Alan Morkill House, has an impeccable reputation when it comes to delivering exceptional care.

The home provides residential care for older people and those who have dementia. The rooms are arranged into seven groups with a shared sitting room and kitchen for each group which encourages residents to get to know each other.

Residents are encouraged to make their fully furnished rooms as comfortable as possible with their own belongings. The supportive staff team are available 24 hours a day to help with any requests from the residents, and clients are able to choose a local GP. An optician, dentist and chiropodist also visit the home.

The area is home to world Famous Notting Hill, Portobello Market, and the annual event of Notting Hill Carnival, a lovely celebration for the residents to have on their doorstep.

I am sending this almost a year late having now experienced 3 or 4 similar establishments in the area (after hospital discharges). Yours was superior in every way to those in the area (all of which are awful in my experiences). I was particularly impressed by the quality, intelligence and expertise
of all your carers whether dealing with dementia patients or those on respite (as I was). I can't tell you how wonderful your people are compared with the superficial, lazy, self-orientated 'carers' in the area. I would like to particularly mention the quality of entertainment, the fun your activities implemented. The others offered nothing, especially to those in bed chairs, with no attempt to improve people's mobility or mental capacity; particularly impressed. With friends and relatives looking for help; yourselves were brilliant although for medical reasons I could eat very little. Congratulations to everyone!

The care, love and attention from the carers is first class. They work really hard looking after and caring for my mom. It gives me real peace of mind. I am really grateful for everything they do, and the manager and office staff are always helpful and very caring. I can't thank them enough.

Most of the staff are very welcoming and friendly. They are patient and answer most of my questions and concerns. They have made an effort to accommodate my mother's needs and my request. My mother said she is happy here, so that is all that counts in the end.

The Alan Morkill House team have worked hard to safeguard elderly and frail residents from COVID, whilst maintaining a normal service in an unprecedented situation. They quickly adopted infection control measures to ensure residents and staff were protected, along with regular testing. Despite the
pressure on staff, they have continued to provide a very caring and safe environment for my mother, which was very reassuring when I could not be there in person because of social distancing. However, I do not feel the Home has received much support to do this from the wider healthcare sector funded by the Government eg: the GP provider, the CCG or Social Services, all of whom should have been more involved and visible but failed to help the care homes enough in my view. AMH has kept its residents safe despite lack of support. You would expect GPs to do face to face care with PPE but they have not visited for 14 weeks and only offer video consultations which is ridiculous.

Although my mother has only been there for a few days in very difficult times we are very disappointed with this home. Her needs have not been met. Medication late. Personal hygiene needs not met.

This place is lovely. The staff are polite, friendly and go above and beyond. My mum was so upset but once we were there we felt at ease and happy. Mum's short stay there was met by such professional kind staff. We thank you so so much.

My good friend was cared for in the last 9 months of her life in Alan Morkill House due to physical limitations. She had never wished to live in a care home, but after a brief period of respite at Alan Morkill House, she decided she wanted to stay there. She was well looked after by the staff, who clearly
enjoyed having her around and many of whom became good friends. I can't comment much on the food, as my friend was quite particular and often chose to eat out, but I think it was fine! I and her many other friends are very grateful for the care she received.

I am very happy my mum is here in Alan Morkill House. Her improvement has been amazing. She is calmer, more relaxed and less anxious as before. All the staff and management I have met have been very caring and extremely attentive to my mum's needs. Than you from my heart.

My Uncle received excellent care at Alan Morkill House. The staff were always helpful and friendly and he was made to feel happy, secure and comfortable as he spent the last two years of his life there. I would recommend the home to friends and family.

Three managers in three years!
All carers excellent, hardworking, patient and courteous at all times. Office staff also very kind.
Carers should be recognised for going that extra mile, that will encourage others to do the same. It's the staff that run the home.
One problem - no one will answer the
landline at weekends.
It is so frustrating that we cannot enquire about a loved one.

My sister lived at Alan Morkill House for 7 years. She was well cared for by kind and efficient staff - when medical assistance was required the management dealt with it. Her living accommodation was kept clean. Her bedding was changed weekly. She enjoyed her meals.

My partner had a lovely room with a view of the patio and park beyond. I was so grateful that they took my partner to stay here as it was very comfortable for him and close to my home. The staff were friendly and helpful to him and myself and a couple of them were outstanding. There was a good programme

My mother settled well for 2.5 weeks respite stay thanks to the very caring and attentive help of all staff. Everyone was exceptionally cheerful, caring and helpful at all times to my mother and also to us as visiting family members. Nothing was too much trouble.
Negative aspects - very small room,
no TV remote initially, cold tap too stiff for mum to manage, we mentioned and not repaired. One window faulty causing a draft and should be checked before winter time. Mum's hair not washed and hairdresser did not turn up on site when expected. No emphasis on "entertainment or singing" to relieve the days which became boring after 2 weeks. However, we would be happy for mum to visit again for a respite stay.

I appreciate the sincere review and we are looking at recruiting an activities coordinator as the current activities coordinator will proceed on maternity real soon and mostly off work. we will work hard to integrate the care staff to carry out activities with residents regardless of activities coordinators.
The maintenance book has been introduced so that any concern about the state of repairs is followed up and signed off by the home manager and the maintenance officer.

The attention and understanding the staff gave to my mother and our family was 100%. Mum is not the easiest person to look after with her dementia and loss of speech so needs a lot of patience to cajole her into doing things which the staff here managed perfectly.
She now needs advanced complex care
so will go to a nursing home. We thank all the staff at Alan Morkill House.

Visiting my sister who has severe dementia I joined an exercise class taken by an enormously enthusiastic young girl, friendly, encouraging and engaging. I joined in with the class. My mother moved into Alan Morkill House in June 2016 and after the initial settling in period she has been extremely happy. Myself and my family visit regularly and have found the care she gets from all the carers extremely satisfactory. I have walked into them singing with her which she loves. My mother's
room is always clean and tidy and the young lady that organises and carries out the daily activities is amazing. My only gripe would be that the residents seem to spend too long in the 'dining room' on not very comfortable chairs. I feel that times in the lounge on more comfy chairs would enable them to relax and maybe nap if needed.
