Hall Grange was by far the best care home offering support for my late wife over all the other care homes my family looked at. Sadly, my wife died just under a year from admittance. During that time she received very good care although activities to improve physical fitness could have been more frequent. All the staff from management to cleaners are very effective and caring.

Thank you for your kind words and valuable feedback. We're truly sorry for your loss and are honoured to have supported your wife during her time with us. Your comment about activities has been noted and will be taking on board as we continue to improve our care.

My mother entered Hall Grange in February 2024 and was there until she passed away in October 2024.
The care was excellent, mum was treated with dignity and compassion.

The facilities were excellent, as was the food. Mum really liked the 'tea trolley' which came around twice a day, dispensing doughnuts and cake. All the staff were very kind and helpful and the management was excellent.

My mother has been living at Hall Grange since 2016. I am exceptionally happy with the care the home gives to my mother. The staff are so very helpful and nothing is too much for them to do. The home manager is proactive, attentive and resolves concerns immediately with reassurance. My mother is 105 years old and thriving at Hall Grange with the exceptional care they provide.

Called to see my cousin, we have to travel over 400 miles and can only visit once a year. We asked if a coffee could be served to us in her room and we were refused saying the tea trolley was not at that time on duty. We requested twice but no luck. At almost £7,000 per month, a coffee would have been a nice gesture.

Reply from Abi Williams, Home Manager at Hall Grange

My parents were/are well cared for and the quality of the environment within the home seems to be excellent. To me, the communal dining room seems very good for ensuring that residents leave their rooms several times a day. The gardens of the home are exceptional and, I know, much appreciated.

Review from Richard N (Brother of Resident) published on 27 September 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

For three years the Hall Grange team provided outstanding care for my brother who suffered from early onset Parkinsons. The disease was challenging, but they patiently strived to understand him and ensure that he felt cared for and liked. The facilities were exactly what he needed, space and a magnificent outdoor area (called the Wilderness) that he loved. The whole family feel that my brother was fortunate, during his most vulnerable years, to be cared at Hall Grange, the Rose Unit deserves particular praise for where he spent most of his time.

We all had a wonderful barbecue with singing from the music therapist, guests, staff, and residents. The staff made sure everyone was well fed, got people joining in, and there was even some dancing! A lovely way to spend a Friday lunchtime and afternoon.

My dad has been here since August 2023, transferred from hospital. Dad is very well cared for and we as a family love all the daily activities and Dad's meals are always in the dining room with familiar faces. Dad always seems pleased to see us and if unhappy will speak up and care managers are always happy to solve any issues.

Staff are lovely. Have always treated my mum with care, patience and respect. Could do with a few more activities. Sometimes the noise of the personal alarms gets to be wearing. Couldn't fault the care given by the staff though who are always kind and approachable even when it is not always easy. Food is well cooked and tasty.

The care a Hall Grange is excellent. Residents are spoken to with kindness even when just passing by in the corridor. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. There is a lovely 'feel' to Hall Grange. The community hub is a great place and my mum now has more company than she has had for years. Great range of activities, something to interest everyone I would think.

My mum has been at Hall Grange for almost 8 months, it is a lovely home, roomy and homely, However sorry to say that the activities are not great, I think she has done a bit of colouring in and one of the visitors plays music every day. A lot of the time they are in front of the TV. Mum is still able to be very active but this is not being taken into account. No trips, not often outside and often she is in her room not engaged. Most staff are amazing (which is why we chose it) but they work long hard hours and seem to be very thin on the ground with the level of care they are providing. They also are not contracted so do not get paid breaks (on 12 hour shifts). I have now reported this and hopefully this review can improve.

I am very happy with Hall Grange, the care is excellent and I really feel assured that my mum is well cared for. After Covid I do think there has been less staff and at times, when I have visited, the staff have been very busy, it took a while to reput the activities but I hope that it's better now. I would love it if the home could make better use of the garden and take Mum and they're able to walk for fresh air.

Otherwise, I am very happy with Hall Grange.

Hall Grange was recommended to us by a neighbour; this was for a short stay of respite initially. After a couple of weeks, my friend decided that it was somewhere he would like to continue living. Hall Grange has adjusted to his needs; he is extremely comfortable and happy, and the staff are very helpful, kind, caring and patient.
The interview process at this home was seamless, and when we discussed his requirements, all of our questions were answered clearly, giving comfort that we were making the right decision.

I would like to give a special thanks to the deputy manageress, who has been especially kind to my friend and made his time at Hall Grange enjoyable due to her compassionate nature.

My aunt was admitted with dementia and spent six very happy years in Hall Grange until she died. She was always clean, comfortable and well cared for. As she deteriorated, they were attentive to her needs and made every effort to get her seen by the medical services when necessary. The end-of-life care was great, and we were made very welcome. The staff communicated well throughout, and we were very happy with the choice of Hall Grange.
