Thank you for taking the time to write a review of the care home and team. It means an awful lot to us to know that we helped your mother and your family when you all needed it. It was a privilege. Best wishes, the team at Puddavine Court

A sad Experience
I watched my father neglected at Puddavine Court (He was in their care a few weeks). If your family member is at Puddavine Court, visit regularly-often. Staff won't respond to emergencies properly. : open wounds untreated and not calling a Doctor, stroke symptoms ignored, call buzzer unanswered the days I visited, meals were missed, basic hygiene neglected ,he didn´t got a wash or a shower the days I visited(,me and my sister gave him a wash.) My father experienced mild stroke symptoms and called me in distress.
I called the home asking them to check on him. First call: The staff member who answered hung up without providing me information or acknowledging my concerns
Second call: Another staff member answered and was rude despite my requests. No proactive monitoring. He ended up in hospital three days later ; this could have been prevented. The worst part? He felt abandoned. Staff ignored him for speaking up.

This is not an ideal place for your loved ones.

Thank you for your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to read that you feel this was your father's experience.

The allegations made in your review are very serious. We have carefully reviewed our records and do not believe that your account accurately reflects the care provided or the events as...

Review of Roundham Court from Jane G (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I cannot praise this home highly enough. The care that my mum receives is exceptional. The staff are wonderful and I have never heard an unkind word said - to anyone. The home is kept really clean and it feels like a 'hotel by the sea'. My mum eats and socialises happily with other residents - something I never thought that I would see. Her mobility is extremely limited and she requires intimate care. All met so well.

Reply from Nikki Rogers, Owner at Roundham Court
Thank you so much for your kind words. It is an absolute pleasure to look after your mum, she is a lovely lady and we are pleased to know you are all happy with Roundham Court and the care that is being provided.

During end of life care, my cousin was treated with kindness, dignity and attentiveness. The staff liaised effectively with medical teams and ensured she was pain-free, comfortable and safe. As her only relative, I am so grateful for the gentle, cheerful care she was given and also for the kindness the staff showed to me.

Kahala provided excellent care and kindness to dad in his last few weeks. So reassuring for his son and daughter to know he was being well cared for. It was like a weight lifted off us knowing he was safe and had all his needs met. Thank you to every member of the team.

Review of Kahala Court from Mike B (Son of Resident) published on 12 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mother, who was 103, was only in Kahala Court for two months, but the care she received whilst there was first class. The four senior managers were all highly competent and efficient, and the carers so friendly and helpful to my mother who was very frail and needed attention during the day and night. My dealings with the administrator by email on billing etc were friendly and helpful. External visitors such as podiatrists, and district nurses, all spoke highly of the home. The food was excellent and especially the home-made treats with the afternoon tea. Although my mother was unable to join in, there were lots of activities going on for the residents to enjoy, including trips out as well as a full programme of indoor activity. My impression of this care home is that it is a first class establishment, well run and caring for its residents.

Reply from Michelle Amesbury, Registered Manager at Kahala Court

We felt welcome as soon as we arrived. Dad's things were taken to his room and placed carefully to feel a little like home before he walked in. It was a lovely gesture. Throughout, all the staff acted with the highest respect towards Dad and our family. They clearly valued being open, thoughtful and caring, and went above and beyond for Dad's needs. Puddavine Court is lovely, a beautiful outside space and plenty of visitor parking. If we had our time again, I would recommend Dad stay there.

My husband was in Kahala Court in Kingsbridge for 4-and-a-half years. The care he received was first-class. The carers were caring, patient, and nothing was too much trouble. Latterly, the activities offered to the residents was much improved and the management first class. I'm extremely grateful that his last years were as comfortable as was possible

Review of Quay Court Care Centre from Fran L (Wife of Resident) published on 24 October 2025 Submitted via Website

My husband has suffered from Parkinsons for many years. Therefore he was unable to care for himself. He needed help with washing, dressing, and was doubly incontinent. The care he received in the home was excellent. There were always sufficient staff available, and he was always clean and comfortable. His room was always clean and well maintained. He enjoyed the food, a varied menu of freshly made meals. The staff are very friendly and professional, and always ready with a smile and a helping hand. Good value for your money and you can trust that your loved one is well looked after.

Truly exceptional care provided by Quay Court team. The last months of our father's life were managed with great dignity, kindness and attention to detail. We appreciated the anticipation of care need progression throughout his final illness. We had complete confidence in the team to provide exceptional 24 hour care.

Review of Bascombe Court from Jennifer R (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 15 October 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mother-in-law has been in Bascombe Court for seven years and we have visited the home throughout this time. We always come unannounced so we see the home as it normally is. We cannot fault it. Her room is always immaculate and mum is clean and tidy. She eats well and she says the staff are very kind. That is what we see.

Review of Roundham Court from R C (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 October 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mom was at Roundham Court for just over 2 years and I cannot begin to express my thanks to all of the staff at the home for the care that they showed to mom throughout her stay. The home is very well managed by Becky and her wonderful team, they all provide the highest quality care. I visited the home regularly to see mom throughout her years with them and the atmosphere at the home was homely, friendly and above all caring. All the staff treat all the residents with respect, dignity, great care and compassion. When Mom's health deteriorated, the staff were fantastic in providing end of life care for mom and were so supportive and helpful to me and my family through a few difficult months. If you are looking for care home for your loved one, go and visit them and see for yourself because you will feel the love and care as soon you go there and meet the team. You are all angels, thank you so much for everything you did for mom, I will be forever grateful to you all.

My mother spent several weeks here after suffering a fall at home.
The staff cared for my mother well, looking after her needs as her condition improved.
The choice of food and afternoon entertainment was varied and the ability to visit with very little restriction was a great help.

Overall, I believe the care and attention she received was excellent, resulting in a swift recovery.

My husband went into Puddavine for 2 weeks respite care to enable me to visit my son and family in France who I hadn't seen in 18 months.

He was looked after so well by the team with kindness and care it was so comforting to know he was so well looked after as it was the first time he'd been into a care home.

My mother was looked after here for a few weeks earlier this year after several falls at home and two hospitalisations. She had developed a mixed dementia. Her care at Puddavine was excellent and the friendly, approachable staff made her stay comfortable and safe. Both issues had become worrying for the family as she was clearly struggling to do so at her own home alone.

Overall Experience

I have been privileged to visit Kahala Court Care Home ever since its beginning, possibly 30 years. I visit friends. Also, I go for the months C of E service, and sometimes take part. Also a man from Baptist Church and I did a monthly service when there wasn't a C of E one. The former is Thursday morning, the latter was Sunday afternoon. Last year, a close friend was cared for into her 100th year! Another elderly mother of a friend I visited. After she passed, her daughter thanked Kahala in the local paper. At Kahala, they have activities, like exercises! A hairdresser goes every Tuesday. It is such a lovely setting, with trees and a lot of brightness.
