My husband has been in the White House for over 2 years and the staff have looked after him like he was a loved member of their family, they are professional and so caring I couldn't wish for a better home, now he's had to move to Dementia Nursing he had to move but the Manager and all the staff have made this transition seem less of which I am so grateful,

Many thanks to each and everyone involved in his care.

My brother has been a resident for the last 2 years. The management and staff have been absolutely amazing not only in his care but also off his feelings. They have taken the time to get to know his likes and dislikes and also his moods. The activities and events have been brilliant. The manager and her staff in my opinion have been the best we as a family could have ever hope to have looking out for my brothers best interests. I also love that we are kept informed of every thing that goes on and our feelings and wishes are always considered.

The staff at Woodley Hall treat my mam with dignity and support her with her daily tasks. They really do treat her like they would their own family. They care for her by helping her decide what food she would like and giving her options when the meals are not what she wants. When a small concern was raised, they dealt with it immediately, so no further concerns or issues occurred.

The experience was entirely positive. They were professional but at the same time very friendly. They had security of the residents as a priority; asking name and relationship to the resident, making sure I signed in. My sister has only positive things to say about this nursing home. She is happy loves the staff and is impressed by the food.

My mother stayed at The White House for just over 2 years, only leaving due to her needing nursing care. The staff really do make the home, they had a laugh with her and were always patient, friendly and caring. They always have time for family members too and are very responsive and helpful regarding any queries. The management are absolutely great and offered me help and support, going above and beyond in various stressful times. I couldn't have asked for a nicer group of people to take care of her and I know she will certainly miss them!

Overall Experience

My experience during September 2024 doesn't differ from my experience since my mum moved into Woodley Hall some 14 months ago. I visit several times a week and see nothing but my mum and other residents being treated with the utmost care and respect. Both management and staff are very friendly and are always more than happy to help with any issues or questions. I may have and are quick to get in touch if they feel there is anything I need to know. It is a small home but this gives it a more personal feel, there is a lot of laughter and a lot of staff have worked there for a number of years which helps too. More like a 'Home from home'. I couldn't ask for more.

My father-in-law has had 4 periods of respite care in Woodley Hall. It's been really beneficial to him and the family. The staff have made every effort to get to know our relative and have a good understanding of his needs. They have consistently treated him with care and respect.

Overall Experience

My mam has been a resident at Woodley Hall for almost six years. I am currently happy with her care. There have been a few ups and downs over the years, this, in part, is because until you experience Alzheimer's, you are unaware of the change your loved one will go through. There have been two members of staff who I have been unhappy with, and I have spoken directly to management. I could not care for my mam, and I am grateful that the staff can do that for me and my mam.

Review of Woodley Hall from Keith A (Husband of Resident) published on 10 September 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My wife has been a resident at Woodley Hall since May 2019. On admission, her Alzheimer's Disease was moderate. She was active, able to engage in conversation, take part in activities and resistant to personal care. The perseverance and good care that the staff showed made a big difference in her quality of life. She settled in. Covid restrictions reduced - and for a time stopped - my visits. However, knowing that she was safe, well cared for and loved helped me to deal with this.

Her disease has progressed during her residence and she now says little, sleeps a lot and has little meaningful engagement. This has not altered the home's approach to treating her with dignity, promoting independence and practising personalised care. Over the last 5.5 years, there have inevitably been a few minor issues but these have been dealt with promptly and to my satisfaction. This is due in large part to the good relationship that I have formed with the manager and staff.

Review of The White House Nursing Home from B S (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 August 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
The White House was the home chosen by my mother after an emergency respite admission. This was an extraordinarily difficult time for us all made bearable by the caring and committed staff.
The room was decorated for Mum moving into her room, with colours of her choosing. This, alongside being able to bring her treasured furniture, made a huge difference to her being able to call the care home 'home'.
The staff are your greatest asset. They work hard, are dedicated and have at all times shown compassion.

I am very aware that the infrastructure desperately needs work. This is no reflection on how it is managed and cared for on a daily basis, but the company managing this superb staff and care facility very much need to invest time and effort bringing the building to match the high standards of care shown by it's staff; this would not only improve the quality of the environment for people who call the White House home, but would show they value the hard work and care shown.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit friends abroad, during July this year. Of course with Mum being in the home, and me as her main carer, I was torn whether to go or not.
But not for long, I had senior staff looking out for my long-term welfare, first of all, which I can't thank them enough for. Then, of course, I had Mum's wellbeing to think about. As I had no worries about her care. Much to my amazement, I had video calls from Mum, whilst I was away, showing me how well and happy she was, and though she didn't really know who I was. My mind was put at rest, and I could relax.

