Our mum became a resident of Frognal during a difficult time for our family. Our dad had recently died, and Mum had received a dementia diagnosis. All of us were in some distress. I can't praise the staff highly enough for the way they handled us to make this transition as easy and positive as possible.
The leadership team and support staff handled some very sensitive issues impeccably and continue to do so. We could not be happier with the service we have received.
After several months, we remain convinced that we made the right choice for Mum. We have not seen her in better physical shape for some years, and her mood overall is brighter and happier. Mum looks and sounds like she's enjoying staying at Frognal. We believe her.
Thank you, everyone, at Frognal. We're confident that Mum is getting the best possible care, which removes a major worry for us all and is helping us heal as a family.

My mum had a fall which resulted in her being admitted to the hospital on a number of occasions.
Since returning to Frognal House, the staff have gone over and above in making Mum get her confidence back as she was reluctant to leave her room.
They have spent time with her encouraging her to eat and
go to the communal areas. Going into the gardens and spending time with her.
I am so grateful to all the staff, and they all deserve a pat on the back.

I have no hesitation in recommending Signature at Frognal House. Mum moved in last July after the death of my father. They handled the difficult transition in Mum's life extremely well. Since she's been there, she is comfortable, engaged and safe. All the staff are lovely. Any problems that arise (which
are very few and far between) are dealt with swiftly. Mum thinks of it as home now. We couldn't ask for anything more.
Reply from Tanya Riding, Client Liaison Manager at Frognal House Care Home - Avery CollectionDear Graham, thank you so much for your kind words. We consider it a privilege to care for your mum. The team works together to ensure that our residents transition well, as we all realise it is such a difficult step for one to take to move into a new setting. Your mum definitely adds to the lovely environment here! Stay well.

I wish to recommend this care home to others. They were exceptionally caring, warm and helpful to my mother. They were quickly there if she needed help and were always patient and understanding. The staff were excellent, and many of them had been working in the home for many years (which is always a
good sign). The home has a range of activities for residents each day and also outings in the minibus. My mother also liked the food. The kitchen staff were always willing to give her a different option (she was very fussy) if she did not like the alternatives available. It was also served hot, which meant a lot to her. My mother was able to have all her own furniture and decorations in her room, which made her feel at home and happy. The staff were also very welcoming and safety conscious. I fully recommend it.

My parents moved into Frognal in January 2020, just before Covid struck. They have very different needs, Mum with Alzheimer's and Dad in poor physical health but alert mentally, and had been struggling from crisis to crisis at home for ages. It wasn't an easy transition for either of them, and the lockdowns
and visiting restrictions made it harder to settle, but we were always reassured that in Frognal they were safe and cared for. Living in Scotland meant I couldn't see them much, but we all appreciated the Skype calls facilitated by staff. We recently reached the point where Mum had to move into the 'Reminiscences' unit. This was managed sensitively and efficiently, and we had several reassuring conversations about it in advance. Nobody could have been less keen on moving to a care home than Mum back in 2020, but now she enjoys the care and company, and they are both so much more comfortable and happier than they would have been at home. Thank you to all staff!

Mum has been a resident in Frognal since September 2021. Prior to her residency, she had multiple A&E hospital admissions in a short space of time. Despite every effort, we were unable to keep her well enough to stay at home. With the professional care she has received from the staff at Frognal, her
physical condition has stabilised to the extent that this is the longest period out of the hospital in a year. Everyone we have met has been polite and approachable, and nothing is too much trouble.

We made the very difficult decision to look for a care home for Mum. This procedure was made easier with the help of the manager at Sunrise of Frognal House. She took the time to explain what needed to be done and spoke to us with compassion. Nothing was too much of a problem for her.

My mother has lived in Frognal House for over two and a half years. She has been extremely well looked after and she has never shown any signs of neglect. In many ways, she is physically healthier now than when she first entered the home, as she is eating properly and her medication is properly administered.
The staff all know her well and treat her with respect but also laugh and joke with her, which she enjoys. They have plenty of activities, including singing songs which she really enjoys and joins in with. As with all decisions of this nature, my brother and I were extremely apprehensive about placing our mother in residential care. However, Sunrise of Frognal House have surpassed our expectations. The problems created by the pandemic, have been negotiated extremely well by the home. In particular, they have informed us of all the measures they have taken as they have reacted to each problem caused by the pandemic, which has been extremely reassuring.

My mother has been a resident at Sunrise of Frognal House for the past six years. I have been consistently impressed and thankful for the quality of care she has received throughout this time. The staff have always been attentive, responding thoughtfully and efficiently to enquiries. They work very
hard to meet the needs of my mother of 97 years, who has become increasingly frail and dependent. Staff have continued to meet the challenges presented, often in difficult circumstances and especially with the increased demands created by the coronavirus pandemic.

My aunt was a resident at Sunrise Frognal for many years following the death of my uncle. She had previously diagnosed with dementia, and this progressed during her time there. Due to unfortunate circumstances, she was under a Court of Protection order, as she needed physical and emotional protection.
The
staff at Sunrise have been exceptional in ensuring she was protected at all times and her care needs were always catered for. As I live some distance away and have been travelling on business out of the country on a regular basis, it has been a great comfort to me to know that she has been in safe hands.
A sensitive understanding of her particular situation and advice on care as her mental and physical capacities deteriorated have been a hallmark of the close attention she has received.
She had been a very caring person to others all of her life and it was fitting that in the last few years of her life she received the same in return.

