My elderly cousin with early-onset Alzheimer’s and looking into settling in permanently, attended for one month’s respite. Although in the midst of the COVID epidemic, the staff and especially the manager, were so friendly and helpful, from the arranging of testing prior to entry, to her arrival and
settling in. Unfortunately, I could not go in with her nor visit her but did have daily contact with via phone and also daily reports from the manager. The staff made her feel as much at home as possible but all is difficult during these trying times, together with the confusion brought on by her Alzheimer’s. Although my cousin has returned home, she has discussed her future and has said how good the food was and that, yes, she is seriously thinking of making the move on a permanent basis.

My relative has lived there for almost three years, and the staff have always treated her as an individual. During Covid-19, they have kept her safe and well and made life as comfortable as possible in these difficult circumstances. They have always kept me up to date with what is happening at the home.
My most welcome recent visit was carefully made to ensure maximum safety for all parties.

Our Mum has been a resident since September 2018. We were despairing of finding a home that ticked all the boxes until we visited Frognal. We were immediately impressed by the warm atmosphere as well as the beautiful home and grounds. Mum has been happy here and very well cared for.
The home is well
managed and the standard of care, food, housekeeping and maintenance is high.
All members of staff are all able and do a great job, never more so than the past few months by excelling themselves.
There are regular activities and minibus outings as well as events, which family and friends are invited.

The staff at Sunrise of Frognal have always provided good care for my mother, but have gone above and beyond over the last few months.
It has been very difficult not being able to see her in person, but the twice-weekly Skype "visits" with mum have been a great help to me. They can be a bit hit or
miss, depending on how chatty mum's feeling, but at least we get to see each other and I've become very fond of the carers who set the calls up and sit with her throughout.
The home arranged a drive-through visit in June which meant I got to see mum face to face from the car. It was so well organised and beautifully done.
On a practical level, the layout of the building is very fit for purpose in that the corridors are wide and the common areas are spacious with modern, clean flooring and surfaces. The grounds are well suited for outside visits, which I am very much looking forward to.

On June 17, Sunrise of Frognal arranged a special visiting event for residents and families. My brother, sister and I were able to see our mum (socially distanced) for the first time in months. It was so well organised and the team had worked so hard to make the event special for us all, decorating
the front garden with bunting and balloons. It was fantastic to see mummy looking so well and gave us all a huge boost.
We would like to send our thanks to everyone at Sunrise for this special event and for all the hard work in making it a memorable day for us all.

My father has been a resident here for about 20 months. On the whole, his health has been much better than when he was living alone. He's not a joiner in with the many activities but enjoys interaction with the staff. I'd like to praise the staff for their response to the covid crisis. The home closed
early to visitors and had collected a good supply of PPE to use with the residents. I understand some residents did test positive, but all made a full recovery. It's been hard not visiting, but Skype calls have been set up and emails are answered promptly by staff. Last week we were able to visit for a short time and what a lovely enjoyable time. There were balloons and banners and a little glass of fizzy wine to celebrate. We're looking forward to visiting again and fully understand and concur with the tight restrictions that are in place. They have paid off keeping these vulnerable people safe. Thank you

My mother has been a resident of Frognal for over four years. She and my father moved there together, though he died two months later at the hospital of sudden-onset pneumonia. He was just shy of his 90th birthday. What the staff at Frognal did was extraordinary that night: members of the staff took
turns to sit with my mother throughout the night, simply to be present and to offer their support. This was an above-and-beyond moment, not a one-off. That level of personal care, respect, and genuine affection has been constant in my mum's experience with Frognal - from the indomitable receptionist to the proactive General Manager.
There are masses of activities; in fact, I have to make an appointment to get her on the phone! She so loves the performing arts, esp. the opera and piano performances. Then there is the exquisite garden and majestic oak that she adores.
Frognal's response to Covid19, too, has been proactive, clear, intelligent, and compassionate.

