The staff at the Abbendon are very kind and the atmosphere in the home is relaxed and comforting. Susan, my sister, is always looking very clean and has care over the clothes she wears and her hair are always looking fresh. She has a regular visit from a local chiropodist who keeps her feet and toenails
looking cared for. The residents have plenty of activities to keep them stimulated, we feel (my husband Ian) and the rest of the family feel she is being very well looked after.
Reply from Val Atherton, Manager at Abbendon Nursing HomeI would like to thank you for your kind words. Your sister is and always has been a pleasure to look after. I will pass on your kind words to the staff.

Abbendon has been unfailingly caring, and all staff respectful and kind. They showed patience, settling my partner into the home - he was reluctant to let them put him to bed, but after several months had managed to get him settled. To myself, they were always courteous and friendly and keep me informed
at all times.
The care is wonderful.

At Abbendon Nursing Home , I know my mum will always be cared for with genuine interest and respect. She is given space to retain her own personal preferences and style. Staff encourage her to choose her own outfits and support her in applying make up and styling her hair, allowing her and her family
to enjoy her individuality and personality as much as possible. There is good continuity of care so we all know the staff and have good relationships with them. I have complete faith in them all.
Reply from Val Atherton, Manager at Abbendon Nursing HomeThank you for your kind remarks. Mum is part of our Abbendon family and we love her deeply. We are pleased that you are happy with the Abbendon and hope to have a relationship with you both for many more years.

I was dubious about my mum being transferred from a long spell in hospital after looking at the ratings for Grace Court. How wrong could I have been.. or the CQC! Grace Court is an absolute home from home, these carers are outstanding as are all the staff from the laundry department to the chef and
kitchen staff, the food is proper home cooked meals which are served with the needs of the residents in mind. It is one big happy family here, and I couldn't wish for better care for my mum. It has also helped me with my stress levels knowing my mum is in a professional and loving environment where she is happy, and I myself love my visits here, catching up with the lovely staff and residents. 10/10.
Reply from Lisa Brothers, Registered Manager at Grace Court Care CentreThank you for your lovely words about Grace Court, we do pride ourselves on the care and support that all the staff not just the care team give to all resident's including your mum she is a pleasure to care for, we also pride ourselves on the support we give to families as families become part of our family at Grace Court not just the residents.
Thank you again

Moving a loved one into a nursing home is never an easy decision, but the staff have made such a difference to how we feel about mum being there. They are kind, caring and treat her with dignity, patience and warmth. It's clear they genuinely care about the residents and want them to feel comfortable
and supported. The nursing staff and the matron are always approachable and happy to answer any questions. They keep me informed if there are any concerns or changes with mum's health, which is very reassuring and gives me real peace of mind. Mum seems to have settled well, and I truly believe that's because of the kindness and understanding she receives from the staff every day. Knowing she is being looked after by such a caring team means a lot to me and my family.

I would also like to mention Emma in administration, who is always lovely to deal with. The invoices are clear and she often includes a kind message asking how I am, which adds a very personal and thoughtful touch.

Reply from Val Atherton, Manager at Abbendon Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words. We feel that it is a team effort to ensure that our clients who are part of our Abbendon family get the most appropriate care and support in the home. We are delighted that you feel reassured and have peace of mind. I will pass on your kind words to the staff.

I am extremely impressed with Bankfield. My aunt has been there since September and has settled in very well. The staff are really good, very friendly and professional. There are always plenty of staff in the lounges and a very good entertainments programme. It is spotlessly clean. It has a good atmosphere.
At Christmas they organised a minibus to take residents out for Christmas lunch which my aunt really enjoyed.
Reply from Nicola Entwistle, Registered Manager at Bankfield Residential HomeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. I am delighted to hear that your aunt has settled in so well since moving to Bankfield in September. It is always our aim to create a warm, welcoming, and homely environment where residents feel comfortable and well supported. Your comments about our team are truly appreciated. We pride ourselves on delivering friendly, professional, and compassionate care, and it is lovely to hear this has been your experience. I will be sure to share your feedback with the staff. It's also wonderful to know that you value the atmosphere in the home, our cleanliness, and the activities programme. Our team works hard to provide meaningful engagement, and I'm so pleased your aunt enjoyed the Christmas outing - it was a special occasion for all involved.
Thank you again for your feedback and for recognising the effort the whole team puts into delivering high-quality care. Kind regards, Nikki Entwistle Care Home Manager

A wonderful place for my dad and to now call home, all the staff have been welcoming and supportive of both me & husband as we worked through his transition to full time nursing home. They have really engaged with him ensure he feels safe. Last week I saw him laughing and joining in with the activities.
I've not seen him belly laugh in many many years so it was a joy to see. He's eating better and they've been able to work with him to improve his personal care/hygiene which to me proves he trusts them and is truly content. Dad is a quite active 6ft (85 yo) and the change from independent to nursing was always going to be a challenge.. all the staff and management team recognised this and have achieved the level of safe/secure/engaged etc very quickly.
Reply from Lisa Brothers, Registered Manager at Grace Court Care CentreThank you so much for your lovely comments and it is a pleasure to care for your dad, the home works with all individuals and adapts to suit all needs ensuring that the individual feels safe and can trust the staff and build that relationship. Activities are a big part of our home and again we person Centre these to suit everyone's individual capabilities. It is not just the care team we as a home care for all our residents.

Thanks
Lisa

Mum has been in Bankfield for 18 months now and we have no complaints. Since being in care, although diagnosed with dementia her physical health has considerably improved due to the level of care received. The events & entertainment along with the seaonal fayres throughout the year are evident a lot
of thought & effort is put in. The food always smells good, mum is certainly eating well and after joining her & the other residents for christmas dinner, we can only say compliments to the chefs. The staff are very friendly, approachable & appear happy. The senior staff team always have time & are extremely friendly & helpful, answer all queries, make you feel reassured & keep us updated on all aspects of mums care. The owner/management team are always willing to listen to your opinions & action any suggestions you may have. All in all, we can say that Bankfield care home 'really does care' & cannot praise all staff enough & feel that we have made many new friends.

Mum was discharged from hospital earlier this year. We did not want her to return to the care home she had been in for about 10 months prior to the hospital. We didn't pick Grace Court and were a little worried because of our previous experience of a care home. We arranged a visit before mum's admittance.
We were made to feel so welcome, mum's room was beautiful and had been finished with all her personal things, bedding, pictures etc. On weekly visits, mum is always up, dressed and in the day room watching TV, something that wasn't the case previous home! I can't thank the staff enough for looking after mum and giving the family peace of mind that she is safe there and cared for as she deserves, she is 94 years old. Thank you to all the staff.

I visit my mother 3 or 4 times a week so I see most of the day staff. I have nothing but praise for the staff who support my mum. She always looks clean and tidy and although she can't verbally communicate with her carers, it is very obvious by her facial expressions that she has a good relationship
with them. I know how difficult and demanding it can be supporting a person with dementia but the staff remain smiling at all times. A brilliant group of nursing staff, carers and domestic staff. Thank you for all you do for my mum.
