The palliative care afforded to my father on Monroe was second to none. Having just come from the horror of hospital just seeing the staff member was soothing. There is a particular nurse who was incredible, he was like an angel and death doula in one. My fathers last days were dignified at Chestnut,
only one thing to note - if your loved one dies, the activities will carry on. We were watching him get wheeled off to that days karaoke, which annoyed me. But you might like the sound of Very Lynn as your person goes cold.
Reply from Campion Mead, Care Home Manager at Chestnut LodgeSadly activities will continue to take place even if a resident dies in the home, this would be for other residents who live in the home. People who leave the building will always have to pass the activities room through reception.

Our beloved mum went into Chestnut Lodge on the 20th January 2026 and sadly passed away on the 4th February 2026. We knew this would be where she ended her days and she did so with respect and dignity.
Campion and his team are absolutely amazing - every staff member who we met were helpful, friendly
and cared for mum as if she was their own.
My sister and I spent many hours in the home with mum and we made so welcome and when mum passed with us at her side, the staff were as upset as we were.
Chestnut Lodge could not do enough for mum and it was totally the right choice for us as a family for her to pass peacefully there.
Thank you and mum - Rest in Peace xxx
Reply from Campion Mead, Care Home Manager at Chestnut LodgeWhen we can we try to facilitate residents to die in their own home out of hospital, where relatives can be with their loved ones all the time.

My Dad went to Chestnut Lodge for a permanent placement when my Mum was struggling to care for him 24 hours a day. Sadly he passed away after four weeks due to his advanced dementia but the care he received from the first day to sadly his last was outstanding. Every member of the care team were kind
compassionate
and so so caring. As a family we could not have asked for anymore from Chestnut Lodge. We will be eternally
grateful to Katarzyna for everything she did for our Dad and us as a family to re-assure us and to keeping us informed every step of the way.
We will be eternally grateful.

I don't think there are words enough to express our gratitude to the wonderful staff at Chestnut Lodge. They treat mum as though she were part of their family. She is surrounded by gentle, smiling, supportive people who care for her wonderfully.

My father passed away on 30/09/25, but I am providing a review for when he was at Sycamore Lodge from 23/4/25 - 29/5/25. I would like to say thank you to Hedwick for the advice and for listening to our concerns and always being approachable. Thank you to Addi, Lovely and Alisha - the carers for looking
after my dad and accommodating my mother's requests. For Judy, the ward nurse for the lovely talks with my father. The nursing care was good and much better than when he was moved into another home. Thank you again.

My husband came to Chestnut Lodge for respite and I was so impressed with the level of care, that I asked for him to be a full time resident. All the care staff and management team have treated my husband with care, kindness and respect and I would highly recommend Chestnut Lodge to anyone who was
having to put a loved one into care.
Reply from Campion Mead, Care Home Manager at Chestnut LodgeIt's always a pleasure to have respite residents, especially when they change to being permanent.

From September 2024, my view is the place is clean, and the staff are very helpful. My mum seems to be very comfortable however, my main concern is regarding the GP service, which needs more attention. For example, the GP should be more available to speak with the resident's family.

Very friendly and helpful staff. My wife was a resident from the 14th of August 2024 to the 6th of December 2024. Was happy and content there, although missing home. Food was good and nourishing and the home was always warm and cosy. The manager was particularly helpful (say, ordering and transferring

I have received a lot of kindness from the staff in Sycamore Lodge during the period my sisters have been cared for. There is a very high standard of cleanliness in the rooms. The rooms are spacious and well laid out. The quality of the meals has improved. There is always a good atmosphere in the dining
room, lounge area. The management have listened to any issues I have raised and acted on them. Thank you.

Chestnut Lodge was home to my Mother-in-law for eight years. The support for her and the family was excellent. Her final few weeks before she died were handled with great sensitivity and love. We will all be extremely grateful for making her passing from this life so stress-free and for being so supportive
to our entire family.

Yet another piece of my property goes missing, a particular mug when I was moved from one room to another. A container containing Christmas DVDs and CDs was opened and some of the DVDs and CDs were found in a grey container so I can only presume some were not there. A particular game (for games in the
car) which was a prize to me also disappeared. People seem to think that as I am in a wheelchair I must be gaga but I can still do £'s of sums. I used to think I would recommend Sycamore Lodge but not anymore.

My mother resided here for 6 and a half years. She had dementia. I believed she was cared for well. When she died last month, I saw the state of her mattress. We took photos, as it was unbelievable. It should never have been used for a frail, vulnerable person who cannot verbalise their discomfort.
When I complained, I was told this was not true, the mattress was not wet, soiled nor indented as shown in the photos I took, and it had now been disposed of. My husband put his hand in the soiled mattress, it was damp and smelled bad. The home have neglected my mother's basic piece of furniture as she was bedbound. My mum lay on that mattress for years. They must have known it was defective and soiled. The home say they've now implemented regular mattress checks. But these checks have been a care home requirement for years under NHS audit checks. My mother's mattress must have been noticed each time her bed was made. Management should have ensured defective, soiled mattresses are changed.
Reply from Jankee Patel, Head Office at Martin HouseWe are deeply sorry for your loss and please accept our sincere condolences. I have spoken to the Home Manager and Area Manager who assure me your complaint has been responded to privately and addressed with CQC and safeguarding who are satisfied with the action taken by the home and response to the complaint. Thank you for your kind comments regarding the care provided during the 6 years your mother resided at the home, I will ensure this is passed on to the staff.

Our family member stayed at Sycamore Lodge for approximately 5 months. She was well cared for and supported by members of staff who were attentive, kind, professional and courteous at all times. The family appreciated the consistency in care staff which meant we as a family had good communication about
our loved one.
Reply from Rahi Joshi, Marketing Associate at Sycamore LodgeThank you for taking the time to leave a review. It's lovely to hear you are happy with the home and your loved one's care. Your feedback is very much appreciated. I will ensure your comments are shared with the team.