I am very grateful to The White House, who I feel are like extended family, I would do anything I could to help them, in what is such a hard job. As I know the care is centered around every individual patient. Who they are genuinely fond of, plus you have staff there, who have been there since the home opened. Not many can be so proud of the staff, who are that loyal, these days.

Overall Experience

Our Mam came to the White House for respite following a stay in hospital and has subsequently become a permanent resident. From our very first phone call to the present time we have experienced an outstanding level of care and consideration towards Mam and us (her family) we feel very confident that Mam is in a safe and caring environment and all her needs are being met. The home has an open visiting policy and we are made to feel welcome at each visit. All staff members we have met have shown the same high level of friendly considerate care. As a family, we are more than happy with the care Mam is being given at the White House, and would highly recommend this Care Home.

Overall I am very pleased with my mother's stay at The White House. The staff are caring and look after her well. The room and building could possibly benefit from being redecorated but the staff more than make up for this with their care.

What an absolutely lovely residential home! Every member of staff I've met are pleasant, caring, recognise me and who I'm there to visit. My mam is treated with respect and dignity. They have a laugh with her, my mam appears to love every one of them! It's an absolute pleasure visiting my mam. She's happy, content, clean and looks well cared for. She's obviously comfortable where she is, she never says she wants to leave or she doesn't like her room. She joins in all the activities and from photos I see she loves every minute. I'm kept updated by staff of any issues involving my mam, ie if she's poorly etc. I attended a review recently with a member of staff to discuss my mam's care, which I think was a brilliant idea and I have another one booked in. It may not be the most modern, up to date home but that doesn't matter. It's clean, has fantastic staff and it actually has a lovely homely feel to it. All I want is my mam to by happy, well looked after and cared for and she has it.

Reviews are vetted so you can only say so much.
There were some great great carers here but others who clearly didn't care at all.
Serious health and safety issues. I frequently had sickness and diarrhoea after visits.
Mam and her room were often dirty and stained with dried excrement.
Her clothes rarely coordinated. Her hair was often not tidy on visits and her fingernails, and sometimes she herself were simply filthy.
I can't state strongly enough against using this facility for your loved ones.
Her room was not supervised adequately and totally insecure. Other residents frequently entered her room and terrorised her.
High turnover of staff. Good staff generally didn't stay long.
There are a lot more, more serious incidents to complain about, but, as I say, I can only say so much.

Stay safe and stay away from The White House.

Review of Woodley Hall from Helen J (Daughter of Resident) published on 2 November 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
We have had to take the drastic step of removing our 91-year-old dad from Woodley Hall. He has dementia so the last thing we wanted to do was to go through the upheaval of transferring him to another home. The home is nicely appointed and newly decorated but the care standards fell very short of our expectations.
1. Basic care - dad was often found in an unkempt state.
2. Communication with senior staff even basic information was not relayed to the family.
3. Issues involving safeguarding. We have attempted to address these issues with senior management and the company but have had to escalate all the issues further.

We found some members of staff to be approachable and kind but others lacked any kind of empathy and understanding. It is with regret that we cannot recommend Woodley Hall.

Reply from Steve Smith, Operations Manager at Woodley Hall

We are very disappointed that we were unable to meet the expectations of the reviewer however every effort was made to discuss the issues raised with the reviewer. You need another option box as very poor doesn't come close and 200 words is grossly insufficient to complain about this appalling home. Our family would never have placed our mother here but the hospital discharged her there - do they inspect it! She had broken her knee while in the hospital's care and was sent here for rehab but for seven weeks she was sat in a chair all day with no stimulation whatsoever, looking at dirty surroundings - we took endless photos to back this up. From day one, we were disgusted by what we saw and the levels of neglect and lack of care our mother received. When she fell out of bed, which resulted in horrendous facial bruising, they had to admit no crash mat was in place. It was shocking how much weight she lost. The majority of residents have no visitors, so this home needs to be closed for the sake of these poor people with no voice. As I said, you need larger forms as so many complaints.
