Lyle House Care Home

The home is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful, keeping me informed about what my dad is up to. He is very settled in the environment, he joins in activities and goes on small outings as well.

Lyle House tries to maintain an adequate level of staff, but like all institutions experience shortages at times due to personnel leaving to cut travel times, or earn a little more. This has resulted in difficulties with home managers. The lack of a regular receptionist means others have to cover. This must lead to staff stress. So sometimes I do have difficulty understanding what some staff are saying due to their speech patterns, and my partial deafness.

Lyle House Care Home have made the move for my mother who has dementia into residential care a good experience. They have helped her settle in very well. The staff are respectful and caring. The home is clean and they provide good quality food with choices each day.

Overall, I have observed that my mother is receiving adequate care and attention at the care home, for which I am grateful. However, I do have a significant concern regarding her dietary needs, as she follows a pescatarian diet and does not consume meat. It would be beneficial for the staff to be more attentive to this aspect of her dietary requirements.

On a positive note, I have noticed that some of the staff members engage in friendly conversations and share moments of laughter with my mother, which is heartwarming to witness.

The home is well-appointed and well-maintained. It’s clean and the staff keep residents clean and comfortable. It does not feel crowded and there are some interesting concept rooms like the cafe, the pub and the cinema room. The garden is ok, well designed at least for keeping residents cool in hot weather. Most of the reception staff are very capable and friendly. There seems to be quite a turnover of management which is a little unsettling, 3 managers in 3 years I think. Some of the care staff are truly excellent, some better than adequate and one or two seem a little lacking in empathy and basic practical skills. Activities are bought in, like singers and these are usually of a reasonable standard and quite entertaining, and the activity coordinators try hard to maintain a weekly programme, but I wonder about the lack of more intimate therapeutic engagement that might actually challenge and slow the inevitable descent into dementia. My mum and I have become quite fond of the team.

My husband was treated friendly with courtesy and dignity, there were no restrictions on visiting for myself and friends which I think is important. He was made very comfortable, and well looked after

Good care home with happy residents. Friendly, polite and helpful carers that keep me informed of resident. Great facilities such as cinema room, bar and cafe. Female receptionist is friendly as well.

Since my mother has been a resident at Lyle House the care she has received has been excellent. The staff always have time to stop and enquire as to how she is feeling, and when family members visit, they always make us feel comfortable and part of the family. For mum's 95th birthday last year, they arranged a private birthday party and could not do enough to accommodate all our needs. The management team are also very helpful and does whatever is needed to make life as easy as possible for residents and family. I would recommend Lyle House to any family needing care for family members.

The home itself is very nice. It is modern and attractive with very good facilities.

My aunt loves it at Lyle House. My aunt has gone from not wanting to go to the care home to please can I stay as everything is lovely, especially the staff. She has made friends and is so happy. It has given me peace of mind to see her so settled. Just like to say a big thank you to everyone at Lyle House.

My husband spent two weeks respite care at Lyle House while I was on holiday with my daughter. His room was very good and the staff excellent. They were very accommodating when I had to change his arrival time due to problems with the ambulance transfer from home. He was very well cared for. The staff kept me fully informed about everything. They made me feel totally confident that he was in good hands while I was away. I will certainly use Lyle House for future respite care

Sadly for mum after 77 years in the home she married in, and had her 5 children in, she had to move into Lyle House but wow what a great move mum is well cared for looks healthy, and is no longer lonely. She loves the dancing and bingo we love we can visit anytime and all the staff are caring and friendly

I had to access a care home urgently for my uncle who was a high risk as he had not been looking after himself. I contacted Lyle House and explained the situation and they couldn't have been more helpful and understanding. After a rapid telephone assessment, a short-term admission was arranged for the same day. The staff were faultless and looked after him exceptionally well for two weeks. Thank you.

I couldn't recommend it any higher. As a family, we count ourselves lucky that our father is in such good care.

My mum has been at Lyle House for approximately 9 months now and we couldn't be happier with the care she is receiving. It's so true what they say 'A companies culture filters from the top down.' When you meet the manager at Lyle House, you will know what I mean. He is so attentive, caring and helpful, both with residents and their families. It has been our experience that any of the staff that we have had dealings with (from the reception team to the carers to the activities team to the kitchen staff) are all friendly and helpful. We have seen such a huge change in our mum's mental health. She is smiling again and engaging with us and the staff. They patiently convince her to change her clothes and come out of her room to socialise with the other residents. She is also so well looked after, she regularly has her nails and hair done by the vising beauty therapist. As for the standard of the facilities at Lyle, they are 5*! My mom's room is beautifully furnished and is always clean.

From the day we visited Lyle to view the suitability for our mum we have been impressed with the high standard of care, facilities, knowledge of staff and cleanliness of the care home. Just over a year later we are still very happy with the care Mum receives and standards have not dropped. The staff have been amazing during lockdown keeping families connected via Skype. Thank you.

It has been difficult for everyone during the Covid pandemic, so visiting has been limited but my sister has been cared for and is happy in her environment. Thank you.

My mother joined Lyle House in January 2020. All of the staff have been incredibly helpful and kind especially throughout the pandemic, keeping the lines of communication between my mother and the family open and accessible. The Well Being and Activities coordinators provide stimulating entertainment and the catering staff serve up food that would not be out of place in a central London restaurant. My mother is unable to articulate her feelings in words but the joy on her face and constant laughter is a firm indication that she is happy, comfortable and safe within this environment.