Since the emergence of Covid19, management and staff have been magnificent in ensuring the health and wellbeing of all residents and staff. They have been decisive in enforcing infection control measures and, in my mother's case when long-planned arrangements for her 100th birthday were curtailed due
to "lockdown", the situation was managed in a thoughtful and consultative manner. Although the original celebration planned for family and friends from UK, USA, Ireland and Australia was cancelled, management and staff went to enormous trouble to provide Mum with a significant party involving all residents and staff. They even took photos which were sent to all Mum's family as a record of her milestone. These and other actions taken throughout the pandemic, though often difficult to implement, have kept everyone safe and well.
My mum has been impressed by the level of communication continuously provided to her and all residents. This has given peace of mind, providing facts, not rumours. Thanks.

Both my parents spent their closing years here (the last eight years) and were as happy and well cared for as they could have been with their progressing dementia and declining health. My father lived in all three units, starting with an Independent Living apartment, moving into the Chestnut House community
and ultimately Well House when his dementia had taken over his life completely.
I was constantly amazed at how well the staff related to all the residents, especially in Well House where they had to deal with unpredictable behaviour and awkward interactions between residents. They did so brilliantly while still treating all the people in their care with respect and apparent affection.
In April, when needing hospital treatment, the staff worked hard to overcome the reluctance of the NHS to accept patients from care homes at the height of the pandemic.
They always did the best that anyone could for both my parents and are continuing to show great kindness to the bereaved family. Superb.

When my sister and I were looking for residential care for my increasingly frail parents, who could no longer cope with living at home, we visited several places in the area but were immediately struck by the ambience of Sunrise - more like a country house hotel than a care facility. As we were negotiating
my parents moving in the staff could not have been more helpful - bending over backwards to accommodate their every request. Since their arrival, I can only say that my opinion of Sunrise has risen. The food is excellent, the activities varied, and the staff unfailingly courteous, smiling, and prepared to go above and beyond the call of duty. Sunrise's preparation for and arrangements during Covid could not have been bettered and I feel that my parents are very safe. Suffice to say that I recommended to my cousin that it would be a perfect place for her father, and my uncle is now also a resident. Many thanks to all who work there.

Although I have not been able to visit my father due to COVID 19, the home has set up arrangements to see him online via an app; which has been great. The home has also kept us fully informed of developments, and whilst I can’t visit, I do feel confident that all measures are being taken to protect

The moment I stepped into Sunrise, I knew I had finally found a suitable care home for my mum’s respite needs. The buildings and grounds are impressive, lovingly decorated throughout and all the staff ooze friendliness and passion for their jobs.


My mum spent four weeks at Sunrise, where the care

she received helped her make an amazing recovery from pneumonia. She wanted to add the following comment:


“I had a lovely furnished ensuite room, with a very comfortable bed and armchair. Everything was kept spotlessly clean, and the whole home had a friendly atmosphere. Carers were always available to assist me, and the food was absolutely delicious. There were activities every day, and I particularly enjoyed the minibus trips.”


Our family and friends were extremely impressed when they visited Mum there, and we have no hesitation in recommending to other families to consider this care home for their loved one’s respite or forever care.

When I first visited I thought I had gone to the wrong place! The atmosphere was wonderful. My mum was extremely well looked after by the dedicated staff here, the food was absolutely first class and this enabled my mum's appetite to return so that she was able to regain her strength and confidence.
During
her stay here she has made many friends and would not hesitate to return if needed as the care and kindness shown to her by the staff here have enabled her to return back to her own home.
Throughout Mum's stay here I was welcomed by all the staff I encountered and kept up to date on how Mum was doing.
There was always plenty of activities to do and something going on and her room was wonderful with all that was needed for her stay here.
I cannot stress enough that the staff here are wonderful and went above and beyond what was expected, please make an appointment and see for yourself if you have to make the delicate decision to arrange the care of your family member.

Hello, I’m Fiona, I entered the care sector at the age of 15, previously to this role I was a registered nurse and currently have over 30 years working within a care home setting covering residential, dementia care, mental health and nursing care.


I am passionate about all aspects of care being person-centred to ensure that residents live a fulfilling life. My main interests in care are dementia, medication and end-of-life care.


I have been at Frognal since March 2023 and my main ethos along with the other members of the team is for Frognal to be the best that it can be. I’m happy to meet with any family/friends to discuss the care of your loved ones.