As a family, we were very concerned about the potential impact of Covid on our mum, who is 84 and has been a resident at Sunrise in Sidcup for the last two years. A year after it all started, we are very happy with how Sunrise has managed the pandemic. Our mum has been very well looked after and is
happy and comfortable. Sunrise has made every effort to allow us to see our mum - whether through Covid secure Pods or regular Skype meetings. Being able to visit Sunrise over the last few weeks and meet Mum in her room has been wonderful. My sincere thanks to the team at Sunrise for the remarkable job they have done over the last year.

Our aunt has been a guest at Sunrise Frognal House for some time now, moving from independent to assisted living some time ago.
The care that she has been given at all times, but more recently, as her health has deteriorated has been exceptional.
All staff at Sunrise put resident care foremost, despite,
at times, providing that care being quite challenging (emotionally and physically).
Our aunt's needs are catered for at all times, be that medical or even just conversation and encouragement to remain active, and eat and drink etc.
These may seem simple things and could be assumed, but in the current environment (Covid), encouraging a despondent resident to continue to do the most basic tasks can be challenging, but all staff have stepped up and supported our aunt throughout the pandemic.
Additionally, we are constantly provided with timely updates as to any situation that may have arisen and how it is being dealt with.
We could not hope for better care!
Thank you!

My mum has been in Sunrise for two years now, and whilst the past year has been challenging for us all, Sunrise has gone over and above to care for its residents. The standard of care is extremely high, and throughout the pandemic, Mum has always said how well everyone was pulling together to ensure
everyone was cared for. Whenever Sunrise could, they would always open the home to ensure we could see our loved ones. The staff are always pleasant and extremely professional. My mother moved into Sunrise at Frognal in February 2019 after a spell in hospital. At 90-years-old, her mobility was worsening due to illness and her current living situation at that time was not compatible with her needs. There had also been a slight mental deterioration since my father died a year
earlier, such as her confusion about using kitchen appliances and daily chores. As an only child and with no other close family within the area, it was clear that she needed to be around people with constant stimulation as she was finding it difficult to cope with loneliness. Considering the current Covid situation, this was a good move to bring her into a community where she is constantly surrounded. The buzz of the community and the activities laid on have all helped her to remain alert, while she can also spend solo time reflecting in the gardens, which she loves. Sunrise has allowed her some independence that she wouldn't have had at home alone, and the staff have understood her needs perfectly.

My mother had been a resident for 3.5 years, she really enjoys the activities and gets on well with all the staff, who are really caring and take time to get to know all the residents.
The surroundings are very pleasant and well maintained and provide a good level of exercise for my mum, who loves
to walk in the garden.
Frognal has provided my mum with a very safe environment during the COVID pandemic and has allowed contact via Skype calls to myself and my family, which has proved invaluable during this very difficult period.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Sunrise of Frognal as the first choice for residential care of the elderly.

My mother moved into Sunrise assisted living at the start of the Pandemic. Mum is 89-year-old with underlying health issues. Despite the enormous challenges of the last 12-months, Mum has been kept safe and comfortable. The staff are professional and incredibly friendly and helpful. They have gone the
extra mile to ensure I have remained in communication with visits when allowed, and regular virtual meetings during the lockdown. I have also welcomed the regular communication from Sunrise and the access I have been given to staff when I need to ask a question. The environment is beautifully maintained, and in the summer months, the garden is a major attraction with comfortable outdoor seating where refreshments are served. I am so grateful to the management and staff for providing a high level of care for my mum.

My mother moved to Chestnut House, which is the supported living part of Sunrise of Frognall House 7-years ago, after the death of my father. She was showing some signs of dementia and did not feel safe living at home. The care and attention that the staff gave on her move were wonderful, the welcome
they give to family members when they visit is always very positive, and you are encouraged to join in activities when you are there. Sadly, my mother's dementia has deteriorated over the years, but she is still able to have and is encouraged to have as much independence as she can manage. This last year has been difficult, but such is the excellent care that I know my mother receives; I have been reassured that she remains well. I visited a large number of residential settings before I visited Frognall, and the moment I stepped through the doors on my first visit. The staff put on many special events, on popping in one afternoon unexpectedly, they had a rock and roll party on the go.

My mother is a resident of Frognal House; she has vascular dementia. The staff here have been so kind during the lockdown and also in the period when we were allowed visits with distancing in place. Some of the carers have formed a real bond with my mum, and she really responds to them; this is so good
for our family to see in this difficult time. We were happy with our choice before lockdown but have really concluded since we made a good decision. The manager has recently helped us with a difficult situation, and we could not recommend him more. Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.684 for Frognal House Care Home - Avery Collection is calculated as follows: ( (188 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 250 Ratings = 4.684
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.763 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Frognal House Care Home - Avery Collection is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 131 registered maximum number of service users is 26.2. 20 Positive Reviews ÷ 26.2 = 0.763
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
