My husband was in Norton House Care Home from August 2022 for six months. The home is very well run, always spotlessly clean and well maintained. The staff were absolutely fantastic and treated my husband with real loving care. I cannot speak too highly of them. My only slight disappointment and the
reason I have given 4 stars instead of 5, was in the quality of the activities that were arranged for residents. Everything else about the home is first rate and I would recommend it unhesitatingly.

I have been visiting my friend once a week for four years she is an extremely self-contained person. Very independent. Every visit I bring her flowers and delicious treats! I used to be her carer at her home. After many falls she now feels safe after moving into Norton House.
All the staff are friendly,
respectful, helpful and welcoming!

Following a brief hospital admission, my sister was professionally assessed by a Norton House staff and subsequently admitted to the House. Prior to my sister leaving hospital, I visited Norton House with my wife, to see if it would be a suitable placement for her. We were met by the home manager, who
welcomed us and showed us around. We were immediately impressed by her experience, caring and professional attitude. The premises was very clean and well-maintained.
My sister has settled in well in Norton House. In her own words, she feels 'well cared for'. The meals are freshly cooked on the premises and are 'excellent' according to my sister. There are daily activities that my sister can join in, should she wish to do so. As a family, we all feel reassured that my sister is being well cared for. We always found the staff to be friendly, courteous and welcoming. All in all, we are very pleased with Norton House.

Each flat has a bathroom with a shower, also each flat has a TV and armchair with comfortable positioning. The flat and bathroom are cleaned each day as well as the bed is made in the morning. Breakfast is served in a dining room on the ground floor and with plenty of staff to serve food. Lunches and
diner are held in the lounge that serves each floor.

I visited my husband once a week or so during this time. The staff were kind, friendly and efficient. My husband seems comfortable enough but said he would like his food to be tastier and more appealing particularly in the flavour. Norton House is bright, modern and welcoming and I'm pleased that my
husband is here. I think they will do what they can to improve the food for him.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.509)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.509) out of 10 for Norton House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.584 for Norton House is calculated as follows: ( (166 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 238 Ratings = 4.584
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norton House is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
