My experience is not good regarding my Sister. Left sitting in a draft window opened on her back she caught a cold.
No treatment, no nurse with knowledge of the patient's needs. I had to actually take her to the bathroom in the end. She many times was often left incontinent, that was not told to her relatives.

She caught Covid the signs were with her on 29th of November about 4 days before she was admitted to hospital. I saw my sister was unwell on the 29th of November the lady took her blood pressure i saw her with the sphygmomanometer and asked what was the readings she took. It was 120/70 and 72 pulse I requested the manager to get her seen, for her to be seen by the doctor. I telephoned 1st of December for any information I could get and was told by an agency staff member, she informed me she was an agency staff and did not have the report on my sister to give me, but I could call back. The next communication was when she was found unresponsive and very sick.

Excellent level of care. My relative has been there for just over a year. I visit weekly, and I have found Alan Morkill House practically faultless in every way. Management and staff deal with any health-related issues effectively, treat her with dignity and respect and keep her happy. Whenever I visit I see a spotlessly clean, caring and happy place.

We moved my 93-year-old mum, who has dementia, from another home as it was closer to our home. The management and staff were very welcoming and accommodating before and after the move. The facilities, food and care are excellent. We feel it is a safe and caring environment for my mum. My mum has settled very well and is happy.

Overall Experience

Overall good. The best thing is the manager, professional, caring, knowledgeable, and flexible. Staff is very friendly, and a positive attitude starts with the manager running through the whole care home. I was struck with the cleanliness, there is a constant effort at keeping the home clean in both the public and private areas. The environment is very positive, near a park, well served by public transit, generous parking, and a short walk from a great restaurant. I was surprised no one knew about it. The care home meals seem generous and well-prepared. Somewhat concerning was attention to dress. I found my wife walking in a public area without any shoes or slippers on even though she was accompanied with a care worker. Happily, I only needed to complain once. She also went a few days without a change of clothes, although she may have changed into pyjamas at bedtime. Very impressed with safety with entrance and exit codes, and two codes for the elevator. Congratulations.

My aunt is settling in well. One carer, in particular, is a wonderful carer who communicates well and encourages my aunt to participate in activities and encourages interaction with other residents. The staff at Alan Morkill are making a difficult situation much easier.

The first impression was that the outside of the building/yard was clean and kept. Upon entering the building the home has a very clean and airy feeling. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly. The overall appearance of the home was clean (although I didn't see the bedroom of my mom).

My father came to Alan Morkill in November 2021. We have never been through the process of a home and had heard scary stories about care homes. I can say that from the day my father arrived at Morkill, the whole experience has been positive and very assuring. They (Alan Morkill team) are amazing and very helpful in every way.
