Sydmar Lodge

My mother has been at Sydmar Lodge for three and a half years. Although she wanted to go into a home the transition wasn't easy. The initial difficulties were handled with skill, care, compassion and empathy by the staff in general and the manager in particular. She is now content and the care she receives is excellent. A special mention must go to the Activities Manager who takes the time to engage with her individually as she mostly won't take part in group activities. I will be forever grateful to Sydmar Lodge for the gift of peace of mind it has given me

Great care home. Attentive management. Lovely activities. My mum has been transformed back into a lovely person (albeit with Alzheimer's) but she really likes being there, and sees it as her home now after 2 months. Would really recommend this care home.

Sydmar became a second family to myself and my parents. They were looked after with care , compassion and love. If I had any issues they were dealt with quickly and satisfactorily. The atmosphere is very homely. The staff are all lovely, the manager and deputy are totally approachable and their doors are always open. My dad had dementia but he knew he was loved by all, which is a good indication of the care provided. The weekly activity programme is very inclusive to all residents. The garden has recently been renovated which is great for the residents. The home is clean and welcoming. It was a good choice for my parents to spend there last few years in. Family were always encouraged to visit and made welcome. I would choose Sydmar lodge all over again!

My parents have resided at Sydmar Lodge for the last six months. They both have extremely different needs but I can tell that the staff are very caring and receptive to what they need. The activities are varied every week and all are encouraged to join in or be part of whatever is going on.

Mum was a resident for 5 happy years until she passed away. She was very well cared for by all members of staff led by a very efficient management team. She enjoyed joining in the activities when able to. We always felt able to approach staff if there were any problems which needed resolving. Sydmar Lodge is certainly to be recommended.

I cannot praise the Manager and all the staff more highly, they are amazing people. It's a great relief to know that she is safe and content and all her needs are taken care of.

Sydmar Lodge is an exceptional Care Home. The team in charge are all fantastic. Communication to family is great, activities are so well thought out and the food is really good too! When you walk in, there is a warm and lively atmosphere. The carers go the extra mile. There is a lovely lounge for family to meet in and the garden is great too.

Graham is in charge of all the activities which are varied and interesting and we were always made welcome to come in at any time.

He is well nourished.

I am extremely happy with the care and the activities provided. The staff are all amazing and can't do enough. The management team are also very supportive and make my parents care package extremely successful. The activities provided are excellent and my dad particularly enjoys taking part.

The people who care for the residents at Sydmar Lodge are amazing. From the Manager throughout the different departments have been nothing but supportive and helpful. If they can accommodate they will, and they do. For instance, my cousin wanted to bring his piano to the lodge and he did which now all the residents benefit from. The entertainments manager does more than organise entertainment, he makes considerable effort to liaise with the residents to get them to become involved with life, in fact he brought them all to event where my other cousin (also in a home) now lives and they have a wonderful time. The reception staff make you feel welcome and the handiman does his absolute best to organise a room so that it is comfortable for my cousin to live in. They cannot be more helpful or supportive of their residents and I appreciate all that they do, as I now have peace of mind knowing that my cousin is well cared for.

The food is delicious, the entertainment is great.

Sydmar Lodge and everyone working there are so kind and thoughtful and make it very easy for its residents and families or friends visiting.

My mother who is 100 years old was a resident of Sydmar Lodge for a 5 week period recovering from a broken wrist. The care she received could not have been better. The carers were absolutely lovely and they made my mother feel special. Visiting was always easy and encouraged. The entertainment was non stop and kept all residents and guests involved. I would have no hesitation in reccomending Sydmar Lodge. Thank you again for everything you did for us and I know my mum enjoyed her time with you, in fact there were tears when she left.

My mum has been extremely happy in Sydmar Lodge. She was always smiling and happy to join in with all the activities. I honestly don't think that I could have chosen better for her.

My mother entered the care home in the last 12 months of her life. The staff were really caring towards her and as her life ended they could not be more caring and did not leave her side even staying to be with her when they should have gone home.

My dearest mum was a resident at Sydmar Lodge for 30 months before her recent passing. During her time there, she experienced much care, empathy & understanding from staff who worked well together under the leadership of the first-rate manager. Mum's emotional, physical & mental health difficulties were considered at all times with staff going out of their way to ensure that her needs were met. She often commented on how tasty the food was & that there was always plenty to eat. The activities were varied & stimulating, with much music played & Jewish traditions enjoyed. She loved joining day trips when she could. Although medical staff are not present on site, staff were able to call them whenever needed; it was helpful that the GP who visited weekly knew her well. I feel that the staff cared for us as a family too. Mum told me not long ago that she was happy there & how lovely everyone is. Our experience is that it is a home away from home if such a level of care is required.
