualified to specialise in care of Alzheimer's residents. The staff are so cheerful ,considerate and kind with Mum and treat her with such dignity.

Recently, we were so sad to learn that Mum had breast cancer too, which was so upsetting.

After appointments at the hospital with consultants/surgeons, it was decided that the best option for Mum would be to have a mastectomy which was a daunting prospect for a lady of Mum's age and with Alzheimer's.

There was a lot of preparation work to do to make the hospital visit as comfortable and stress-free for Mum as possible. I cannot thank the Manageress and her team enough for all the help they gave with this even more, so all the help post op. The Manageress even arranged short term accommodation for me just one floor above Mum which we appreciated so much.

Thank You
